I love the whole concept.
for my part I would like to see a much closer zoom
more examples of each individual 'type' , a range of examples that show what it looks like in a minimal to maximal state.
a 3d model of a cell that could be manipulated like you would when looking at a ship and overlay what the various 'types' would look like, selectable so that you could overlay multiple layers.
basically more info, I really don't care about the game mechanics, I want to be correct, this is real life after all Big smile

A few things I can suggest after doing a few dozen of these last night.

I have studied histology at university level, so I do find project discovery to be quite fascinating.

Have the cell slide much larger in general.

I also think the rewards could be a be more progressive, as people gain more levels over this, they should get an improved reward.

you should concentrate on balancing more ships and re-doing more important aspects of the game instead of adding stuff like this...

1: It would be nice with a longer tutorial that explains more in-depth what we are actually doing here. I felt a bit dropped off at the deep end, clicking haphazardly. More training samples would be nice too.

2: the zoom function is quite awful, and the minimap obscures the lower right corner completely, meaning no players will ever scrutinize those parts of the sample.

3: the minigame window is a fixed, tiny size. issue #2 up there would be solved easily if you'd let us increase the size of the minigame window. we all have actual desktop computers with big monitors, there is no reason for us to sit and squint at a tiny stamp-sized area of our monitor. let us blow up the size of the minigame window (up to fullscreen size) in order to see better and more comfortably, without needing to pan-zoom around like we're playing a mobile game.

1) The window size is limited on higher-resolution monitors (for example, 2560x1440).

2) It would be useful to have blue-only and red-only filter options, especially since the description for "Nucleoli" says "...overlapping with holes in the blue marker", but we can't easily see where holes in the blue marker are because the much brighter green is covering up those holes. "Aggresome" is another such case: "It overlaps with a hole in the microtubules (red marker)."

3) Allow players to review their past submissions and the consensus on each submission.

4) For cases where a player thinks that a consensus seems to be clearly wrong (such as the example brought up by "Yadaryon Vondawn" in Post #10 of the present thread - https://gyazo.com/a801d14a5400b4a5edb99e3d517d8b8d ), allow a player to file a dispute for that submission, which gets the submission flagged for expert review. If the expert accepts the dispute, then those players who contributed to the bad consensus are penalized (maybe a skillpoint penalty, maybe being barred from Project Discovery). If a player has 3 disputes rejected by an expert, then that player is barred from filing any more disputes (either permanently or at least 6 months).

5) Allow players to mark features as "Yes, definitely present", "No, definitely absent", or "Unknown".

6) Allow players to skip a sample.

Would it be possible to have an option for only red and blue colors. Currently it is hard to determinate whether or not some of the green color is overlapping holes in the blue (Nucleoli)

Sorry if they already have been proposed earlier.

I tried this thing and after a difficult tutorial, I got 50k ISK per picture and each picture is taking a wile to figure out if you want to do it right.

I'm sorry but it's just too few ISK for this effort. AFK mining, or AFK ratting or incursions, or probing or... is making so much more isk for much less efforts. The ISK reward should be multiplied by 10 minimum to start considering it as an ISK source.

I'm sorry it's too bad for science but I will just leave it behind. I am a scientist myself and it's really a shame the the reward is poorly balanced (Yes I took the LP thing in consideration).

TL:DR : Efforts and very bad reward = I won't do it anymore.

Please FIX the UI...

The Zoom is terribad.. make it simple ctrl to turn on and of and hold and release to increase workflow speed.

Fix the position of the mouseover window with examples so it is persistent below mouse cursor.. the popping up all over the place makes menu maneuvering horrible..

Fix the slide into center, its not useful or nice design wise, just waste of time and shifts eye focus unwanted.. (seasick feelings for some users)

A bit of general faster and simpler responsiveness when handing in would really be nice..

The project is great and I love the whole thing, but the above mentioned and the rather meh payout is undermining long term usage and participation..

I would be actually happier if the ISK part will be completely removed. I think you're looking on Project Discovery as another job, like salvaging, while I see it as an exciting opportunity to help scientists in real life (which you probably do anyway, hence why your different view).

Please someone read this, don't let my time be wasted :D
Things that are more important imo first:

- Fix BUGS:
-- Often solutions don't get submitted, it just loads another sample then (very frustrating)
-- After submission it shows the selected options with percentages etc, it often pertains to the submission I made before that one
-- Often a sample loads a long time or just doesn't at all
-- Improve verification system, more than half of my submissions i ever made are still "pending"

- Things to ADD:
-- Add the option to make the window fullscreen
-- Add "advanced" tutorials with samples that are more difficult (irregularities, combinations, samples where one has to decide between several very plausible solutions, detailed explanation after etc.)
-- Option to skip a sample

- Things to IMPROVE:
-- Better descriptions for the selectable options (not just explaining the regularities)
-- More example pictures for the selectable options (not just showing the regularities)
-- The quality/resolution of samples

- IDEAS:
-- Remove "bad" samples from the system quickly (negatives and samples where people choose all kinds of options, so no solution is found)
-- Rewards should grow exponentially with more accuracy (low reward at like <80%, the real money comes with very good accuracy like 90% and above for example). This should also help with the bots or people not really caring and spoiling it for the others by always half heartedly submitting the same popular selections. In the end this game is more something you play while traveling or to kill time, so rewards are not that important imo.

Only have two things really.

Make the applet in-game expandable to full screen, because it's just easier to see all around, and secondly make it independent for those who want to play outside of EVE. Have a launch option from the initial game launcher platform, you are already logged in, so should work. Just have to tie to one of the toons. Finding this a lot of fun, so there are times I would just want to play it independently, like FoldIt.

Just the opinion of and actual Microbiologist and Geneticist.

These crowd source analytics games are great.

I am not sure if this is posted elsewhere: give players the possibility to share the image with corp mates. My corpmate had some images that made no sense at all to him and the only way for us to help him was to take a screenshot and upload it.

Was really awesome to be in teamspeak and talk with others about the picture, we actually felt like space scientists :-)
So please CCP make it happen.

Tried Project Discovery on SiSi today, got a few comments :)

  • The exclamation mark in the tutorial telling the reasoning behind a choice is not striking enough. Easily to overlook
  • The tutorial is still not really exciting. This is EVE so I can live with that. But if it is possible, please make it more clear that players should look for the green ;)
  • Wallet spam, a variety of people have asked about this since the first SiSi iteration. Is there a reason this cannot be switched to wallet ticks just like ratting does?
  • Removal of sample number before classification is nice! Removal of submission history is also nice, is there a possibility that in the now open space inbetween the AK amount of the player is displayed? Since hovering over the rank is the only way to check it atm it can be confusing.
  • The load a new sample button is very nice! But I only discovered it iby accident Straight maybe highlight it in the tutorial?

Looking forward to the release :)
