My city hasn't had any intentional name change, just a corruption on how it was pronounced as different people conquered or settled it.

The first name given by the Romans was Faventia, when they expanded a castrum they had built in 15 BC on high ground in what back then was mostly a series of marshes between two rivers. Faventia was the nickname to "Colonia Faventia Julia Augusta Paterna Barcino", but later "Barcino" was preferred and became official around AD 14. This name got corrupted to "Barchinona" by the Visigoths, then the Moors conquered it and called it "Barshilona" for some 85 years, then the Franks conquered it back and it became "Barcelona" as part of the Carolingian Spanish Marques, and has stayed like this for 1,200 years.

Nobody ever fancied changing its name, probably because noone really knows where "Barcino" came from or what does it mean.

My city name was made by using name of the owner of the settlement, probably ferry location first, on the road to big forests where people gathered honey and hunted, so furs and honey must have been transported here to other parts of the country.

He must have been called Vyshek (diminutive of Vyshemir "Vysh"="above" and "mir"="peace"). First people added "ovo" (desctiptive for location) to the "Vyshk" part, and then it was modified to Vyshkov later as centuries passed. We write it as Wyszków and its pronounced like that (click blue triangle to play sound).
