Here's a hint, undo the patch that you applied ( that's knackered ) and run the servers without the new patch until you can afford to pay for proper coders to write patches that don't crash the system.

People are allowed to eat. Shocked

I am sure they are all stressed out their minds working towards a solution, and will continue working hard until they find it.

Sometimes things go wrong even when you do everything to try and make sure they don't. They will spend a lot of time investigating afterwards and look to improve their processes to try and make sure it doesn't happen again.

But now you told them the answer I am sure they will have it fixed in no time. ShockedBig smile

I bet, when it's finally figured out, it'll prove to be very simple.

for the want of a semicolon, a table was lost.
For the want of a table, a database was lost.
For the want of a database, a server was lost.
For the want of a server, a game day was lost.
And all for the want of a semicolon.

I am not going to gripe in this single post. That was in previous posts and in subsequent posts.

Today I have seen more "Pron" that I care to admit and have yet to get my jerk on. I may start writing erotic stories to pass the time.

1-I need an ideal place to upload donate them too.
2-I need subject matter to have stories focus on.

Feel free to message me ideas.

All this time has passed and it's a no fap no eve sorta day. What will end first?

You have obviously never worked with IT
Consider the timers etc, how would they react on a full code and DB-rollback?
If the server is unrecoverable, I am sure they will reload a previous backup, but that's nothing short of a last resort

Why don't they just hire you and fire all their current devs? I'm sure you'd do a better job than these professionals that have been working here for years!

Asshat.

Yeah, I mean things do happen. I have to say, in general, EVE is one of the more stable online games I have ever played. Besides about 1.5 years ago, it has been 2.5 years of pretty consistent game play.

There is nothing wrong with them actually saying they are taking a small break for food. Quite frankly, they probably are not. Keys are likely greasy now as they type and eat.

Don't know... back in the days, this kind of thing was not unusual. Good thing it only happened on patch days and patches were more epic and fewer and farther between.

I do know that somewhere around page 150, the devs get free pizza.

Fair enough. I assume that you have saved the previous state of the system--the one that was working before you attempted the fixes and patches. Why not roll back the changes, restore the status quo ante, and do some more testing offline?

This is the 1735th time someone suggested this. I guess it's not possible. Could lead to even worse scenarios. They need to solve the problem right now. It may even not be related to Sov changes or new content at all. It may be something old and rotten.

My friend recently fixed an error in code, which was there for very long. He works on a very large ERP-like system. But everyone expected the wrong behaviour. They tested everything, but still after the fix was deployed, everything crashed and they had to restore the previous state... :) Sometimes it's just better to keep it running.

Never fix what's not broken!

Only problem with your statement is that, THEY SHOULD have some kind of redundancy going JUST for a situation like this. If they don't, then they are not the brightest people. Any major corp or state agency who has stuff sitting on servers, has a backup server for that one INCASE something badly malfunctions. Then they make a switch, its same as always and they don't bring the main back online until they have it fixed or reimaged with the working copy on the backup server. Why they don't have have something like this in place is unreal. and if they do and the update updated both, then whoever configured the main and backup is a fricken idiot.
