Not like I'll participate in the blink in the first place - but it's kind of breaking the continuity. While from a logic standpoint noone would stop you to manufacture a ship that blueprints exist for (on a lore basis here) - making the thing a signed autograph card ( "From Jamyl with love" ), then mass printing them is just wrong. What's so bad about it being destroyed? What's the problem of there being only one Megathron Federate Issue?

If you want to hand out some ships without breaking the continuity sell some "stripped" Eidolon Hulls or something. Introduce a Bronze version of the Gold Magnate if you want to - "based on" but don't make it the Gold Magnate. If you can't come up with the fluff for a late introduction of a "third rate" version (how about: "In order to raise funds for the reinvigorated reclaiming asked for by Tash-Murkon ...blabla... Empress Jamyl gave the order to produce a number of limited Issue ships to be sold to supporters.") don't even bother trying to come up with a reason for the reintroduction of something that is unique by all intends and purposes (because that's way harder), unless we'll have a new selection for a new emperor/empress.

For me, I don't care if an extinct ship is brought back from the dead, it will have no impact on the value of the only other one. It will be a new piece of history for the ship. Were this happening in real life and a ship became so revered, it would be re-introduced. Players who have played for five years might have only heard of the Gold Magnate for first time today.

I remember when there were so many scammers selling "Gold Magnates" and now there are none so that part of the community, which I'd like to see vanish but is revered by so many, will once again thrive.

The Guardian Vexor might suffer a little downgrade in value but no one will lose anything. Chribba will likely have rare ships to sell to the very few who keep them tucked away in hangars never to be seen again - sort of de facto extinct.

Perhaps it would have been better for CCP to have invented new ships for this exercise, but I seriously don't think that would have assuaged anyone's complaints, just caused them to be re-worded as "new one of a kind ships never to be seen again would be flooding the rare ship market."

About Blink / CCP. I have been aware of some of Blink's community financial support but not to the extent mentioned by the Dev who has access to more figures than I do. The Blink websites don't offer a clue to their extent, but I know they have given ISK to every fleet in past tournaments to help the alliances without isk faucets in their SOV and I know they have been very helpful to Eve-Uni in helping the new player experience. As I understand it, Blink will not have possession of the ships, but winners will receive them from CCP directly. I have no idea how the isk will be divided. I would assume CCP has fixed a price for blink to meet.

I can understand why Blink chose to use their format where players can increase their chance to win by increasing their Blast Credits, which increase with the number of blinks played and won and the level of the blink involved. More blink credit for winning a dread in a blink than for winning a frig for instance. That fits right into Risk for ISK. Had they chosen to do it with their vehicle which gives everyone one chance to win, they would have been flooded with a million alts when their rules are one blink account per person regardless of how many Eve accounts the person has.

I am very glad CCP has recognized a player run operation in Eve in this way and hope they will be able to find other squeaky clean fansites with which to do the same thing.

Fansites for alliances who are heavily or lightly into botting, carry links to sites, or have carried links to sites which do RMT for ships and ISK need to be excluded, in fact removed from Eve or the rules against it need to not just be overlooked for the favored but removed if CCP cannot unemotionally enforce them.

Overall, I think it is a good thing!

I'd call it breaking promises/guarantees, not "changing their minds".

Chribba, Yourself, Entity.. just how many rare ship collectors are upset about this?

The playing field has been leveled for Joe Average. Bittervets and those who dominate alliance tourneys no longer hold a monopoly on ships worth a small fortune/ the ability to provide hilarious lossmails.

I'm not a collector, just an interested party since I owned and lost the original gold magnate, and was active back when CCP guaranteed there wouldn't be any more of them.

That's all I'm upset about, CCP making yet another huge mistake, apparently now that Oveur is gone nobody over there cares about this stuff.

PS; This doesn't level the field at all , someone filthy rich will buy a blast win as usual and the richest corp in EVE somer blink will get even richer due to CCP giving them extremely valuable free stuff to sell.

Not empty quotin'.

This is dev's blantantly favouring one corp, least in the old days they used to try and hide this away..........

Re-introducing Gold Magnates into the Ship-pool in this way is a terribad idea Ugh

They should be kept as a special one-off reward ship for tournaments (Amarr ones at that maybe?).

I can remember when Mr PinkHat got hunted down by mOo and lost his. I'm not sure if any are left in game, but if i had one of the few, or the last one worth a fortune - i'd be going mad right now.

Also making my voice against this heard.

Favouritism, even as benevolent as this seems to the community at large, is still favouritism. Figure out your own vehicle for the release of these in game assets to the community or don't do it at all, in my humble opinion. Maybe even get the guys at Somer to consult on the process - but DO NOT hand ISK on a silver platter to anyone in game, especially not when they set the price, risk and thus potential profit of the assets involved.

Somer has a great business model - I personally dislike gambling but this is no place for evangelism as to how people spend their free time. This is not an argument against gambling, Somer or CCP reintroducing ships. It is an argument about perceived bias and an increasing frequency of GMs and Devs treating even the most coherent, literate arguments with derision and disrespect - outright ignoring opposition or (at worst) sneering actively at said opposition.

With individuals of such calibre as Chribba lending their weight to the 'against' bloc, I strongly suggest you re-evaluate.

Darknesss, Wirox and Lotto49 have had lotteries for years. I have just as much faith in them as Somer Blink.
I suggest they send ccp a mail and tell them they want to do a raven state issue lottery.

By the looks of it ccp provides prizes.

If they are that desperate to use the textures just leave it as a NPC ship.

This is unfortunate.

I have a great deal of respect for Somer and her Blinks. I love CCP and the awful game they have willfully addicted me to.

But some times, just sometimes, you come out with really stupid ideas like this and I really have to cringe.

Please guys, take the advice of a friend and don't do this. You can rustle up a new limited edition, you can lottery them to active accounts using even the most primitive random selection process and you can avoid a costly mistake.

Don't let the winter expansion announcement be spoilt by one set of comically bad decisions.

A) You're giving Somer Blink free isk.
What that isk is used for doesn't matter.

B) You're giving away free ships which were always considered and promised to be limited run and the only ones of their kind. Ships which get news articles written about them when they die.
Stupid idea.

C) Blatant favouritism.
Doesn't matter who or what it is, CCP shouldn't have any involvement with a player or group of players, to the exclusion of other players, which ends up with those players profiting financially or otherwise. If Blink gets gold magnates and guardian vexors to give away, everyone should get gold magnates and guardian vexors.

Idiotic. There is no other word to describe it.

If you want to hand out unique ships, create unique ships to hand out. Don't ruin the uniqueness of ships already in the game, even if they're so unique they've been lost forever. In fact, “lost forever” is the best reason to not do so since there is no legendary status that will ever beat that and since no game will ever offer the same.

Give Somer some Bronze Magnates and Steward Vexors if you have to, but let the historical ships be historical.

So basically, if you grind enough rep ccp will just hand you a trillion isk?

Also, some of the unique ships you are giving blink were tournament ships. So to then claim you will never reissue tournament ships is a little suspect.

Please don't reintroduce ships like this. There was one, it was blown up, let it stay that way. That's what makes EVE so great, it becomes a huge part of the lore and history!

Also I'm interested in what type of agreement there is between CCP and SOMER (I woudln't be surprised if you say it's between you guys...) seeing as by the looks, you're donating these rare ships, which I am sure will gather A LOT of attention, which in turn will be tons of people giving SOMER their ISK for a chance to win.

The ISK betted will be returned to CCP or kept by SOMER? Congrats to SOMER for landing the opportunity though, but CCP really you should rethink the items you are giving away because giving out items you said were gone forever is just bad (and I know you can change your mind at any time and reintroduce things - as you just sorta did - but that doesn't make it a smart move).
