Mr.Momaki, I applaud your efforts in this cruel universe and wish to extend an offer of help to you and your cherished followers, on this day i find myself looking at my newly created food recycling facility's production report and note a large surplus of nutrient paste, rather than simply putting this into storage for the forseeable future only to have it thrown out at a later date, I would like to contract it to you and your precious freed slaves as a gesture of kindness from myself and my crew.

Thank you, Captain Areth. I am sure we can find a use for your gift of nutrient paste. We will watch for the contract.

I apologize for the lack of pilot info on the first listing below. We had focussed hard on trying to position our rescue ship within range of two death cans so that we could simultaneously rescue both groups. It wasn't possible so we had to rescue the greater number first and then return after the counter expired. All were successfully rescued and an additional blue can was discovered upon our return to the scene. Unfortunately in the focus of the moment, I didn't record the owner of the first can.

I am encouraged to note that there seems to be a growing number of capsuleer pilots becoming more interested in peace and humanitarianism. Perhaps the better potential of the capsuleer movement can be realized afterall.

I have issued a contract to you personally, Mr. Momaki.

Should the nutrient paste be adequate to your needs I shall endevour to contract any extra surplus I have to you or your group.

Thank you, Mr. Areth. We have several uses for such material, foremost in our sustainable livestock production and medical product production for our facilities.

This particular batch will likely be used in Dr. Nalthkh's facilities in Khanid space since he is established close to the pick up point. Thanks again.

Early and mid-day patrols resulted in two rescues as reported below.

Why do the powerful so fear the small man, the ordinary man, the average citizen? Why does the paranoia of the powerful seek to suppress this "menace?" Is it because the average person has the capacity to accurately judge the moral quality of those in power? I think perhaps it is the amazing perceptivity of the masses that those in power fear most. History shows that this perceptivity is often muted by propaganda or even laziness. But, sometimes it can spontaneously move and change the course of a nation and people. This is what those in power fear. There are also those in power with the humility and wisdom to listen for, anticipate, and respond to the collective perceptiveness of the people. These are those who know that their power is a gift to be used for good and higher purposes; for true leadership.

Truly one of the darkest lies that we tell ourselves is, "It is someone else's fault." "If so and so would just..." We cloak the responsibility that we have for the troubles we cause for ourselves in blame of others. Most struggle with this from time to time and some more than others. However, having a positive and good life calling that keeps you doing good things consistently through your life can help you avoid the blame trap. It can also help you tremendously when on the receiving end of blame.

Of course there is a place and a time to hold others responsible and sometimes blame needs to be assigned. But, as individuals we need to exercise a good measure of self-examination before blaming others for our own mistakes.

The Disciples of Ston wish a peaceful resolution to the current turmoil within the Caldari Sate. Our hearts ache at the prospect of many people being killed; not just soldiers but innocent citizens just trying to live and go about their business. We hope that the leadership among the both the Provists and those in opposition will be wise and restrained in reactions and actions.

I am compelled, despite my personal dislike of how The Disciples of Ston do their business, to point out that Mr. Areth's nutrient paste is in fact made out of human bodies.

One should always be careful of accepting gifts from "charitable" capsuleers.

Hmm? Well, we will check into that claim. The contract was for biomass and has yet to be picked up from the contracted station in Badivefi in Khanid space. We shall have our med labs conduct tests to determine if the biomass is derived from any source other than the standard planktonic colonies. If it is non-standard biomass it will not be used for livestock production. However, innocent until proven guilty.

Perhaps we could also just ask Mr. Areth. What is the derivation of this biomass, sir?

The recycled remains of deceased enemy crew, capsuleers, bled captures and those deemed too weak for the holy bleeding racks.

I fail to see how this should be an issue seeing as the paste has already entered the markets in and around Khanid space with very profitable results, something about better texture and richer flavour than the standard bland paste or so ive heard.

Thank you Mr. Thessalonia, Mr. Areth for the forthright information. This saves us time and expense in testing. The materials will be used strictly for vaccine research and development. Perhaps some honor and dignity can be afforded the memory of those whose bodies were used for this material.

A side note: Food production biomass for our centers comes from livestock production at our planetary facilities. Proteins and biomass production is under our control. Biomass used in livestock production for food is exclusively via planktonic colonies and all protein concentrates are via complex microorganism harvesting.

Mr. Momaki,

While many of your other views expressed in your ongoing diary on the IGS are misguided and based on cultural chauvism, I have in the past considered your activities of saving helpless individuals cast away before dying lonely deaths of asphyxiation without ever having had the opportunity to be Reclaimed and to find God to be at least worthy of merit.

That being said, you have allowed your pride and self-perceived rightousness to dictate your decision to use the abomination that is the so called "nutrient paste" donated by Khazarn Areth. As Mr. Areth so glibly admits, the paste is the result of unimaginable suffering and unspeakable and barbaric acts perpetrated by his Apostate sect upon the weak, the poor, the unwanted and the Faithful. No doubt some may even have been those who you ostensibly seek to save. The atrocities performed on those on the bleeding racks are deplored by all civilized peoples. (I care not what its apoligists might say to justify them).

One would hope that you would not ratify and compound this Sin against nature and against God by not giving the ground up and mutilated remains of the lost a respectful burial but instead using it in a narrow minded feverish effort to continue to advance the empire building mania that is so evident in your constant reminders of this expansion and that station.

Just as certain courts will exclude unlawfully obtained evidence as the "fruit of the poisonous tree" so too you are permitting your myopia allow these illicitly made goods to taint your own ostensibly humanitarian efforts.

Further, and I can't take credit for these wise words which I paraphase, the: "issue of whether to use the nutrient paste is a smokescreen from the reality of human suffering. Instead of the word "nutrient paste," I suggest that we replace it with a bar of soap. This horrible bar of soap is the remains of murdered innocents. The image sensitizes and personalizes our dilemma. Imagine the extreme feeling of discomfort, and the mortified look of horror upon discovering that one just showered with the remains of murdered innocents. The ghastly thought of the dissicated and drained remains of human beings (and perhaps even one's close relatives) being ground together together for a bar of soap precludes any consideration of its use. How could any civilized person divorce the horror from the carnage without numbing one's self to the screams of the tortured and ravaged faces of the victims of Mr. Areth and his ilk?"

I remain, the faithful servant of Empress Jamyl Sarum,

Oh come now Ms. Aspenstar, My facility produces thousands of units of nutrient paste per week before shipping to Covenant space and supplying settlements/installations within the surrounding region, I provide employment and spiritual opportunities for the sector's downtrodden and disposessed and a way for the weak to further the growth of the strong and promising.

While I do disagree with Mr. Momaki on many points I respect his stand against Amarr imperialism and their childish bullying tactics hence the donation of food supplies to his group.

If it makes you feel any better on the subject of burial, Ms. Aspenstar, unused materials are placed in landfill.

A while back, DSTON actively operated a program we called, "clone body return service." The purpose of the service was to provide dignified final disposition for clone bodies we discovered drifting in space. Owners were contacted and we offered free return of the remains or cremation. We researched disposition rites and would do our best to accomodate the wishes of the owners. After a time, this work was displaced by a more more pressing need. In times of war, natural disaster, etc, there is a great need for the services of well trained "service dogs." Search and rescue cadaver dogs are especially useful to locate remains and also the living injured. We discontinued the clone body return service and began using the bodies we found in our cadaver dog training program. Hundreds of former slaver hounds have now been trained to function as service dogs.

Some recoil at this use of clone corpses. I understand this and sympathize with the view. However, we weighed the issues and made a decision to do this. We feel that it lends a weight of dignity in the long haul to the life that once occupied the body. For centuries, men and women have donated their deceased bodies for scientific and medical use and countless lives have been saved as a result. From organ donations to cadaver research, the list is long for the use of our expired bodies.

We weep at the suffering described by Ms. Aspenstar in her post. We see the suffering of war and the needless violence perpetrated in the name of religion, ideology, nationalism, etc every day. It does not pass over us and leave us unmoved. Quite to the contrary, we are greatly moved and grieved. Right now there are 760 m3 of homogenious biomass from an untold number of human bodies by all accounts. We could provide a solemn final disposition rite and cremate the mass or we can use the mass to generate much needed vaccines. We are choosing to do the latter and believe that it dignifies those who suffered and died.

Do we have moral certainty in this decision? No. I am learning as time goes on that moral certainty is seldom achieved. Yes, this might be a wrong decision. We don't think so now. Sure, our actions are open to criticism as they should be but we will honor the lives of those who once occupied these bodies when others are given life-saving vaccines. Is there potential for a slippery slope here? Yes there is and we feel a gravity in this. This is the one and only such donation we will accept. Our planktonic biomass production will be our sole source here on out.

Mr. Areth, notwithstanding the self-serving veneer you place upon your operations, it is now abundantly clear that in order to supply your bleeding racks you are operating a Death Camp, or concentration camp, preying on the homeless, the weak, and the Faithful. Such activities are sanctioned by none of the Empires and is deplored by all civilized persons in this Cluster.

Mr. Momaki, while I still disagree with the use of the "nutrient paste" even once, I am heartened to hear that you and your organization will, from this point forward, cease your association with Mr. Areth and his ilk, cease to accept donations of "nutrient paste", and recognize the potential for a "slippery slope". In that light, and since it would perhaps be then be churlish of me to continue to voice my concerns about the disposition of the initial donation, this will be my last communication to you on this topic. I, therefore, wish you well with your future rescues. (Although I remain steadfast in my disagreement with other aspects of your philosophies). If any of your matriculants should wish to rejoin the Faithful, please do not hesitate to contact me.

For the State... Our rescue work continues but I have an ongoing anxiety in my mind for the nation. There is so much that is just not known about what is at the core of all the happenings. Perhaps now is the time for leaders of all the sovereignties to consider new approaches other than war for achieving good for their citizens. May the best of those in the military on all sides let their diplomatic side hold sway. Now is the time to commit to seeking until we find the common ground that we need to end war and benefit all our cultures.

If there were one sentence that should be eliminated from our languages it would be that ever over used excuse for war, "We've tried everything else." Cool heads are needed from the State, the Federation, the Empire, and the Republic to say, "how can we bring peace out of this chaos?"

Six people, rescued, safe, sound and settling in at the center.

Patient, efficient, and deliberate... These are fine descriptors of the actions of my crew today in the rescue of 129 people and 2 hounds from 3 death cans. Fortunately, these cans were positioned in such a way that we get within range of all three and in immediate gate activation range all the same time. There was no twitchiness on the part of the crew; no missed steps. Things do not always go this way, but is is a pleasure when they do. Two previous rescues are also reported.

Have you ever watched children playing in a sandbox? Have you ever watched them fight over toys? As adults we tend to over-esteem ourselves into thinking that all our disputes are justified and noble. "Our rights have been violated, so now I must kill the violators." When will we see that we are still small in the scope of the cosmos? When will we see that one planet is only a grain of salt in an ocean? May no one be insulted by what I am about to say as it is but a metaphor repeated time an again. Caldari Prime is a but a toy in the sandbox. I commend those in the Federation who are seeing this. As a Citizen I ask those in authority in the State to find those in the Federation who are interested in peace and work with them. Maybe now is the time to find new leadership; people who are not consumed by hatred and bloodlust but driven by a desire for peace.

I'm not so naive to hold my breath over this, but just the talk of peace spurred on by one of the threads on this forum does lift the spirits a bit. Deep seated bitterness and anger must die if peace is to live. Let us hunger for peace more than we hunger for war. Let brotherhood displace vengeance. I hope the talk of peace and ideas for peace continues. Imagine if all the ingenuity, energy and intelligence devoted to war were given over to the quest for peace. Imagine...

How hard it is to let go of all we are afraid to lose. Why don't we let go of our wars? Part of the answer has to do with what we fear to lose. The great touchstones of cultural vocabulary often come into focus at these times. We must keep fighting lest we lose our honor. We must keep fighting lest we lose our freedom. Sometimes these statements are true but more often they are euphemisms for, "We must keep fighting lest we lose the argument." It is the better man, woman, nation, and culture that is big enough to say, "what was the argument in the first place?"

We are happy to have rescued 78 people thus far today.

We hope that the meeting of the Tribal Council will lead to greater efforts toward peace. While seeing to the needs of the Republic we hope that peace is a priority. We wish for the very best for the Minmatar people. I hope that what might arise out of this new birth is not so much a sense of "fear the tribes," as "respect the tribes."

The Disciples of Ston hold that a priority of the Council should be to do all in their power to prepare the Republic for a return among slaves scattered in the Cluster of all who long to be repatriated. We stand ready to assist in this endeavor in any peaceful way we can.

We were able to rescue ten yesterday.

What is it you feel to be your birthright? What is your entitlement? Those we rescue are a constant lesson for me as a capsuleer. We as a class seem to derive this strange notion of what ought to be afforded to us simply because of our status and wealth. This entitlement seems to generate a level of narcisim evident in most all of us.

There is an attractive security in the faces of those who are content merely with the possession of their lives and the potential to make something of them the next day.
