Something to keep in mind is that the more mobile force would have much greater control over where the fight would likely happen. But if they did get caught by the tankier force, yeah, it probably wouldn't be pretty.

That's why it's called jump fatigue. You can make a mad dash across half of eve with you cap fleet but you can't do it a second time cause your duder is tired. If you sprint your cap fleet across the universe to meet a threat, but then another entity attacks the other side of the empire you have no way of getting back quickly

Mobilizing your cap fleet may not be hard the first go around, but it does add a level of commitment and tactical thinking to the decision since you will not be quite as mobile if a second go around happens.

There's a pretty impressive amount of hyperbole in this thread. You're acting as though this gimmick fit will be some all-powerful tactic no one can compete with, when in reality it has several major drawbacks and some pretty straightforward counters.

Firstly, capital rigs and pirate implants aren't like flux coils you can swap out every 5 minutes. They're a pretty significant investment and expensive to change out. This means many fits (especially for armour-based supers, which are by far the most prevalent) will be severely lacking in terms of EHP and/or damage. An Erebus or Avatar with just one of these rigs and no slave set has about half the EHP it would normally have.
Of course that's before you start factoring in a travel fit for aligning at a reasonable speed, which is pretty risky when more than a handful of titans will be bumping each other off gates every jump and likely ending up out of refit range.

Roaming carriers and dreads are slightly more viable, but you'll need an awful lot of them. That's going to be tricky thanks to the low supply of ascendancy sets and the fact they cost more than the ship they're being used on. There's also something kinda amusing about capships carefully fitted for align time and warp speed sitting in siege/triage with a severely reduced tank.

Both kinds of fleets will be noticed by even the most inattentive ratter (supercaps are still on everyone's locator alt watchlists), and can be stopped dead by a pair of dictors (which will still warp+align faster than they do).

In null-sec this is going to a gimmick, and little else. The only place this might be any kind of problem is low-sec, and that's assuming CCP do nothing to address the hilarious imbalances of supercaps using gates there.

I think the changes are going to be reasonable and push some interesting doctrines. I have this half-baked idea of armor caps, with slaves and all, being used defensively while you have shield cap fleets with ascendancy sets in configurations to skirmish and try to hit multiple places, forcing the slower armor caps to either jump to get to the fight or accept an engagement where they have no chance at choosing the initial point of contact.

Sure, a chimera doesn't tank a DD without some interesting and/or shiny fits, unlike archons with slaves, but designing doctrines so that the now reduced titan spam can each eat 1 per cycle isn't necessarily going to doom it.

What is refitting off a carrier and how does it work?

The bulk of the speed comes from implants and rigs, not traditional modules.
