Bullshit.
Maybe because you force it on with every patch.

The new camera is sluggish and inferior. Keep the old one.

Just quoting the first of a sizeable number of complaints about this one in this topic. Every patch this new camera was forced on me the first thing I did after undocking and noticing you did it again I went straight to options and turned it off faster than you'd have a capsule in warp.

Keep the old cam as an option, even should you never ever add anything new to it just keep it available. (And that CCP can do things like that is visible to everyone using the old hangar instead of a pointless captain's quarter. I wonder how many percent of the community actually includes that)

I'm among both groups, old hangar AND old camera.

It appears that CCP is choosing to ignore us again, bad idea. In my opinion games are 95% visual stimulation 5% everything else. If I am not pleased with what I see on my screen I do not continue playing. This is why EVE is the only mmo I play. There is nothing in the new camera that I like. And there is nothing in EVE that will keep me playing if I am no longer being visually stimulated. If the new camera was here back in 2010 when I started playing I would have given up after a month.

The new camera works if you make videos, it gives you extra options. But like most of the EVE community I don't make videos.

You really should listen to your customers CCP we pay your bills. Everything else you have forced on us has been forgiven to a certain extent. But if you take away the number one thing that keeps me playing EVE there is no point in me sticking around.

Side note: looks like Markee Dragon has almost completely removed EVE from his twitch schedule. EVE was the game he played most on his show. I guess you just lost another customer. And all the future customers he would of brought you.

Goodbye EVE you will be missed!

Every single time, every single feature.

  • Step 1: Take something.
  • Step 2: Reinvent something.
  • Step 3: Add features to something.
  • Step 4: Break alot something.
  • Step 5: Opt-out something.
  • Step 6: Fix a little something.
  • Step 7: Roll-out something.
  • Step 8: Repeat something.

95 % of all customers dislike this.

I want to say I'm not quitting EVE as suggested here. But I am taking a small break from it on the how and will do a show patch day to see how things look. I love commerce and hauling in the game. Both of those do not matter much with the camera views and are not something that is entertaining in videos. The entertaining stuff involves conflict. Most conflict involves the camera.

All of this camera stuff does affect how the game is presented. I want it to show really well. :)

Quite sure that not a single person, even in CCP believes that 5% figure is actually credible.

I didn't mean to say you where quitting. I was just shocked to see you went from 3 or 4 days a week of EVE to just one day on the entire schedule. I was thinking it is a message to CCP because of the old camera removal.
It doesn't seem that CCP cares so there may be no hope for EVE on your channel in the future. I look forward to seeing what you fill the time with.

this is just plain bullshit what is happening currently, they keep sayin' "we are listening to the community" and what we get? a ****** up camera that makes me sick in every way, whats your problem with the old map? whats your problem with the old scanning? whats your problem with the old camera ? everything is fine and simple, why the **** do you need to break everything when its no need to? why the **** ccp can't listen to the community? if they don't want new camera cos its sluggish ****,why they keep going? this is a reverse year or whaT? if we say yes make it then you will keep the old one? what the hell do we need to do to understand that we don't need this ****** up camera controls? if there is a carrier or citadel controler who want to use fighters, then he can use it. getting real sick of this. what are u soviets? its good for 50-100 players then its good for everybody?

have no overall problem with the developers, but this **** really getting out of hand.

So my last question is, what the hell is your problem to force this kind of **** to players who clearly say they don't want to?

Well, you better urge any of your friends who still switch to the old camera every singe patch day to come say why they do it. Because until more than 5% of the active players come here to complain CCP will pretend their 5% figure is true.

As it stands, once they swap to the new camera on the 31st, we can all deal with the backlash of all the guys who were just sleepwalking into this change that left them with a sluggish and inconsistent camera.

The bare minimum of what would make the new camera acceptable to me would be

- All 'features' OFF by default (so as not to confuse the new players with literally the most disorienting camera, out of the box, in any game).

- Make (or give the option to change) the vertical pan speed to be the same as the horizontal pan speed.

- Give an option to change the speed and 'stiffness' of the zoom.

These are such simple options to implement that it infuriates me that you just make a choice to change, after 13 years, the fundamental input method feel with zero consideration for people who currently push it to its limits.

There are lots of other 'feature' complaints, but that effects me less than not being able to control my space submarine as well as i could before May 31st just because of some 'polish oriented design decisions'.

The only reason I have the new camera turned on is because the old camera started breaking the HUD buttons to the left of the statuses ring. Sometimes after a session change they would appear and other times not. If I switched to the new camera they would appear again. and sometimes I was too busy to set it back.

I am slightly visually disabled (if I'm lucky it'll get better) and the Eve UI has been an generally getting harder to use (with some exceptions). Do you only employ UI designers with perfect corrected eyesight?

I've come to the same conclusion.

Especially the *new* map, and the *new* scanner interface look like flashbacks from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind":
Lots of nervously flashing elements, a random mix of candy cane colors, and limited functionality.

The new camera seems to be faster (rubber band effect) than the last time I checked on Sisi. Kudos
But the lack of camera tilting (right-click) or camera tracking with one key (C) render this GUI tool immature.

I need 2 things for the new camera to keep me as a paid (real actual $$) subscriber:

a) Custom tracking position (I like to actually see my missiles hit the target).
2) Not make me seasick (I'm not a masochist).

We'll find out in 5 days (insert ominous music here).

The new Camera is utterly terrible, just like the convoluted and useless "new map". With the old camera and some time spent playing around with a citadel you can stop all forced camera pans and rotations at a gate. Best feature of Citadels + old camera. Stop trying to reinvent the wheel, and fix problems that don't exist.

As others have mentioned, the tracking point is dead center of screen. This needs to be adjustable. The old cam lets you click and drag the tracking point and place it anywhere on screen. This is a must.

Also, a pan speed adjustment when using tracking would sure be nice. As is, I click on something with tracking turned on and the screen turns around instantly. How about a slider to slow it down some?

Other than that, Sometimes when I click on different objects on overview, the camera will spazz out and show my ship way off to the side of the screen rather than pan around my ship to put the selection in view like the old cam. Not sure what the heck is happening there but it needs to be fixed.

Delay removal of the old cam if you must. These things are a make or break for me and judging by this thread and a couple others, im not the only one.

IMHO

I would feel much more comfortable with the introduction of new features,
if it came along with a strong help center / bug fixing service.

As the case stands today, petitions are replied with mass replies,
while bug reports are a pain for everybody involved and rewardless.

The introduction of new features *might* attract new players.
But the breaking old of features *might* repel old players.

Let's hope CCP finds a new balance.
I like this game.

i think the new realize scheduled is to fast for ccp to handle past few months the support center keeps talking about how they have been inundated with tickits maybe they need to slow down take a breath and fix all the current bugs(not just with the camera) before releasing more buggy things.

what would also help is if ccp would delay things when we send in a bunch of big reports on sisi......
