These people don't only add very little to the content of discussions but serve to choke off discussion at its source by intimidating people into not posting. And before you start down the 'the only people that won't post because I'm deliberately creating a hostile environment are those with bad ideas' route, pause a minute and reflect on whether you think that is even remotely true.

Edit: It just struck me that some people really think that pointing out the difference between a place that people meet and the people that meet there is actually pedantry! Talking about 'the views of MD' is like talking about the views of 'the man on the street' - a useful shortcut to mean something very imprecise but one which collapses into hilarious confusion when you go down to the street yourself and start shouting generalised criticisms at all the 'men on the street' that pass you.

No, I'm saying that whilst speaking of 'the people of MD' in a general way can be a useful shortcut at times, taking particular views and attributing them in this broad way is beyond pointless. Especially when the posters allow that the generalisation is inapplicable insofar as they exempt themselves from it despite being readers of, and posters on, MD (Weaselior posts more on MD (221 posts) than in any other eve forum except GD). There seems to be no informative point at all to the generalisation; its only role, in the context of this discussion, is to create a phantom target to criticise for those who get their rocks off by being unpleasant.

Also, reading comprehension classes can be found at many good local educational establishments.
