Are mining barge parts moving too fast?

As usual in ships everything looks pretty much the same size. You notice all the dots on a ship are actually windows and realize how huge it is.

Well I was mining, and looking at my retriever. I noticed it has pistons, and these containers underneath flying back and forth. I also decided to think, well those things must be huge. How and why are they moving that fast? It's as big as a house. Are they containers to move ore back and forth? There would be no time for anything to be put in them on one end at all, it would be like trying to shove cheerios in some guys mouth while he rode by on a bike.

Oh, I perfectly understand, Hal Morsh — a mission like this requires courage, skill, and heroism… qualities you are clearly lacking. Have you forgotten you're one of the bloody immortals!?

They move even if you have no ore. Thus, they are the equivalent of "red stripes" (putting red stripes on a vehicle makes it go faster.)

Ergo, adding pistons to your barge makes it mine faster.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

They also have gears if you look for them on the front side. But the description says something about a "fast loading system" so I figured the moving parts were related to that. Just that they move too quickly.

The hulk having fire out the sides is honestly a cool effect though, and makes plenty of sense.

In EVE there are many things that may not make sense or are not very believable. Don't fret though there is an easy solution. Because it's a game, and therefore meant for entertainment purposes, you simply push the "I BELIEVE" button and move on.

Barges have pistons because they're steam powered. Steam was chosen for barges simply because their pilots are known to be full of hot air.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

How much slower should the parts move and how much should the mining yield be nerfed to reflect to slower movement of the parts?

How do Titans, ships bigger than most cities, jump across dozens of lightyears of space in but a blink of an eye?

It's the future dude, anything is really possible.

Though if you want a real explanation, I'd imagine a combination of magnetic repulsion as well as the vacuum of space allows those containers to move back and forth with essentially zero drag and friction. Wouldn't be too hard assuming what is propelling them is strong enough.

I too wish for realism in a game where I am immortal & fly a huge spaceship through space which functions more like a submarine.

This is clearly an issue vital to the VERY SURVIVAL OF EVE.

Thank you for bringing it to the attention off CCP.

P.S You have my axe.

Actually, while they do remind me of steam engines, if I remember right, those big axle connected wheels on a steam engine are some kind of flywheel arrangement that helps moderate the power flow aren't they? I'm not super big on steam engines. But they could easily be some arrangement of that sort, that keep momentum going in a moderated fashion on some other part.

In a universe where we can build ships multiple kilometers long, why wouldn't we be able to build super sized pistons that move as rapidly as small ones?

OK, I give up. I can't muster the necessary give-a-fsk to troll this.
