So seriously CCP it's really time for a statement on this (and a few other Mac problems).

From the CSM summit notes on page 1 FoxFour talks about CCP wanting to kill the IGB sooner rather than latter. Fine, whatever I'm not getting into that debate. BUT as FoxFour mentions there is a lot of functionality and tools that still needs to be added to CREST before you can remove the IGB, but you will not work on the IGB at all anymore.

Great, but this is now begging the question... are you even trying to fix the crashing Mac IGB at all while we wait for the new CREST tools?

Or have your Mac users just been abandoned early while the rest of EVE gets to still use the IGB and it's related tools while they wait for CREST to catch up?

I will poke some people, but if this is a problem from within the IGB code, it's not getting fixed until we remove the IGB. Then it's fixed by just not existing.

This still happens to me with regularity on all of my Macs (iMac 27", MacPro, MacbookPro) running both Yosemite and El Capitan.

It's actually quite dangerous to click a link when you are say in a fleet which happened to me once while I was logi :-)

I notice that when someone gives me a URL the game freezes.. Mouse still moves but I cannot Alt+tab out of the game to close it.. I have to hold down the power button and restart the computer.

Is there a way to force close the game at that point? REALLLY fustrating.. been going on for a while.

I keep Activity Monitor running on a separate screen and force quit 2x 'EVE Online' and 1x 'wineserver' process. You still have to restart the client but it saves restarting the whole computer.

I'll just add a "me, too" to this thread.

I don't dare open the in-game browser for fear of EVE freezing completely. It's just a pain if you're in-station, but if you're out flying about, it can be deadly.

I've tried tossing my cache and settings -- sometimes that helps. I've done a full re-install, and that solved it temporarily, but it keeps coming back.

I've only been experiencing this for a couple weeks now, so not as long as others.

Really would love a fix for this. Most of the time I copy and paste a URL to an out-of-game browser, but sometimes I forget and click a killmail ... and then I'm out of the game for at least several minutes.

Hope we can get this fixed, CPP folks. I know you're busy, and I appreciate all you do, but this is getting a little old. Thanks very much for anything you can do.

All the best,

You may want to accelerate that programme then, After the new patch the old launcher will not update so we are forced to use the new beta launcher, which now means wormhole play is impossible without all the tools we use especially mapping that depend on the IGB.
or alternatively lose your OSX customers, either works.

Actually they fixed the IGB as of yesterday apparently. It should work no matter which launcher you use.

Now we didn't get the new shiny shield and armor effects so it's still a case of one step forward two steps back with the Mac client, but at least the browser works.

Reinstalled main client so that works, But Beta launcher still gives black screen in IGB and then Locks/freezes client
someone needs to realise that IGB crashing the client is not acceptable when they have not created a working OOG alternative to replace it.

Suck it up IGB is going! is not a reasonable response at this time.

New patch so I was hoping that this god-damn issue would go away but it's still persistent.

This time using my old folks iMac (so not even my older MBP or my own iMac)
Yosemite 10.10.5
iMac 27in mid-2011
3.4gHz i7 w 12GB RAM

It's extremely frustrating as I'm constantly terrified to accidentally click an out-of-game link

Try this

Client Repair Tool:
http://content.eveonline.com/client_repair/351/EveRepairTool.tgz

I did it this morning and it fixed everything for me, including the in-game browser.

Was initially hopeful as I had 2x start-ups with no issues opening IGB shortly after logging in.

However, the next 4x attempts failed.
Attempt #1 & #2: attempted to open IGB immediately
Attempt #3: waited 5min before attempting to open IGB
Attempt #4: closed launcher and client and re-did Eve Repair Tool. Waited while it downloaded latest patch again but then failed after attempting to open IGB

Are we ever going to fix this problem???
Tried the repair tool that doesn't work.
I've tried it on multiple Macs.
Clean install of OS and of Eve
Doesn't seem to make much difference.

Please can we get this fixed thank you

I have to say, since returning from vacation 2 weeks ago, the IGB has not crashed once! Hopefully this performance continues *touch wood* but it's a bit concerning that it was apparently fixed without the root cause being identified so there is the risk of recurrence.

Solved Issue I think.
I found that if I changed on the Mac preferences to what was my main browser then the game browser worked.
I switched from Safari to Firefox. I switched back and crashed again...
Now trying to figure out what setting in Safari sets it off.

Have been seeing this as well. Quite frustrating given that a lot of the content, tools and services to support this game are on the web. People linking in chat constantly - CCP where are your priorities these days!?!

Followed this advice from another thread on the issue and so far seems to have worked for me

Can you try one thing for me (if you're not afraid to get a bit technical)?

Make sure the launcher is not running.

In Finder, go to ~/Library/Application Support/EVE Online/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/SharedCache.

You should see a folder named cider-EveOnlinePremium-iso-010805-nodata-skel - delete that folder. Don't worry, settings are not stored in there.

Now restart the launcher and try starting up a client and see if the browser works.

I appreciate your help in trying to sort this out - it's frustrating when things work on my machine but not out in the field.

EDIT - have to delete that folder before you play every time - it is not a one time fix
