Can we stop with the first line technical support "is it plugged in" stuff now and move on to either removing the patch from the server for additional testing or an actual fix? By fix I mean a file which we can download, double click and wow look EVE works, not a "if you bury a frog in the garden and sing Maria in the bathroom mirror 3 times then try repair.exe" kind of fix please.

Hi Lovelocke,

I have looked through your replies and it seems that you had issues pasting the logs for the issue because of the HTML in it. This makes it difficult for us to help you with the issue you're having.

We are releasing a new repair tool and a new launcher which should resolve all issues that we have managed to get information on and fix to date. If you continue having issues after this has been released we will have to take a look at the log which is generated. You can for example file a bug report, zip up the log file and attach it to the bug report and then tell me the bug report ID and I will gladly have a look at it tonight.

I very much apologize for the inconvience and I hope you see that we are trying to do everything we can to get those who are having issues back up and running again. The workarounds posted previously in this thread has helped quite a few people, because the issue they have is that there is a process in the background which is preventing the launcher from updating itself and the client.

and whats with the other stuff like clients crashing when opening evemail, r&d agents, will you fix that too or are you really just taking care about the launcher stuff

All those issues have been identified and are being worked on per another dev post in this thread.

If i dont know something about EVE. I check https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/ISK_The_Guide

See you around the universe.

Sound bug.- Before the patch the sounds of your launchers/guns firing used to decrease the further you scrolled out the viewing range of your ship. It no longer does this, you get the same sound sat on your ship as you do viewing it from miles away which is an absolute pain if your not trying to wake the nipper up.

Having similar issue with sound. When jumping through gates or being outside stations, even when zoomed out completely the sound is like you had your camera drone inside the gate... at busy gates the sound is VERY LOUD X

Good so far.

It appears that I had a good idea after all in 1) allocating Eve its own drive letter (sidestepping the permissions mess in win7) and 2) using junction points (+1 for mentioning that you tested these).

I'm also glad to see the market 'skills' filter settings don't crash the client anymore (like it was doing on Sisi). P I can now start working on a test case / bug report regarding the POS fuel timers.

My only oddity so far (and pardon the language): Why the hell did a hotfix pop up on login, if the Launcher is supposed to be doing this from now on? It's literally my only remaining gripe regarding Junction support. Yes, the hotfix worked, but has to happen on every install directory - even across multiple shared Junctions.

After trying to install the patch twice and watching it get stuck at 15% both times, I tried to use the repair tools. This how ever stopped at the begging of step 3

Any help would be appreciated (besides re installing)

Ok, dear DEVs I am going to write this procedure again, and i hope you understand that i have done exactly what i wrote:

After clearing the patches stored in the bin\cache folder i restarted the computer

Logged into win7 x64 and, WITHOUT EXECUTING ANY OTHER PROGRAM I RAN THE REPAIR.EXE which told me that there is a process named REPAIR.EXE inside the directory i am trying to repair. The exact same happened when i ran the LAUNCHER.EXE, saying i cannot patch the game directory while the process LAUNCHER:EXE is running and located inside the game folder. BOTH files have the "Run as Administrator option ON".

Then i ran the Exefile in the eve\bin folder and the client started. Downloaded a new patch (evepremiumpatch349998) and looped thorugh the patching process again, booting the launcher and giving me the same error, process in use inside game folder message.

So my question here is: Do you think it would work for us win7 x64 users if you guys put the repair.exe and the launcher.exe somewhere else NOT inside the game folder? Seems like a good idea releasing a patch with that fix huh? (Unfortunately i cannot do that by myself because the repair.exe and launcher.exe require files located inside the game directory to run, which i cannot locate all of them or decrypt their content without the right decryption key or knowledge)

So... um... nothing appears to really be glitching for me, outside of this: after the launcher said "client is ready" I pressed "play" and was prompted to do another update, the traditional way. I'm unsure if this is expected behavior; and if it is... what's the point of the launcher?

Also, the launcher is staying on after I launch the client. Is that wrong too? Again, if that's intended behavior: why?

Reason: Directory path to game folder contains a hyphen: EG: "F:\Program Files\CCP\EVE - Nam

Steps to reproduce: Patch a client with an eve folder name containing a hyphen. Whitespace does NOT cause the issue. "EVE-Nam" caused the issue, "EVE Nam" did not
Workaround: remove hyphen. <--BAD! DO NOT DO

Workaround 2: Remove hyphen in directory, then navigate to eve settings folder (on windows 7, F:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE) and rename client folder to the new name, so... "f_program_files_ccp_eve_-_nam_tranquility" becomes ""f_program_files_ccp_eve_nam_tranquility

What about 64 bit support?

The issue you are experiencing has nothing to do with 64 bit support. There are currently 37 000 players online TQ, a lot of them are running on a 64 bit OS.

What you are experiencing is something else. Have you tried rebooting your computer and then without starting any eve client or anything else, run the repair tool.

The reason why you will have to reboot is to make sure that there are no locked files from other programs.

Please let me know how that works for you.

The launcher says there are just under 32,000 on at the moment. Normally at this time we're looking at 45,000-50,000? Maybe more? We're looking at a possible 20,000 users unable to connect.

Still working on that patch?

I hope CCP Diagoras puts the statistics of how many pilots unsub during this debacle on twitter.

Same thing with your instructions.
Fresh reinstall, run a clean repair. Afterwards the same 16-bit application error.

I'm running all my builds on 64 bit versions of Windows without any issue. Do you have any option to set compatibility for the executable? If so, could you try changing them and rerunning?

Fix for EVE on Linux if it's not been properly documented here.

Install latest version of Wine, on Debian get it from testing, Ubuntu use the PPA here - https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa

Now you'll need to get rid of your $HOME/.wine directory to make sure you have a totally clean install, use rm -rf for this but be warned it will wipe out all of your Wine-installed programs.

Run wine-cfg to force Wine to create your .wine directory and configure itself.

Install latest winetricks then run the following 2 commands

winetricks vcrun2008
winetricks vcrun2010

That should be it, everything should work now.

man how funny some excuses can be... oh ok so theres 49.999 and only i am offline having trouble.. oh ok that should make me happy, or think its my fault the game i paid for its not working.... LOL.. as far as i know those 30.000 Online green numbers in the Launcher can be just a java script going randomly up and down every 2 min

What do i care if i am the only one having trouble? I paid for a service im not getting! Get the game to work with a patch or by rolling back to 1.4. Giving excuses does not pay the money i spent or game time and ISK im losing. Come up with compensations on this

Why don't you bring back manual update ability? It was a pain in the ass but at least it worked.
