I'm probably going to lose my two hundred million ship from all this. What the hell is the point of this game anymore if I might just lose everything from a simple connection problem?

Just relax. Connection issues happen - and when they are issues with your personal LAN or your local ISP, there's not much CCP can do, as their logs are not going to show anything.

However, you are in luck! In a situation like like, every single player has been knocked offline and CCP is aware that something is wrong. When you log back in, you will either find yourself in that fancy spaceship OR you will find yourself not in that fancy spaceship. In the event that said fancy spaceship is not around anymore, just take another deep breath and relax and ...

Submit a support ticket. Be nice about it. Understand that a real human being who works for CCP is going to be the one reading it, and that he has probably been reading support tickets for many hours. Don't scream at him, rage about how awful things are, or delude yourself into thinking that the CEO of CCP Games is the one dealing with your support ticket. Pretend he is just like you probably are, a human being who works a job for around 8 hours a day and has to deal with customers. Pretend it's you getting the support ticket and make it easy on him - link your lossmail, link any other relevant information that will help him deal with the situation quickly, and thank him for his time. It's easy.

If you take a loss due to a downtime like this, CCP will take care of you. As one who has had quite a few ships replaced due to things like this - let me assure you that being polite, rational, calm, and chill will get you *everywhere*.

could be worse.... Could potentially lose access to your W-space system that is housing your roughly 10+ bil isk POS

No scanner alt hanging out in the POS, just in case?

Bad move Ugh

I just hope I don't loss my ship. I was about to target an ice asteroid when the server craped out. And I can't stand the idea of having to submit a petition to get it back and the very long wait from CCP that normally follows with petitions.

I just don't know why anyone would find attacking a server in this manner profitable other then to make an idiot of your self.

Some attacks are not for profit and instead are just done because some one is bored or pissed and need attention

Doing it for attention or because your annoyed or upset at something is still profit because your doing something to get something hence profit. I wasn't implying the money kind.

People who are whining about it's CCP's fault for not able to play the game. THERE IS LITTLE THEY CAN DO AGAINST A DDOS!

Ddos are cheap yet terrible effective, They will clog up servers with packages. And if the server migrates and the scriptkiddies want to keep it down they just move their attacks to the new location.

I played world of warcraft for 8 years and they never lost the servers due to a DDoS attack.

WoW is too lame even for Ddos guys hahahahahahahaha

Don't want exact details, I untherstand that reasoning.
Just want to know is it a DDOS attack or is it in relation to the last patch.

Ow and I'm verry calm about this :) It just sucks that now that I have time to play the server is down.

With CCP, anyway. I've long since exhausted my options in regards to being nice to DMV employees. But they're not people anyway.

One of ours, ten of theirs.

Thanks, Derrick. Really cool of you to say that - I don't always agree with the things a lot of people here post, but I think we can all stand together and agree that a video game having some unscheduled downtime is not the end of the world and that players calling for the actual RL death of those responsible for this downtime really need to just find something else to do for a little while :P

Sure - but punishment along these lines would nevertheless be appropriate...

ERM.... They've been ddos's plenty. A 30 second Google search proved that real quick.
