News Story: EMPIRES-LED CAPSULEER ASSAULT ON PIRATES ENDS IN FAILURE

Failure was the point. The Empires have run up against the power of capsuleers setting the stage for Rubicon. Twisted

Nice my CCP overlords! Nice! *loves and hugs and kisses*

*shoots a shot glass of tears*

Nobody is complaining about the operating being a failure, nor losing ships, etc. Just the way it was run, with much confusion and such.

To give you an example, I am betting that nobody knew the name of this operation was "Operation Spectre" until that article was posted.

Story wise, the Empires don't trust the capsuleers so I can see information being withheld being legitimate. Outside of that, confusion and chaos is part of war, and it could have been planned to facilitate failure.

I didn't think anyone was complaining about failure of the mission or losing ships.

As this was an "in character" event, having GMs blab in local about what to do and not do would have been counter productive (tending to hinder rather than serve the "in character" purpose).

Nobody is denying that failure was in the cards. Think back to Luminaire for example. A DUST map with a wrecked Caldari titan leaked out beforehand. There was no saving that titan. A lot of people started to see live events as more of a rigged game because of that.

Rigged game?

This is debated. The smaller and unannounced live events of the past were not so rigged, but not so significant either.

For Operation Spectre, the whole point is "new pirate technology". Were it successful, that would mean new Rubicon features would be gone. Why go through the trouble of coding new stuff just to not use it later?

But in the lead-up to this event, I never saw any debate on that matter, and whether or not that could or should influence the decision to participate. Nobody cared and given what happened in Luminaire, if the kitchen sink fleets were a raging success complete with total destruction of the pirate labs, the article would have instead said "in spite of the success of Operation Spectre, the pirates managed to escape with their new technology".

So nobody is being as naïve as implied. The pre-planned live events that herald changes in the game or storyline are rigged. Everybody knew that.

The complaints are coming from spending 2 hours in TiDi and pointless confusion only to be fed to a gate camp. More fun could have been had gluing our sacks to the wall.

As a troll attempt, it's 0/10.
As a genuine post... 1/10?

They've got 6 days to write that article, whether it was rigged or not, do you think they wouldn't have found a way to make the lore stand? "unbeknowst to the empires, a third lab has managed to complete the research" if all went haywire.

Maybe I fail to see your point. If there is one, apart from linking the article, that is.

Don't troll attempts always end up 0/10? Smile

Or perhaps it was simply sarcasm because all of the complaining. Poor CCP... nothing but nag, nag, nag...

That might be a worthy form of protest to get the point across.

Yea, I saw that in the news! Poor guy. Made me shiver.

I wonder if someone in the US will nail their sack to one of the government buildings in protest. Someone did burn themselves on the DC mall not long ago, but the media hushed it up. I never heard about why he was protesting.
