Every time I win or lose a large chunk I think "okay I'm done for good." That usually lasts two weeks. Now that I've gotten other people in corp hooked that promose is down to two days.

Is there any reason Somer isn't offering blink credit from Shattered Crystal anymore? I've always used them for GTCs, and the link on Blink now says they are not available. Is it a supply issue and will return, or is something else going on?

Was wondering this to, I don't want to sign up for yet another GTC provider if its just a temporary thing.

Can I get confirmation from a SOMER person that this is true? I've never had any problems with them, but if it's true, I'll gladly switch providers.

Hi,

Unfortunately ShatteredCrystal haven't paid us in a couple months so we needed to divert to Markee Dragon until ShatteredCrystal is current again. We hope to be able to offer both providers again soon.

Sorry for that guy who got bit by a dog scammer who grabbed onto a well run outfit like Somer Blink. I suggest next time you check out what a promo code really means.

Anyone who has questions about Somer Blink can log onto the channel "SOMER Lotteries" and get the real story.

Frankly, I was hesitant - this is eve and Somer is player run - so I went in with almost nothing and watched for a while to see how it all worked before I ever placed a single ISK in jeopardy. They have so many things going on. Somehow, tokens get built up, thousands of them and several times a day, maybe even hourly - it varies - they have a "Promo" go up which may have a Moros, or a mach or a titan skillbook as the prize and it costs you one token to buy the one ticket you can buy and around 200 ppl have a chance at getting the random number generated ticket. The winning ticket number is generated by third party "Random number .com" I believe it is called - which provides numbers for a wide array of internet activities which need impartial thrid party number generation.

The staff is very helpful in the channel I mentioned above.

They have a feature called "awards" where you win bonus ISK for meeting the requirement for the award. such as " recurring nightmare" where you get a bunch a millions for winning your fifth nightmare - which sounds a lot more difficulet than it is.

I am writing this from the in game browser and blink runs from there too. and because CCP's so wacky on their forums, I'm not changing back and forth to get the exact number of millions you get from the awards, but it ranges from 1 million to I think 1.5 billion - if that is how much 1500 millions equals.

. Most ships have It is gambling, more will lose than will win - but you control more of this gambling than you do on any of the continents in the world I've gambled on8 tickets and a good many of the blinks have 5 tickets totalling less than the amount Somer will buy the ship back for.

I keep the ships I win with one ticket and sell back the rest to Somer - I've increased my fleet by 86 ships but sold most of them, keeping 6 nightmares, 8 bhaals and 11 Machs which I all won for a single ticket for a rainy day. A single ticket on a nightmare is 78mil. There is a stats page which gives you information on the frequency of the recent winning numbers and that can be helpful if you believe in things like statistical probability. It does not just give you a few numbers but well enough to provide a database where the sample is large enough to provide rudimentary reliability.

But remember, it is gambling and no matter how many times you flip a coiin, the coin does not remember how it landed last time and does not care how it lands next time. Random number generators care even less than coins.

I wish these guys would buy out CCP.

I could have sworn I read in a post by you that in your many years of Military service that you never gambled. I'm just a noob but there is something very very odd about this character.

We draw each week's Minibonks at the end of the week, when the Bonk expires :)

We'll do it in a live drawing in channel, so if you're around / awake then, stop by!

A little odd is usually the default description people who don't know me well use. It is rare for someone to start off with "very odd".

The quote you provide is from my very early days of playing blink, and is perhaps my first post about playing blink. I see a lot of errors I made in the original. You posted it all but I condensed it to specifically address the comment you made about a disparity between what I said in this early post and other comments I have made at other times.

I have never gambled in a casino, bought a lottery ticket in any state or country and my only gambling experience prior to blink has been playing poker with friends when I was a young soldier. I have spent a lot of time in casinos, though. The US Army liked to, perhaps still does, hold conferences in casino hotels as the rooms are less expensive, air connections are usually not a problem and the back end expenses of a conference, the meeting rooms, projectors, snack tables, unlimited coffee, tea and water, plus little things like tablets, pens for everyone are either very cheap or part of the reward for bringing such a large party. Air travel is particularly cheap as destinations such as Vegas, Reno, and Atlantic City have every airline landing there, so the ticket prices have lots of competition. I remember attending a conference in Reno hosted by the an Army Reserve Division, the 104th, headquartered then in Vancouver Washington. When I got tothe the conference, it seemed like half the attendees were from the 104th, which by the way had units in the 12 western states. I asked one of the planners why the conference was not held in Vancouver WA area. They had done a pretty good job of determining the costs associated with hotel, air, average meal costs in the hotels, plus the many backend conference expenses, and it was cheaper to have a convention in Reno or Vegas for them than to have it in their own back yard.People often want to think about US Government entities "living it up" on the taxpayers dime, and some do, but the Army Reserve has way more mission than they have money and not enough lobbying power to change it.

When I was stationed in Europe in the ealry 70s, many old casinos still had the atmosphere of a casino in a James Bond Movie with the men in tuxes and the ladies in evening gowns. Besides the gambling, they had shows, lots of shows and Revues, and great meals and it all came free, if you bought a certain amount of chips. Visiting such casinos was a practice of many of the officers in the unit I was in at the time, the 2/13 Infantry, part of the third brigade, in the 8th Infantry Division. when my unit was in a maintenance phase It was a well known custom for us to squeeze out 5 days leave and those of us guys who'd found something that would pass for a tux at the thrift shop. We'd buy enough chips for the days we would be there, most would gamble them away, but my wife and I just cashed in the chips that got us in the door.

I've said all that to say I have seen a lot of gambling on several continents, some of the back room gambling Thailand, I never understood, but it brought a fight about every two hours and that was the attraction.

My education got off to a late start as I joined the Army as a high school dropout, which you could do in the 60s, but I attended a high school and graduated at age 20, two years after becoming an 18 year old Drill Sergeant in the summer of 1965 at Fort Jackson, SC. Later, after Officer Candidate School Nov89 to May70 at Fort Benning, my civilian education really began and I sort of got dragged into stats. Back in those days, the only places to gamble were in someone's dining room or go to Vegas. There were no state lotteries, some states had horse races, but all the gambling took place at the track. I never knew a bookie, never travelled in those circles. But as a student of stats, I could gamble all the time and it never cost anything. No computers and hand held calculators were very expensive at first, so it was a stubby pencil and slide rule for me. I deconstructed many gambling games I had watched over the years, seeing some constantly lose and other doing a little better. I used to take notes on the ones who were doing a little better and then use statistical theories to find out why, and more importantly, how to predict when, they were going to do a little better. I created formulae of trends, and tried to include every variable I could possibly apply. In Europe, especially Switzerland, there was no air conditioning needed so I knew the humidity was not constant, so I entered that as a variable in every game which included dice.

I can't take credit for inventing randomness, but I sure did create a lot of formulae to prove it existed.

Ok the quote. I used what is called poetic license to state something everyone could understand, rather than go into th detail necessary to state what is the full truth, especially when the full truth would make little difference. In the context of that forum post, had I said, "I've never gambled in a casino, but I know a lot about it..." I would have had no credibility. If I had laid the background, I would have run out space. I gave it to you as it seems you have read everything I have posted.

I was in Las Vegas last week (for work). I set aside $200 for gambling. I finished off the first night down $50. I decided that while the gambling was entertaining, the remainder of my gambling $ would be better spent on some over-priced Vegas gear for my family. Also, I like tacos, and I have never owned a pair of Birkenstocks.

Now, can someone please win that last 1.5T so we can start the damn celebration? I need a GTC and I want the full bonus!

Confirming that FT. Benning (Home of the Infantry) is nothing to trifle with and that we still use some casinos as a military ball location. Cool

Hiya!

He's played 7 normal blinks, but won none of them

He's played quite a few promos, and won one.

Promos don't count as "Blinks played" or "value of blinks won," but they can show up as favorite Blinks.

Basically, it's someone who deposited a big wadge of ISK, but only plays a Blink when they need to get eligible to play a promo :)
