Apparently there are widely varying levels of sensitivity regarding this issue and I guess it's the difference between the "Let's Undock And Shoot Something" crowd as opposed to those who, for whatever reason, need to spend considerable time in station. The reasons I hate the things are multi-level and mentioned ad infinitum nausem (sic?) previously. But the fact that the thread is being dogged to death is that the vast majority of the players would really, really like to make the hangar vids optional and the fact that CCP continues to play the boring, repetitious, ugly and distracting things session after session leads me to question their "listening to player feedback" schtick.

I think the billboards are awesome. I'd like to see more immersive ads though (Quafe, Concord etc).

Wow, so much hate. Just change your camera angle?

I think they can be repetitive, but this is player created content. I support 100% and I wish there was a way to open this up for more sources.

You have some data to back up that statement right?

I've right clicked on the damn billboard hoping there was a way to turn that thing off. I don't understand its purpose since you can't even click on the billboard to see what the damn ad is about.

there's a difference between listening to your feedback and doing everything you guys ask for, i'm pretty sure they've heard some people whining about the adverts that a player made and i'm sure worked hard on and spent time doing.

hey this leads me to a question,

do you guys whine about the adverts you see on local billboards in RL? ring the company that puts them there and have a nice ole whine and a moan about how you see it daily and how much it's getting on your nerves. hahahahaa Roll

i honestly don't get why it's such a problem for you guys, ignore that damn things and get on with it. you seem to have little to worry about if a bill board does your heads in this easy.

hardly a relevant comparison, but since you brought it up, many places actually do ban roadside billboards, as they are considered eyesores and can be distracting to drivers

I too would like an option to turn off the ads in station, they were nifty to see the stuff the players made once, but only once.

Yes you can rotate your camera away from them, yes I do this, yes I still think there should be a way to just turn them off

but you gave yourself the answer right there, ignore them. it's as bad as saying the ships flying by the docking bay are not real people and have no place in our stations, oh shite, did i just draw your attention to another feature on stations that's looped.

opps sorry, try to ignore it, i didn't mean to mention it, Roll lol

the ship loops have never bothered me, its just npc traffic

and just because I can turn my camera view to be out of alignment of the ad screens doesn't mean I should have to, particularly since you have to redo it every time you dock; it'd be one thing if your station camera position saved instead of going to a default, or if the default was out of view of the screens

I tried shooting cruise missiles at the screens to shut them off but my ships safety systems wouldn't let me do it inside a station :(

try using the same logic on the billboards as you have with NPC traffic. ignore it. it's just a billboard.

I'm finding it hard and i'm sure others are finding it hard to believe something as silly as a billboard would be such a huge problem for others, just the sight of it is upsetting you guys enough to want CCP to get a team on it and give you the option to remove them, i get the feeling it's not as simple as you would like to think.

and again i say i don't get it, just ignore the damn things. if you can't then isn't it your problem and not everyone elses?

but hey,, get a few thousand players to back it and i'm sure CCP would respond to your request. but what a waste of time it would be and a slap in the face of those that worked on the feature.

It should be a slap in the face to those who worked on the feature, its a bad feature.

The npc traffic ships in the background are not flashy animations, they make sense to be there on the idea that the station isn't a ghost town. They blend in to the background as well.

The billboards are exactly the kind of thing many people use ad block addons on their browsers to get rid of; as others have pointed out they're not even well placed for some station types.

If nothing else there should only be one screen per hangar, and it should be off the default camera angle, and there really should be an option to turn them off entirely.

The problems boil down to that they're annoying, but I'll restate why:
- Bad placement
- They're in the default view upon docking
- Flashy bright animations (as well made as some of them are, I'd only ever want to see them once)

Moving them out of view is a perfectly valid workaround, but not a valid permanent solution.

If I was the only one that found them annoying, sure, I'd just suck it up and ignore them. However I'm seeing in these types of threads at least those people who bother posting their complaints, and I agree with them.

One thing that would be nifty (if CCP won't let us just turn them off) is that in the case of citadels and player owned nullsec outposts that the owners of the structure can filter which ads are able to be displayed (why a station owner would allow enemy ads to show in their stations....)

It was also at one point said (though maybe inaccurately) that the videos don't cache and you redownload them a lot? If this is true this is anothe reason I'd like to be able ot turn them off, my internet connection is slow enough as it is. If they do actually cache (as they should) and only the new ones have to download, then this complaint becomes moot.

I managed to turn mine 'semi-off' to the point where I only see SCOPE displayed on them. I had to turn a lot of my graphics to a very low level, however.

The whole point of this thread is that this is just another example of CCP "giving" us something that nobody wants (i.e. captain quarters). You can see how much they care by not a single dev post responding to this.

I haven't been in CQ since my noob mission days, like the man said, something that was given that nobody wanted. Hangar vids? Much less desirable than CQ, at least you can just stay out of CQ, no way, yet, to turn off the *&^^ vids.

This issue is split between the "Quit whining and move your viewpoint" (bad guys) and the "Please give us an option to turn the vids off" (good guys.

And the bad guys can't stop posting all about the good guys being a whiny bunch of losers, which is pretty well making this thread immortal, kind of like a capsuleer, huh?

And, of course, as long as it's page one material I'll keep jumping in and inserting my tuppence worth.

And y'all have a nice day.

Is tuppence actually money? I was crew on a USA Guided Missile Destroyer in the 60's, the last time I was in the UK. But I watch a lot of BBC stuff, that's probably where I got the tuppence thing from.

Yes it is, but no one really says that anymore. Mostly just '2p'

It's literally a coin worth two pennies, size is bigger than a penny. Can be used as legal tender up to a certain amount (I think). Have paid for smokes when I was a student, using only pennies and 2p coins.
