Wow this thread is over 70 pages long now. It raises the question of whether Soundwave is actually reading all of this anymore.

Please allow for repackaging of items and or ships at POSs.

For those living out of a POS and having no direct access to nearby stations (wh dwellers) please give us the ability to repackage items and ships.

Can you add a on/off option in settings for this UI element?? Its the thing that gives you actions when you hold left click on ships/objects. I keep bringing it up by accident, its really annoying me because when it pops up it makes the mouse panning action very intermitent.

Adrian, I believe there's an option to change it to your middle mouse button, so that may help, but I don't think you can turn it off (not in-game right now, so can't check).

Hi there,

There is one thing that keeps coming back to my wish list for Eve.
A better way for operating my spaceships.
Not that i think there is anything really wrong wit the interface, but ide like a more immersion enhancing interface.
Ide pay for a replacement keyboard which would have touchscreens for most UI functions such as overview, your drones, action window, HUD, etcetera.

So, no changes to the UI at all, the only difference would be that the UI resides on your keyboards touchscreens.

What do you think.
Could CCP get some more sales besides the game through this kind of keyboards?

As for advantage, it will be exactly the same as clicking, instead your touching your keyboard, i doubt there will be a benefit compared to clicking with a mouse.

As for the niche market or price.
You need volume to get prices down.
Steering wheels for your racing game are also niche, they only work nicely for racing games.

Maybe it should be a more general keyboard which has the touchscreens, which other games can hook into aswell.
It would be less niche than any steering wheel.y
Also think, when talking about costs, that these screens need not to be full color.
There are also ways to just show the overview, action wndow etc on trhe touchscreens and use button like arrays shaped as HUD for the HUD.

This is ofcourse just the basic idea, but surely, if you think about it, its possible to drive cost down and widen the market for such keyboards.

Atleast, in my opinion.

I could even see a promotional plan from CCP giving this KB away, or, ask a small fee for this Keyboard for promotional purposes for the game EvE, since control of spaceships is an often heard complaint in WASD/joystick form, which is not feasible for EvE (WASD/joystick spaceship control). This could undermine such criticism completely, because there would be a device to control your spaceship.

It is about better game immersion, and a marketing tool for EvE. It could help subscriptions.

Maybe something for the NeX store aswell where it can be bought with PLEX or Aurum

It would have build-in touchscreen(s) for action window, overview, drone control and maybe HUD.

It would be larger or the qwerty and numeric part much smaller to have room for these touchscreen(s)
It would also mean, i dont have to display all these things on my playing screen, so i could fully appreciate what i am seeing without these controls obscuring parts of the screen.

It would make use of some sort of API, part of UI setup would be where you would like to have your overview for example if it detects the keyboard with these touchscreens.
Touchscreen should be small Tablet size and maybe have 2 of them, 1 on each side. (or something like that)

It most probably has been mentioned before, but it's quite annoying, so I say it again:

Please make the UI windows stop resizing and moving when its not intended!

If I pin a window down, it should not become transparent, but sticky. I then have found a final position and dont want it to be moved accidentally.
Now it frequently happens that I accidentally drop a window onto another one, resizing it and merging the windows. That should not be possible, if a window is in a FIXED state.
It causes me great pain when I have to rearrange windows all the time.

Not to mention that patches now and then (like yesterday) reset the whole UI.
Also, when docking/undocking, windows tend to move around and cause trouble.

And last: there has to be some solution for those windows between which you need to drag items around (cargohold, hangar, fitting-screen, trade window). They usually appear on top of each other so you have to spend a lot of time resizing windows again when you just want to perform a simple action like fitting a certain module.

Managing a long list of bookmarks can be very tedious. I would like:

- A Filter textbox on the People & Places window, like the ones on the top right corner of inventory windows.
- The ability to rename multiple bookmarks (e.g. select 5 bookmarks, right click, rename all to "safe")
- Cake

Downtime notifications need rewording - the shutdown time and time-to-go is obscured in a wall of text.
Either the titlebar, and/or the first line of text (preferably in a different colour) should state clearly the number of minutes to go, a blank line, then the rest of the message.
e.g.

-- Daily Downtime -----------------------
15 minutes until downtime!

The servers will be shut down at
11.00 UTC for 15 minutes.
Make sure your ships are in a
safe place.

"Macro builder"

Create UI buttons by chaining actions.

Example:

You open up "macro builder" window.
You insert actions in a prefered order of execution by clicking those actions.

You save as (insert title), maybe choose Icon, and presto, a new button on your UI that chains all the commands in one click.

(ofcourse not every chain need to be supported)

Also

Make nul-sec way bigger.
Actually, it should grow "automatically" by X regions if an X amount of regions is not "free" for use.

It will give current nul-sec inhabitants a way to grow further.
It will give new players, if they put in the time, a chance to own a piece of null-sec and play with sov and politics.
It will give null-sec players something to shoot at again.
It will entice new players to keep playing since higher goals are more easily obtained.
It will entice highsec industrialist to find an home in null-sec and set up markets in null-sec.
It wil give new players a fair start in highsec since they will be competing against new players if they choose to venture into trading/industry and such.

Once you think you have it all, you have actually become ignorant towards everything else.

Cease the module "cannot be stacked" dialogue just be intelligent and move the module into the destination space anyway but don't stack it. Its annoying, achieves nothing and gets in the way when moving quantities of modules from place to place. This is now a dinosaur feature i.e. its been around in EVE since...

Haven't checked if it was posted, but could you homogenize the right-click mechanics.

One thing I would really appreciate if you could select "search in contracts" and "view market details" for items in the LP store.

Both the itmes that you can buy there and the required ones as well.

 1. Being able to rename station warehouses and other containers inside the corp hangars would be great.
 2. Repacking items inside containers would also be sweet
 3. Unless I remember wrong being able to refine corp assets inside corp hangars would be lovely

TL;DR: Less fast disappearing text popups, more audio alerts.

One of the things that really frustrates me is when I try to do something and it doesn't work. I can never seem to figure out why. I'm in a mission, combat log is flying by so fast I can't see what the error message was. I can't read it on the screen cause the box disappears so fast.

When I first started playing, I organized my overview to have the information I cared about. I'm real fussy with my UI and screen real-estate. I set up my columns in my overview to take up the entire window region. I had no idea that the left over "gutter" region is where the ECM icons would show up. For the first 6 months of play, I'd try to warp out only to realize someone was scrambling me and I'd lose my ship. I never knew which ship it was. I never knew when it was happening. Little icons not appearing (no gutter space in my overview). Text windows in the middle of my screen that flip so fast, I can't read them. Log windows that scroll with more information than I can possibly read. Little jamming bars at the bottom of my screen that I'd never notice. I'm in a ship that can give audio alerts for shields/armor/hull damage, speak to me as it warps around on autopilot, why can't it speak or beep when I'm being scrammed or jammed?

What I would like is the ability to enable/disable audio alerts for important items that are only currently available through tiny visual elements in the UI.

End the buy order that can't be filled scam. If I don't have the isk to cover a buy order at its minimum quantity, then that order should go away.

If the requirement is to have enough ISK in wallet to cover all active buy orders, then Margin Trading is useless.

That's not an issue. For most orders, the minimum buy order is really small compared to the overall order. For example, if I have a billion unit buy order for trit with minimum buy size of 1,000,000 units, say at 3 isk each, then the minimum amount of isk I would need to keep in my wallet is 3 million isk, not 3 billion isk.

Since my original post was eaten by the interwebs:

These are just a couple things I would love to see added to the game:

-- New systems
Could even make it a year-long world event. Add new systems, lots of them, everywhere, empire space, lowsec, nullsec, maybe even new W-space. Have pilots explore and stumble upon new systems, and then provide material to build the new stargates between the systems in exchange for LP or something. Connections can be pre-determined but let the pilots help. Let the systems grow organically, going with jumps into the new regions as it is expanded.

This could be pushed to have pilots help build new stations inside the systems. This is how I see it. Pilots equip say a new jump drive that randomly ports you to an adjacent system. Maybe you'll get lucky and you'll jump from a system with a new connection. Once there an 'anchor' can be deployed, letting anyone with this new jump drive jump to that system. The systems start out with 0.0 security (since CONCORD isn't there) but as the gates get built, if the system is to be highsec the security gets set and CONCORD moves in to police the system. Lowsec and nullsec CONCORD could come in to protect the gate construction, then once they're done, they leave. Security affects if they're everywhere or just by the gate during construction.

This will make us feel like we're true explorers. Ambitious but could be very fun.

-- Incarna

Finish Walking in stations. Don't devote the entire company, put like 5 people on it. Build in the corporate offices, allow people to setup games, stores, bars, in spaces. Buying equipment from shops in stations could avoid tax or something to encourage it. While some of the stations will be busy (like Jita) some of the backwater corners would be quiet. This could be combatted by having the shopping area sized according to use. The backwater station could have one or two places for rent for shops or games, and if traffic increases more get added, or if traffic decreases and spaces are vacant, decrease. Would mean trade hubs like Jita could have big malls to walk around in, it isn't an abandoned ghost town on quiet stations.

More customisation options! The new character creator is amazing, but colour choices are lacking. If i wanted to I should be allowed to have pink hair and yellow lips. Skin tones are fine, as we are human, but hair colours, makeup colours, etc. are quite limited. On the same vein, decouple piercings from one another. I shouldn't have to choose between a ring in the left nostril and a nose bridge piercing, for example.

Could also introduce skills and patterns to make clothes to sell. Could build a clothes builder like in All Points Bulletin, only better, allowing us to customise the cut, fit, shape, with limits to keep it within ratings.

Race changes, or even bloodline changes, should be possible, for a fee. If I get podded I get cloned, or if I use a jump clone im in a new body. It shouldn't be impossible to change my bloodline, or even my faction. Charge me a Plex, or X isk, for the service and people will pay.

-- Misc

Fix more of the little quirks, like drones not honouring focus fire all the time. Drones should also prioritise based on their size in aggressive mode properly. I.E. light drones deal with frigs first, then cruisers, etc. etc.

I know that seems like a lot, but a girl can dream, can't she? :)

in the hope that soundwave's secretary notifies him about new posts in this epic threadnaught....

i wish for a Local-Channel-Mini-Mode where you can
-> collapse the input area completely or at least to a single line (because: i don't really want to say much in local often)
-> collapse the messages pane of it (because: truth be told, there rarely is anything of itnerest beside scams, smacktalk and links to offensive pages some ppl never thought they exists on the interwebs)
-> extreme minimode, even collapses the names so you only see a small list of avatar thumbs
-> hardcore minimode reduce the list to 5 numbers (pilot count -10 standing, -5 standing, =, +5, +10)

-> condensed hardcore minimode: only 2 numbers (friendly-count, non-firendly-count)
(because : noone really cares about anything else) Pirate

When right clicking locked target Icons I would like to see the adittion of "Mine" and "Mine Repeatedly" for use with all your Mining Drones in space. Also a shortcut key for the same action would be nice.

Feature proposal: Mass purchase in LP shop. For example i want to buy 10000 starbase charters. I have to click buy, click ok, do it 20 times. Putting all your LP into those charters turns into click nightmare.

If I double click a blueprint it should open the manufacturing window.

Maybe stargates could get out of the overview all together and have thier own hud area??

and...

I have a small idea for ship cargo hold organisation. If a simple tickbox where added to each piece of cargo in your ships hold this would give three levels of organisation; ticked un-ticked and all items. A small toggle button in the ship cargo window would toggle between those three states. I guess all the data could be saved client side so no extra load is put on the servers.

This would give the benifit of better organisation of players ship cargo. I would personaly tick items that 'belong' to that ship, ie ammo, alternate modules, spare drones, scripts. and un-tick stuff/loot that im going to drop off in a hanger.

Obviously automatic ammo reloads/CTRL-R function would work regardless of the view you have choosen.

example;

I see a few benifits with my idea over using cargo containers. With cargo containers you are opening a new window taking yet more space on the HUD with multiple containters that gets even worse and more complicated, plus it is a lot more clicks to empty multiple containers back in your hanger. With ammo inside containers you can not CTRL-R to reload with my suggestion CTRL-R would work in all cases.

This idea could complement the use of cargo containers. Imagine having several containers some full some empty, now I would tick everything that I want vissible in space (ammo, scripts) plus one working container im loading with loot and all the other stuff I dont immediatly need hidden. If you where using strip miner crystals you could hide the broken ones and keep the stack of new ones vissible.
