+1 to options to turn off the billboard and/or to display custom (and hopefully local) content.

Some people might like the ability to play random URLs but IMO this has too many abusive and TTP opportunities.

Thought this thread was dead, but as long as it lives I'll help pump life into the old dog.
With the new station animations your ship flies right past the goofball billboards, forcing one to look. I usually find somewhere to scratch, but from what little I've seen if people are paying for these "Ads?" somebody (besides the billboard haters) are getting seriously ripped off.
Station billboards: A bad idea that continues to be a bad idea, except to the company trolls.

How could i be a company troll when i do not work for CCP.

At last we agree, this thread is an old dog, now out the back with her and put one in her head please Roll

so you "usually find somewhere to scratch" while you pass the billboards in station, there ya go, you've already got a solution.

station billboard: A great idea that continues to be a great idea, except to the very short sighted and those that get upset for little or nothing.

PS: For these billboards to bother you that much you must spend an unusual amount of time on station and have very little on your mind besides grrrrrrrrr billboards.

I love them please keep it, and even add sounds to it !

I cant' believe the complains about that! Open your maket or fitting windows and you won't see it anymore.
And if you still get annoyed, a simple solution => UNDOCK !

You can be a company troll without being on the payroll, kind of like the suck up kids in class that squealed to the teacher every time someone shoots a snot rocket.
What's wrong with shooting snot rockets?
Just like poor people and rich people we simply cannot understand each other's view point so no point in being mean to each other except for the pure fun of it.
With any luck one of the cursed things will fall on your brand new high value ship with the sparkling fit and blow you, the ship and with any luck your station with all your beautiful possessions into component molecules. We are forced, you know, into parading the active ship right past the billboards on load so anything can happen.
And unless CCP locks this thread I guess we can go on forever screaming at each other, and you do know, of course, that we who despise the billboards are morally spotless and completely correct in calling for their removal.
You know that, right?

I think Citadel Owners should have the power to choose which ads appear in their Citadels (why would a Pandemic Legion ad get played in a Goon owned Citadel for example).

I, for one, would be ditching that Mormon-esque ad in milliseconds.

If nothing else, players should be able to opt out of seeing certain ads of their choice.

NOTE: This should only apply to Citadels. In NPC Stations, you get the lot.

you really believe the rich and the poor don't understand eachother and i'm just saying what i'm saying to be mean to you, oh for feck sake, get a grip of yourself.

forced into flying past a billboard? no that's a loading screen you're not actually flying anything anywhere.

what's with this we who despise the billboards? you speak for yourself and nobody else so less of the we shite, nothing you say represents my view points.

morally spotless? wtf is that supposed to mean?

xxxWTFeverxxx: My excuse for non-lucid posting is the time; something a bit past 0300. But to reiterate: Station billboards are but a symptom of the latest internet aberration (All mass media, actually) of deliberate, in your face, constant, never ending commercial advertising. It's on the web, TV, everywhere; commercial messages hog more bandwidth, computer resources and user's attention than content.

I understand that ad revenue pays for newspapers, web sites, all those things we get without direct cost. I can accept banner ads off to the side, not interfering with consumption of content. But the trend is towards more aggressive, in your face ninja style commercialism that will, in time, destroy the usefulness of the internet.

And that's why I'm against hangar billboards. What's next, NASCAR style ads on the side of my Skiff?

Fair enough tacky, if it entertains you to change my name around in some sort of childish school yard name calling then hey, you go ahead and have fun son.

Station billboards are an in game feature, they are in no way related to real life. it's a game tacky.

Why you wanted to let us all know about how you feel about commercial advertisement outside of EVE is beyond me.

But the NASCAR style ads on the side of ships,, that's a fecking great idea Tacky Blink

Or perhaps undock and play?

No one's advertising Apple IPhones, Monsanto Fertilizers, or Burger King so y'all should take your anti corporate agendas to the outside world where they might get more milage.

For the amount of typing and mouse clicks it takes you to post....another.....post in this thread about how In Station Billboards are causing you seizures, an identity crisis, early menopause, an erosion of your personal space, and other mediocre complaints, YOU COULD HAVE PANNED YOUR SHIP AWAY FROM THE BILLBOARD!

Which proves to me you like to complain more than you like to better your own environment that you play in.

How about we come to a compromise on the issue and ask CCP to pay us ISK or PLEX for watching the station advertisements.

I get enough ADVERTISEMENTS on my TV (which I pay for). The last thing I want in my 'escape from reality' is MORE ADVERTISEMENTS on Eve. (Which I also pay for).

If I want advertisements, I will watch the local cable channel. There is a reason I am on Eve and not in front of the television.

How do you turn the billboard videos back on? All I see is the still Scope screen but no ads.
