Because this isn't EVE.

Don't bother, James.

Carebears can't separate the game from real life. To them, every lost pixel is a dagger in their poor hearts. Everything you need to know about Rivr Luzade you can learn from his post at the bottom of the second page of this thread.

All we can hope for is that this time someone does some actual legwork in investigating before we burn the witch.

It should be fairly easy, if not quick.

That pic was, in all likelihood, taken with a cell phone. Twitter traces IPs and keeps records like any TC company, they are required to comply with law enforcement. IP route traced to phone, phone is registered to a real person, boom.

Only sticking point is that I am not aware whether or not they sell burn phones in Iceland like they do in the U.S. But I highly doubt the individual is that savvy. [edit: And even if they are, in order to avoid paying for said burn phone with a credit card, they would have had to make a monetary exchange. Which are also tracked.

Thanks. I thought I was off.

I have a bunch of theories on how to catch the guy but I have no real access so I'm going to sit here and shake my head.

Then what is it? And if it is not EVE related (which it clearly is, because it stands for the EVE Universe), why is everyone so particularly mad about this particular monument?

Well, with that problem I would not stand alone if people seem to go to such great lengths to accuse (allegedly) innocent bystanders of vandalism. Roll

My ridicule, heavy criticism and general pale outlook about your or CCP's ideas is nothing but an encouragement to prove me wrong. Give it a try.

I really don't think anyone gives two ****s if it was Goblin or not. Whomever it is, is an affront to the community, nevermind having actually committed a crime.

You, on the other hand, seem to think it's fine. Because, what was it you said? Oh yeah:

Or, they could just have the authorities extract the hidden EXIF metadata from the image. If it was taken with a modern phone or a digital camera there should be some very usable stuff in there.

Uh... no they aren't. They can quite freely say, "**** you, come back with a warrant." Good luck getting a judge in the US to issue such warrant for a case of vandalism in Iceland.

ridiculous. defacing an actual physical monument, while a guest in the host country, is wrong.

perp needs banning at the least, if not criminal charges.

It is not made of pixels within Eve GAME, it is real object created by real people funded by real money and placed in real world. That makes it real crime not pixel space shenanigans.

There is a difference between exploding your space ship called hulk and made of pixels and exploding your real car with a bumper sticker saying "hulk".

Adding my voice to those who are disgusted with this. There's no love between me and Xenuria, I think he's a complete idiot. But this isn't the way to make a statement.

You would be surprised just how often "just lucky" works, oddly enough.

Whoever did it likely searched for Xenuria's name with the name finder tool. Is it possible to find out IPs who sent requests for that name earlier today around the tweet time?
