I would like a DEV response to my forum post on T2 blueprints

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=34082

Is the current situation concidered OK or is this going to be at least looked at for POSSIBLE changes in the future?

Here is one, and i do not know if anyone pointed it out.
When I am using my current overview to scan, say, my current overview is of pvp-enemies, which only shows enemy ships, when i go to scan to see if there are any ships out there, i would like it so that no fleet member's ships show up on scan.

More interface feedback when beginning a warp. The schizophrenic velocity meter is hard to decipher sometimes. (i.e. if it's full, why am I still not warping out)

On a similar note, reduce the collision box for acceleration gates slightly; I'm tired of getting caught on them. I'd rather see artwork clip than my gameflow interrupted.

Thanks for the good work Soundwave!

Two minor tweaks/suggestions: A more symmetrical layout for the aft cannon placements for the Rifter would add more awesome to everyone's favorite frig. And a little less smoke/steam/cosmic vapor in the ship bay would help all the ships look even better.

Oops, three suggestions: my three year old misses the smile on the Vexor! Smile

mining crap or ore even mining in null sec is tough unless you control the entire region. Then a Botting we all go. as with the current system bot is able to log off before any belt is reached

Can we take the belts off the over view and put them as scann able items this way non- bot miners will have a chance to evac the belt if a hostile jumps into system

The current
Instant local and overview asteriod belts makes boting I think super easy or atleast bot ratting.

Someday I will have the time to play. For now it is mining afk in High sec. In Cheap ships

CCP is there any chances youll rotate this by expansion(lock this one start new one)? It be awful to try to look though couple hundred of pages of posts with some of the thorns resolved/outdated while new ones pop up?

As to add to the List though:
I hate it when drone bay window auto closes when you have 0 drones there should be an option to have it perma open on ships with drone bays.

* I would like Wormholes to get there own option on the Scan Menu. I dislike scanning for Sigs in K Space to have to scan out 1-2 extra wormholes to find the goodies. As well it would make it easier for those inside to find both exits and content w/o having to search for both at the same time.

* The Omen could use a tiny amount Grid / CPU.

* EVE is made up mostly of Police NPC's Pirate NPC's and Players. NPC Yachts, Freighters, Shuttles and Haulers moving between Gates, Stations and Planets as well as Mining Barges in belts would be nice. Make New Eden seem full of life besides us, good guys and bad guys.

I would like some simple bug fixes, thanks. Ok one of these is not a bug. This is a copy and paste from my post somewhere else... little stuff that bugs me and i wanted to whine about.

1. The Blinking Freaking Bloomy Wallet.
  • The settings selection for blinking don't always work. In particular the blink on order changes versus blink on transaction changes, even more specifically if i update an order the BFBW goes off with just transactions checked.
  • The highlighted wallet and tabs only clear when clicked on, not when the information is viewed via pressing the "Load" button.

2. The "character sheet" button becomes highlighted when I have no skill being trained on the character I log in on to even if a character on that account IS training a skill.
  • Perhaps even more annoying, the big screen in the captains cabin displays an "alert" about not having anything being training and admonishes you for not having one in training - while training a different character on that account.

3. The inaccessible compare tool.
  • If you don't know where this tool is, you can't be blamed. It can only be turned on while viewing the info screen for an item, with the variations tab selected (still with me?) and happen to look at the very bottem of the window. There is a button labeled "compare" - you have to select it. O yea, - and you have to be viewing an item in the info screen that actually has "variations" - more on that later.
  • The only two ways i've found to add an item to the compare tool is to:
  • (a) Own the item and drag it to the compare tool.
    (b) Click that compare button noted above (which has the added annoyance of adding ALL the different modules if you only wanted one)
This means that if an item does not have a "variation" and you don't own it there is no way to get it on the compare tool.
Its a shame that this otherwise excellent tool is so hard to add things to. You ought to be able to drag things to it from the market screen, contracts, etc.

    4. "That Item is not stack-able" - so i'm not going to move it bug
  • While dragging something from one cargo container to another, and you happen to hit the same none stackable item in the destination container you get this bug. If you have lots of one item that are all non-stackable (bpc for instance) this can be very annoying. It should transfer to destination container anyway.

5. Market list (from clicking on a category) does not always display the correct "Best price in Region/System/Station".
  • This has been around so long that perhaps its a feature and not a bug?

In addition to this: http://i.imgur.com/1R7lI.jpg as i mentioned in my previous post, a little more configurability for the target overlays could be nice. Being able to add targets' velocities, transversals, etc to the target overlay could be really helpful, since its often hard to pick out relevant information quickly on a crowded overview.

To clarify, I mean having the option of making this info come up under your active target icons-- you know, where it has the ship icon with health bars and distance.

UI > Tactical
- Add directional scan option for a 5s auto refresh; ok, I can see an argument for imposing a manual workload requirement while fighting so it's easier to overlook further incoming hostiles when overworked - but it is a bit tedious, isn't it.

* Targeting multiple ships can reset the entire locked target order (lock 5, allow to finish locking then lock two more and see where they go); As logi, I want cap chain targets in the same place, kthx. Put new targets at the back of the queue. That this doesn't happen anyway is probably a bug.

* Manually resortable watch list; As logi, I may want to sort the watch list by function, meaning that most of the time I have to clear out the whole thing to logically order it. Permit me to drag and drop names, so that I don't have to remove/readd multiple people to restore.
- Clear entire watch list; Maybe I won't want this with the above, but why not? Sometimes you will want to start over after a fleet reconfiguration, (i.e. your CS pilots from before, don't have them now) without having to drop and rejoin fleet.

- How about if the tactical overlay did the missile velocity x flight time calculation and overlaid a theoretical optimal weapons range sphere like e.g. for turrets?

UI > Flying / Controlling Ship
* Allow to preset own list (even if max <= 10) of orbit/keep at range ranges.
* Allow to 'keep at range' on cans, stargates, wrecks, probably other things.

- Surely if I want to 'engage' (default: f) with mining drones I want it to 'mine repeatedly'. Currently no map exists to simply 'do the most obvious thing'.
- Can't 'assist' ec-300's to allies, or maybe the other types, if I ever used them.

- It's far, far too fiddly to click to overheat modules. Even a tag that sticks out over the module would be far better then trying to click 2 pixels over the ring. I'm sure with some thought better could be done.

- Isn't align and approach functionally the same? see Q/A fast hotkeys. If the target is off grid/warp range and I 'approach', that's aligning to it. If I align to an object 20k away, that's approaching it. In meatspace both operations are simply 'move closer to X on a direct line'. Free a key, duplicate their function, anything that actually makes sense.

UI > General
- Combat log; option turn off drone damage indicators. They do about or less than 10-20% of the damage output on most ships. I don't need to know if i'm not in a drone boat, and really don't want to. It drowns the data I want.

* Stop server downtime spam. I don't want to actually click, read or acknowledge this. I know about downtime. It's really just annoying, and I don't even live in a TZ where I'm having to click this 3 times is during my prime time. At least for standard downtime, make it stop, or hide it or if nothing else, just warn me once, via the 5m timer. And save the 'warn on standard downtime' thing with the other 'never bother me again' boxes.
* 'Interstellar News' - at various places in 0.0, I think cosmos constallations (for a specific example, see 9-VOOQ; in fountain (also see, how I can't tell you if either 'O' is 'zero' or 'letter o' because TQ font)). I don't need to know this stuff the fiftieth time I pass through the gate. Make them go away.

UI > Bugs
* The 'you are jammed (, target painted, etc)' indicator sometimes/always get stuck and repeats forever until dock/change system (possibly an artifact of it having to redraw when a second effect is on you, then leaving the first running forever. Testable with any npc's that jam, as well as players).

UI > POS
* Allow the order of the structures in the running processes tab to be specifically set, so that yourself and other people (other accounts) can see them in the same order, universally. So I can link (especially) silos in a sensible order /and they'll stay there/.
And nearly everything else with poses (geneva convention? 2 or 3?!?) but I appreciate this is being worked on already.

UI > Wishful Thinking
- It would be really useful if I could type, in numerical input boxes like '100m' and have it autocomplete to 100,000,000 (k,m,b, (t?)). Probably not a 'little thing'. For distances, allow (in say, the dscanner) '4au' or '900m' (assume km). When you move focus, or apply/scan/enter, try to autocomplete in some sensible way. This would be useful to nearly everyone.

Scaffolding >
- All those logfiles that get left around from chat channels, combat logs, you could clean up (zip, delete) with the eve client. Ask explorer to open the folder with them in sometime. It'll take minutes to even list them.

Also, the following is neither small or functionally making-things-easier changes but it's not stopping anyone else, so >
- explosions of subcaps are weak; especially for BS / BC sized ones. I know why they're like they are, rather than complex and spectacular multi-part breakups, with secondary explosions and stuff but they really are underwhelming compared to say, the 11 year old freespace 2. I hope this is one thing to be looked at for the next visual upgrade.
- how about have 'news' have more news. As in, way more. Farm the job out to people for isk. There could even be a different 'channel' per empire and one or two neutral (oho ho ho) ones.
- an off switch for the adverts/bounties in CQ. You're being exploited. Sit and watch it for a few minutes sometime.
- cut down high sec incursions being so easy/profitable. One every 2 weeks maybe, I mean really the empires are either winning, or not. They surely don't just sit still while an outside power /farms their citizens for use as drones/. Have some big finale like 20 simultaneous incursions, GM's camp jita stargates a few days and then cut them down. In 0.0/low - spool them up to balance, which would lure people out, if they want the money and which is supposedly where it's to be found.
- the empires don't really have an ingame persona, to be honest.
/* Off-topic end. */

Thanks.

  • Can't interact with modules you've turned off. You can't restart a module before it ends, nor can you right click in preparation to change ammo. Note you can already do the latter if your current target is lost/killed but you didn't directly turn the module off.
  • Rearrange Watch List. Having to delete and readd everyone to get one person at the top is silly.
  • Ranges aren't fit or ship specific. Warp to gate, orbit at 500 mete- uh, why am I 75 KM away? x.X
  • Can multi-select to form fleet with many, but not to invite many to an existing fleet. Fleet Advertisements help a lot, but not everyone you want is always eligible for adverts.
  • Directional Scanner Angles are ambiguous. Needs an on-screen indicator for how much you're actually scanning.
  • Camera can't follow ship heading. Makes for depressing manual orbit and consistent panic attacks when trying to find the thing you're best aligned to. Would work best with hotkeys for both toggle and hold styles.
  • No secondary overview sort. When in situations where both blues and reds are on overview, it would be nice to sort by icon to group by color then distance. Right now, you can only have one or the other.
  • No selection memory. Have you ever aligned to something, spammed warp, then had to click on something else and died horribly because you couldn't find the right object again? Fumbled all over the place trying to find the important guy you're supposed to kill but deselected? If you could save a handful of selections to hotkeys (5?), you probably would have been able to respond in time rather than fighting the mouse-driven interface.

EDIT: Also,

  • Only one notification is shown at a time. Important information gets thrown away too quickly. If ~3 could stack up simultaneously, maybe an adjustable option for more, that would make things a lot clearer.

EDIT again:

  • Focus locking popups. Seriously, there should absolutely never, ever be any window that makes it impossible to click on other things. Kill them all with fire.

Two other things.

One, (on the Mac client,) whenever I launch drones, the drone bay window disappears, sometimes for 5-10 seconds at a time. It would be nice if it didn't.

Two, it would be great if you could make warp speed matter. Like, none of this speed up and slow down crap. If you have to do it a little at the end, for some technical reasons, fine, but in general there is basically no point having different warp speeds for the majority of systems.

Or, make everything further apart by a certain factor (and reduce cap use for crossing that distance by the same factor so everything stays the same except the time.)

Or decrease warp speeds by some factor (but that would make slow things sooooo slooooo.) Or increase the speed even more (but I don't think that would really do anything.

Or do the first one Big smile

Way back when, I got into lasers because I hate carrying ammo. Everything was great, until I skilled up enough for T2 and figured out faction ammo. Now, we have these used crystals that expire (yes, I understand the need for isk sink) eventually. However, having 8 used crystals for each range group spread out in my cargo hold visually hogging the screen real estate. I would rather deal with crystal ammo that had single shot use but stacked neatly! On the bonus side, I'd actually have a way of knowing how many shots I actually had left, rather than some damaged crystals that will fail unknowingly.

So, in summary:

Current Laser crystals issues, T2 and Faction:
Oops Effectively has limited number of shots, but ammo running out will always be a surprise. This surprise fail is especially irritating with grouped guns which stop firing, while lacking a UI indicator that one of the grouped guns is empty.
OopsUsed crystals refuse to stack, and visually hog screen real estate. I understand they are damaged, but the amount of spcae they take up is outrageous.

Solution:
Idea Make laser crystals one-shot ammo, like every other ammo, directly in proportion to the number of shots one gets from current crystals. This gives a countdown of shots left, and lets the crystals stack in the cargo bay. Win, win!!

Fix the timers in Faction Warfare plexes to always show (currently they often don't show for various reasons, such as not having been in system when the timer was first started).

Fix invulnerable afk cloakies. There are many ways to do this, easiest would be a limit on how long you can keep cloak activated with an increased reactivation timer (at least several minutes) after you've had cloak running for more than 10minutes or somesuch.

Make it easier to toggle overheating modules (larger target area or different UI).

Add an overheat-click hotkey, such that you can hold down a button and click on a module, and it toggles its overheating.

Allow targeting as an action that breaks the temporary cloak you get after jumping through a gate (currently you must start your ship moving to decloak yourself before you can do anything else).

Add a midslot to the Retribution and Coercer, single mid slot ships are just BAD. Change something else if it is truly needful, but it probably isn't.

Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes.

Death2you for suggesting "fixing" afk cloaking, though. You do realize that AFK cloaking is THE ONLY way to get kills much of the time in a game such as this one that is structured so as to make all PvP essentially consensual? In such a game, the only way you can get a kill, technically speaking, is if the hostile pilot makes an error / bad judgement call. Ratting while there are "AFK" people in local is one of the few bad calls people can make.

1. Bookmark overwriting.

with the intoduction of Corp bookmarks i see problems where people might add a bookmark for the new Small astriod cluster. but not delete the old one. this isn't much of an issue when you're managing your own bookmarks but i see it being very painfull when multiple people are handeling one set of bookmarks.

Basicaly if you create a bookmark with a name thats already in use, (within the same group, i.e. corp or personal) a pop up tells you it already exists and alows you to overwrite or pick a diferent name.

2. character switching (posibly not as small as it seems)

the ability to log off your main and log on to an alt, without assentialy relaunching your whole eve client(which is basicaly what the log off button does)
