You do realize CCP has hundreds of employees right?

A small portion of them worked on this and it goes though the same process as other elements. It is just talked about because of the seemingly new noob experience they are working on.

And I like it. The game really NEEDS new faces and not alt #27 Many see the rather harsh first experience and leave soon after. Improving that will improve EVE in the future.

Burst

They do look great, but its not like my time in them was really important

No matter how good they look (and they do look mighty fine) new player will still do what countless others before them have and trash/mothball the thing the second the game hands them their first frigate.

once upon a time that rookie frigate was all you had until you could have afforded a new one. and I am not sure how noobs stuble though the tutorials these days but ship loss is likely still and this is going be the ship for 'sore eyes' after losing the last and only combat ship they thought they could take the world with.

Also the other thing they could be doing is giving the rookie frigate some serious hardware upgrades to facilitate the 'be all the noob you can be' by having these ships prefitted with alot of civillian things from a civillian miner, pop gun, a free drone, bottle rocket and flare (probelauncher) to get the player familar with all the possible things in the game.

I think giving rookie ships more love is a good thing.

This is because a lot of people are going to make big mistakes*, which means they might even have to start agian in a rookie ship. Having a rookie ship that looks lovely should take the sting out of it.

Can see the arguments for but it does seem a bit bizarre to spend time on this.. You spend about 15mins in it before you trash it. And you hardly ever see one again... Lets hope they put as much love into the tutorials as that seems to be the biggest noob problem at the moment

I wouldn't worry about this. They already said they're working on updated looks/textures for Amarr/Minmatar AND the rookie frigates. So I don't really mind them showing off and/or releasing these first.
