Parallax has been successfully deployed on November 3 during a slightly longer downtime.

Parallax delivers the much anticipated "Brain in a Box" performance improvement, as well as further fine tuning on sovereignty, jump fatigue reductions, a new opt-in probe scanning map, new ship skins and many more small changes.

The full details of all changes and improvements are available in the Parallax patch notes.

Please post general feedback and discussions in this thread.

Report issues with the release on the PC in the Parallax issues thread.
For Mac users, there is, as always, a thread on the Macintosh forums for discussion of this release here.

Hi CCP,

i consumed a Blood Cerebral short time before DT today. After the patch the remaining boost isnt there. There was over 1 day left ...

The new scanning interface should now be enabled. Check your ESC menus under "General Settings" - you should now see a box called "Try The New Probe And Directional Scanners".

Had to disable, close "esc" panel, re-enable and it now works

That's correct... announced here - all active accelerator effects were nullified, as part of the update.

I think i'm not getting that new scan interface, 'cause it ain't doing it for me right now.

edit: meaning that it's not working at all

Edit 2: It seems logging out and in again helps get the thing started

tbh it doesn't seem like that . skill that was training before downtime is still being trained at accelerated rate. so don't touch the skill queue ;)

How do you turn off d-scan graphic in the new map? It makes it harder to see when scanning. Also catching probes to adjust scanning radius is kinda annoying as you have to click precisely at the side of the bubble.

If you guys still have the boosted single skill - like the bug i call it after boost ended regular - then i've been hit double by 'brain in the box' - no boost and current untouched skill queue isnt boost .... seems to be a little bit unfair CCP

When having transparency set to 100 in the settings + while having pinned down all my windows the background of the new probe-scanner is somehow much darker than the rest, actually a lot more than the new d-scan. Thinking about fixing the same background? So it will be all in one "theme"?

EDIT: Here's a link of what i mean, screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/IBILU0N.jpg

Disabling and re-enabling AND restarting the client fixed the probing window for me. Still trying to recover probes I left in sapce tho, doesn't seem like finding them :p

I saw that over the last few days, while I was pausing training and then activating a new booster. I think the time estimate is a minor display bug with the skill queue, the countdown calculating once when the queue is set, separate from the underlying SP rate. I have a feeling actual skill train time is going to be longer than it shows ;)

Thanks CCP. You guys put out a hell of a game. Its current state is impressive and your plans for the future even more so.

That said, the new d-scan needs a fair bit of work.

Please remember that the d-scan is not a work of art. It's one of the most important combat tools in the game. A pvp player lives or dies by their dscan since it's the main source of real-time situational awareness:

* Did that Enyo just warp in together with that Merlin? There was no fight? Why not? Maybe they're together...
* Where is that Sabre now? At the gate? Nope. At a nearby pounce? Found him.
* Who's within 5AU of me? Within 1AU?
* Where's that Venture? Nope not dead ahead. So scan as I warp.... ok Belt 4. Bouncing.

The d-scan needs to be hair-trigger responsive and to offer real-time rolling intel. Your new version sure is pretty. But it doesn't take into account the cognitive dimension of the HUD tool. It doesn't swing around in space nearly fast enough. And it doesn't let the player change course and activate ship modules simultaneously as they gather intel. Or so it seems to me.

Please make sure to keep letting us use the old version while you bring the new one up to scratch.

Peace, love and autocannons.

The new D-Scan does this for you - just enable 'Align with Camera' works like a charm ...

Scanning

almost got a heart attack when i saw your new probe scanning screen and the red exclamation sign on the sidebar icon was gone ..... for a horrible moment i thought would try to shove your next iteration of the "enhanced" scanning on us without downgrade path.

THANK GOD the deactivation option is still there!

I just recently came back to use the oooooold version after extensivly testing the newer one - as it still offered the better functionality. This newest version (at first glance) looks even worse ...

A few remarks about the new probe thingy:

  • Hotkey for the scan button only works when focused on the probe scanner window.
  • Makes it kinda useless while scanning because you are focused on the map when moving the probes around. You'd have to click on the probe scanner window and THEN the hotkey works, but at that point you might as well just click the analyze button.

  • you can't resize the probe range by dragging the edge of the spheres when you are zoomed in to far. You have to zoom out until you see the entire scan area.

  • can't drag probes around properly because the mouse-over popup of the probes keeps getting in the way

Other than that it seems to work.
