Wait... what??

Double negatives hurt my head :(

To clarify, I do not believe that making JFs exempt from the jump range changes (i.e. leaving their jump range as-is or longer than that of other caps) is a good idea.

If you guys dont mind me asking, what are the advantages of using a rorqual over a jf for hauling?

I'll say it again: JFs should not get preferential treatment in terms of range over other capitals. Yes, null is currently totally dependent on empire to fuel their industry. Yes, decreasing range means that JFs will need to take risks by taking regional gates if they want to avoid soul crushing jump fatigue.

These are good things. The ease with which a small number of players can keep a large corp / alliance supplied in the deepest areas of null is one contributing factor to the stagnation of nullsec. It should not be a simple matter to build the largest ships in the game in the farthest end of null almost entirely from imported materials.

I understand this will be a shock to the system, but it's also effing stupid that logistics is this easy.

-1 to keeping JF range unnerfed.

Obviously you don't live in Cobalt Edge and it doesn't require you 20 JF jumps to get to nearest reachable empire station having to gothrough non-sov systems without stations.

Rorqual can defend itself to a certain degree, can carry assembled mining ships, can compress ore, can tank, can run warfare or mining links, and while it has less cargo can carry more ores

Bigger ore capacity, esp when combined with fuel optimizers.

There were far less "freighter convoys" then you make it sound and everybody ******* hated it. The only times there were any "real" escorts was when we brought in station egg's.. Please lets not re-write history shall we? Local industry did happen but A) not on any meaningful scale and B) not for a very long period of time.. I understand that when you look back things look better then they had actually been but people can't be this jaded to call that crap fun. Back then there was way less people in the game no blops and such so the risk to freighters moving about with a scout or two was zero.

Hello Page 402.

It's good to see you. I wasn't sure you were going to make it, but it's not like it matters, posts after the first 2500 are pointless. At least ISD is here to read these posts, even if devs are not.

Some people thinks eve moves too fast. In fact, that's the reason all of my gaming friends quit. They were like 'There was just too much PVP! I had like 10 minutes to play, and I was able to find like 3 fights, easily! I never had to travel for 45 minutes through empty systems looking for dudes who wouldn't run away!' I can't wait to invite them back to the game. I'm sure they'll be overjoyed to travel 20 jumps in a big slow ship, and if things go badly, they can just take a jump bridge that we pay billions of isk for a couple times and be unable to play for a day or two.

But yes, the blue donut. How dare people band together. If only there was a way we could get those people to really defend their space, you know, by making it difficult for them to move around. So they'd be stuck there, with all their ships and all their danger-free ratting. I know! We'll make it hard for someone to invade them by putting them out of range of everything! It's such a perfect idea. Unintended consequences, why would we worry about those.

And the difficulty of buying stuff? They're fixing that! You just make them make everything. Everyone has to build! Because everyone should be building all the parts of all their ships in their space. I mean, once they get all their ingredients. But it should be funny when they realize that their home regions don't make all the parts they need. They'll need towers on the other side of the galaxy to build stuff. Isn't that crazy?! Who needs Jita when you can just gather all the stuff yourself by encouraging people to stay home!

Anyway, I've taken up enough of your time. Say hi to walking in stations for me, and I hope your monocle is fitting better than ever.

Love and kisses,
Fortress Deklein

PS. Send isk, I have sov bills to pay. Oh wait, have plenty here, nevermind.

But isn't that the dream that CCP has for the game, which we are surely moving towards with this new changes, as intended?

I do remember freighter convoys being mentioned by them... maybe even in this thread or some other related discussion.

Nope. Lived in Outer Passage back when JFs weren't even available, and built outposts out there as well. Suck it up buttercup. and realize that you can take gates. And get off my lawn.

I think they mean that the JF loses a significant bit of volume if you use the lows for non-expanders. While the rorqural does as well, the ore bay is obviously unaffected.

Sigh... just how much moon minerals am I using that comes from places so remote they might not be mined post-patch.

This is basically CCP trying to cartel the eastern nullsec moongoo...

Deklein, the way BL and co are looking at you, I think you might need to consider what you're wearing. 5LY doesn't cover much

Using jump economizers doesn't affect ore bay capacity, so your isotopes/m3 for ore is way lower than with JFs.

You seem to be making some incorrect assumptions that i'm somehow unhappy with these changes while i'm simply pointing out the facts so that CCP can take it into account while hopefully making an informed decision without undesired consequences.

No, if you aren't cheerleading for CCP's efforts you must be in pain over something

A couple of things, so please bear with me .....

I can understand why CCP has started to, for lack of a better term, "dumb down" their game.

Eve is probably the single most complex game made to date. People have built websites and blogs (other than the Wiki) to help with things like building a dickstar, or just simply setting up your tower the best way possible, or showing the research time needed for a BPO to get to a certain level, or living in a WH. Just in this thread I've even see that someone doesn't understand how a POCO gantry and the 32 assorted pieces to upgrade it can fit into an Iteron. This game is quite frankly something for folks that want to invest not just time, but brain power.

What I can't understand are the posts that welcome this change.

Guys, this is a game. Its ridiculous to wait on a jump fatigue timer that the dev's have said could last up to a month.

Or not.

It might change, they don't know yet. This tells me that they haven't even thought this out completely.

Even if we have a jump fatigue reduction on a JF pilot, the range limit counteracts this. If jump range is limited to 5 LY versus 11.25 LY as it is now with maxed out skills, you're making at least two to three times the number of jumps so that you can hit station systems. Trying to move stuff like ice products to build fuel blocks, or the minerals and ores for ship building, or just moving items from a major market like Jita to stock your local low-sec/null-sec markets, or moon goo to fund SRP, has now become a nightmare.

Just like the UI failure a couple years ago. Just like the launcher failure last year. Just like corp roles and towers firing on blues.

Someone is hellbent on making a change but it's not even planned out. That right there should be enough of a clue that this isn't going to be a good thing whether you agree with it or not.

It's entirely possible that making it difficult to get things out to Cobalt Edge / Outer Passage from empire is not, in fact, an undesired consequence from CCP's standpoint. It's also entirely possible that since the 5LY max jump range was a conscious decision on the part of CCP specifically to limit interregional jump travel, that forcing folks to use regional gates with their capitals if they want to avoid long jump chains was entirely intentional.

Granted, you might not have been complaining about the changes from a personal perspective, and if that's the case then so be it. But there are a lot of folks in this thread who have been citing the difficulty of getting stuff from empire to the ass end of dronelands specifically because of the time impact to their massive solo industrial efforts out there.

It's not the dumbing down they like (because it adds more stuff in terms of the fatigue timer)'

It's because they've been promised the promised land of deklein and can't wait to end our 0.0 dream.
