Who ever did this shameful act would have took time to look for the name so should show up on CCTV.

The toon Gelvon started in 2010 and Gelvon Goblin started in 2012, so the 'Real' Gelvon may or not be the scumbag who scratched the plate, but Gelvon Goblin I believe is innocent as he came forward.

CCP maybe looking for a ghost or not.

Shameful act anyway you look at it.

You only realise you life has been a waste of time, when you wake up dead.

I think this pretty much sums it up.

vandalizing the monument is way overboard. These are "adults" doing this really pretty sad.
I think if it is found out who the player(s) are they are vandalizing the monument the related EVE accounts should be perma ban.
And as well as punished based on the countries laws of vandalism.

Poor taste.

Xenuria Alt spotted.

Defacing public monuments is disgraceful. I agree that whoever is responsible should be punished to the fullest extent that Icelandic law permits.

Wow...this is about as low as you can sink. In game I hate tons of people, corps, and alliances; however, out of game, I really dont have a passionate hate for them. I consider eve real, but this goes beyond the spirit of the game. Yes, kill and blow someone elses stuff up in game, steal it, make them cry, but when it comes to RL...thats crossing the line.

I hope CCP can get that name repaired on the monument, everyone deserves to have their name there. I agree with the sentiment of others though, if found responsible who ever did this should be perma-banned. If you can not respect the community out of game, then this obviously is not a game for you.

it was ISD Ezwal in the bonus room with mayonnaise.

Why are you so surprised? EvE is above all a deep game. Yet 80% of the players never will know as they are only able to see they can grief and seek victory in 'colecting tears'. Tears are not a value in market, not betters your dps, nor... anything at all in game. It affects the feelings of the other persone who feels grieved, sometimes a lot.

I know so many times this has being discused and even fought. But the point here is not in game but irl, the kind op people is playing EvE and why are they attracted to it.

I started playing in 2008 and I have seen this game getting worse and worse at the player base no matter the tremendous efforts from CCP to create an incredible scy-fi universe for us to inhabit, conquer, warfare or the miriad of activities possible only here.

Nope, I am not surprised at all because of what this subnormals did to the monument.

One way or the other, we need to try and keep the monument intact. Someday, it may be found by an advanced species.

They say most of your brain shuts down on the EvE forums. All but the impatient side, and the sarcastic side. No wonder I'm still awake.

I'm more than surprised, I'm shocked.

I hope CCP come down on the person who did it like a ton of bricks, from a very great height.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Ha! I love The Mittani's voiced disgust on that Twitter post, because we all know he's a man of such high moral fiber.

Yes, it's vandalism. No, it shouldn't have happened. Yes, it's a **** move.

Any word on how much that real life e-peen monument cost to build? Like someone said before, it's a monument to a bank account dressed up as an homage to players. Personally, I'd rather have WiS and new shiny ships than a monument. I'm sure some people let go after that 20 million euro loss would rather have jobs, too.

The point is that the focus here should be the fact that an Eve player committed an act of vandalism at Fanfest, not that an Eve player committed an act of vandalism on a phallic e-peen video game monument. All these comments like, "Oh, you're such a horrible person" and "You should be beaten severely" are just as ridiculous. Get over yourselves and your bleeding hearts. Someone scratched someone's name out on a chunk of metal, and while it's rude, classless, and petty, people are rude, classless, and petty every single day. Go to any major city and see graffiti ruining facades of historic, MEANINGFUL landmarks and cultural treasures. It's a travesty.

This is not. This is a crime, and should be dealt with as such. People have made other people literally cry in Eve, yet we all love "the tears". Scratch someone's name on a monument, post it on Twitter, and people will actually call you the famous German dictator. Go ahead...check it out...it's in the comment section of the Twitter post.

Let's get this straight: it's fine to torment people in-game to the point of tears or extreme bouts of rage, yet scratch someone's name out on a monument (again, it's a crime...but you're treating it as a crime against humanity) and all of a sudden you're outraged and all take the moral high ground.

Got it.

Let CCP clean it up and charge the guy who did it. Everyone else should save their ever-present outrage and go blow up more spaceships. "It's just the internet" doesn't apply anymore. Being a **** is being a ****, wherever you are.

The build cost isn't the half of it.

They hired Sigurdur Gudmundsson to create it, and he isn't just some unknown nobody of an artist. I don't even want to try and guesstimate how much they had to pay him.

His stuff pulls in crazy amounts of money at auctions.

Lets add another bit
During pub crawl I tried to snag one of the sweet polar beer hats (seriously did you guys tack weld those things to your skulls?)
I ended up gettng my arm jammed out of socket, a submission hold, some one trying to choke me in a restraint, a rather sizable bruise on my arm and a shaved knuckle

I ended up being tracked down and apologized to by the hat defenders the next day.

So here is something that by all rights they acted as they should in defending their leader's hat and they came and managed to find and apologize to me.

And you say its normal to deface property from this?

Incidentally the airplane seats did more damage and I am currently restricted in how my back moves due to that
zero g harnesses when?

Oh and the punch to the head QI got when I started switching peoples hats when they went for the flags

I think I have a thing for hats when I drink
Still beat most of you though with the not having a hangover bit despite drinking more tequila than you

No, I have not and I am aiming only to who I am aiming. Mybe there is only a 10% of those then? Ok, no problem, I take it back. I dont mean missrespect to the player base as a whole. But still too many to (almost) ruin what I consider a wonderfull creation.

Yes.... those airplane seats.

I am 6'4" and have a very high sensitivity to pain, those cramped in seats where not fun. On the way back I got special seating that gave me the leg room I needed to not feel like I was being shipped as a product. I remember seeing Le Mittani Face on the plane. I said hi to him and mentioned that I was comfortable in the new seats. He gave an awkward smile and turn around facing his back to me. He does that sometimes, lol...

Visited the monument at about 6PM on the 5th to find my name and there's a bunch of scratches around it ( http://media.fyre.co/fTAYkHPlTqk6TfYP2bjL_nyphur.jpg ). It looks accidental though and it'll probably buff out, I'm just annoyed at myself for not getting a photo earlier before it was scratched up. How hard is it to scratch anodized aluminium?
