Out of Pod Experience

Thunderdome was not meant to be fought within the confines of arbitrary limits. Several of the matches I had previously fought in raged over hundreds of kilometers of breathtaking excitement.

With that notion in mind, and the idea that the combatants could warp to a common object at the range of their choosing, this is the fit that I provided to Max:

Drones to suit.

Dictate range for as long as necessary, apply damage from that range, fight until the end. Obviously not a strong contender for such an arbitrarily limited grid, and in a warp-to-zero slug-fest it would die in a fire. But in an open-grid fight with open starting ranges, as in the fights of the style of C&P, I still contend that it would have taken any comers if properly flown.

With moderate grumbling regarding the arbitrary grid limitations, I congratulate ISD Buldath.

ISD Buldath needs to add his thunderdome victory in his sig line. Otherwise Mad Trix isn't going to remember the salt of defeat.

Max would win if there would be no boundaries. Maybe Max is used to a mindset that nothing can stop him. For sure some unseen boundary in space. Space that is so wast and limitless, it influences mind of a capsuleer. Changes your perspective on limits.

Ok ok you lot. I just wanna slide in here and show that we in C&P know how to lose sans tears, and graciously (if not exactly gladly).

Thanks to Dom Arkaral, whose idea it was, and to CCP Logibro who (eventually) gave his permission to use the very special Arena. We are eternally - eternally I tell you - grateful to His Majesty for his condescension.

Thanks also to all those who offered fits and advice to the combatants; I was unable to do so, being so very used to the ambush playstyle.

And lastly, to the two ISDs themselves, for being good sports; an example to us all (probably).

It'd be a shame if this just fizzled out, so if anyone has any ideas which might have mileage, step up!

Maybe a quick match to close the CSM meetings? CCP team vs CSM team? And the losers order pizzas for the whole party.

Hopefully we can get an AT-styled Thunderdome where each team of CCP (Game of Drones and the others) , ISD (CCL, STAR, etc.), and GM sends their 6 best pilots for a fun and friendly competition.

Mad Trix fought hard and good, same as Master Blaster Balduth. The second round with the war boys at 0 range... Seemed bound to make it kind of a fitting vs. fitting instead of a pilot vs. pilot fight. But there'd been no blood in the first round and, the people of Bartertown was waiting, so they came for a real fight. It was a tethered hands death match, at range 0, favoring a brawling gutgasher over a ranging cheststamper. Haven't looked at the ship fits, but the war dogs came out frothing and ready for some of the old arga warga. Real horror show, war boys with blood in their eyes!

Got to say o7 to Wez and Humungus here! Thunderdoming on Twitch with a bunch of Eve critics watching takes hella guts. Not to mention also having to also work up the Twitch live stream team, and help manage the crowd at the same time. Really great.

Courtesy of CCP (I'm sorry sir, I was drinking bourbon at the time, and Twitch seems not to have easy chatlogs like Eve).
