The difference is, when we get our rear ends handed to us in an epic mix of command clusterfuck and self-incompetence, we pass on the tale as "I was there when it went down and I battled, with all the might of my balls, against lag and bad FCs." and move onward. ("I killed an Exequoror in 6VDT. In below-10% TIDI. UPHILL. FOR TWO HOURS! And not even a lousy t-shirt was gained.")

You people whine because CCP didn't hold your hand and you got yourselves welped. Well, I suppose it's understandable - in the economy of EVE, for consumers of tears there must be a vast population producing this commodity. The delivery from this event could fill a goddamn oil tanker though.

Ok, live the lore, harvest the tearz.
Wouldn't it have been more fun for you if there were more tearz though?

They couldn't even deliver an efficient awox. If (in character) you paid the navy commanders, you deserve a rebate!

Nasty carebear stuck in TiDi lagz cants campz him.. Sendz mor!!

Got to be honest most nullsqwark is more can I haz cheezburger than cool.

But I must admit you do it much much better and believably than most. You play at the RP character well rather than being unable to do Anything else.

You see the humour and fun in it.

I do but damn those threads deliver on too many levels to just run off.

And heck no, I stay where the cookies are. There's plenty of player-generated lore. Nullsec wars come to mind, everyone who's been through a few campaigns has a story to tell about at least one really bad and one truly awesome. With the empires being basically a lowsec "sov" ping-pong justified by centuries-old grudge match (it's not like any of the empires are starved for resources and need to take the others out for the sake of their continued existence...) the NPC nations just get dull.

Unlike the day-to-day exploits, treachery, backstabbing, frontstabbing and politics of players.

Where's the monument to commemorate the first titan built by ASCN? Where's the wreck of Shrike's Avatar, the first actively piloted titan destroyed in the history of New Eden? Something to commemorate TEST's "final" stand and charge during the siege of 6VDT? (the war was over by then. They showed up in the name of all that is fun.)

Many players won't care about an NPC because they're taught, through other MMOs and games in general, they can't be as awesome/affect the lore like NPCs do. What we need is a wreck field around the Mara stargate and a beacon that will tell someone the story of m0o. Show a player what another player can do in EVE.

**** why don't you just keep up on this level? Why the "more tears" pathetic ****?

That's what would make eve great. That's the real lore - more than bad excuses for an "event" that changed nothing, shown nothing, made no one a hero or villain, subtracted little from most players (except some exceptional less than smart) and added even less to either lore or history.
This will be remembered, laughing, as the time CCP ****** up the hiseccers. Out of character. Who would even think of a monument for this?

It could've been remembered like the time the Empires came to the alliances and got pushed back. It *could* have - and that might've been worth a monument, like 6VDT and Shrike and The Heist and so on.
Such a shame.

Because tears are an important element of our culture. "Getting" them out of someone prompts the need to "link them" and share with the rest of community. Tears are a common reaction to loss and to being hurt. Their appearance is often associated with dealing a morale blow to your enemy, and causing them to flow can be a measure of proficiency. Memorable tears can also add to the experience of events.

Tears have a social aspect too. For instance, this event will forever be remembered as the one time we fought in a battle that spawned a fifty-page tears thread. There's no coming back from that - whether it was CCPs fault, our fleets or combinations of both people were mad at - tears were had, we enjoyed them.

So off the subject of tears and on to the lore...

Thing with "events" like this is that it actually strangely reflects reality. Rushing to play catch-up with your fleet in 10% TiDi happens, incompetent fleet commanders happen - and mistakes of competent ones do too. Very often a null grunt does fly blind and isn't aware of his destination. Hell, at least people in 8V- knew what they were shooting - with 0.0 you may never actually know if that tower you lost your ship reinforcing was a valuable R64 or some scrubmoon you hit just to deny income.

Sometimes you burn everything not blue to the ground and wave your alliance flag, then maybe swing your **** a little while screaming "HEY LOOK WE'RE AWESOME WE HAS SOV!". Sometimes you watch your reinforcing fleet enter warp, a cyno go up and a bunch of RnK battleships bridge in, smartbombs on, obliterating your lovely friends in seconds.

A few times TiDi will allow you to catch up to your engagement zone and participate in the battle. Other times, your staging system will be put in 10% and your allies will lose a Titan before you can bridge to save it.

The event had organizational problems and someone put it wisely in another post - deserved a buildup where there wasn't one (or maybe there was, and I just didn't pay attention.) but some posts and calls to unsub over essentially a CCP-induced fleetwelp are just way overkill so I'm mostly biased towards "HTFU, bad things happen in space every day."

**** just happens so I do actually believe that the incompetence of actor FC's was fully intentional. Was it astonishingly great event that got us all to attend like say, Burn Jita? No. Was it superbad? No. It was pretty normal day of fleet ops, with the twist of "hey, let's punch CONCORD in the spacehorse and have a blast. We'll probably die, but you'll be able to say 'I was there' so you can bring a snowflake ship."

(Cue a Machariel flying with Zealot fleet. And despite the pilot's repeated attempts to get it killed, it lived to welp another day.)

I wish CCP had put as much thought into this as you have,
Most people came expecting that there was a good chance of losing their ship and their pod.
We can all accept that sh¥t happens. Anyone can screw up that's accepted and can be forgiven.
There are some things that are difficult to forgive. There are possible concerns there. They are more than detailed elsewhere.
Silence in a crisis is generally the worst possible thing that can occur, It leads to distrust, and the vacuum is filled, my god has it been filledShocked , and that can be destructive.
Even sadder is no matter how we try to make it fit, children put more imagination into their role playing, with limited or no tools other than a stick and a rock. CCP have a sophisticated infrastructure and talented people and did not do as well.
Of course we are disappointed.
This can be solved very simply.
But until it is faced by CCP it will continue to grow.

Basically to defuse this issue.

Speak
Take responsibility
Root cause analysis
Rectify
Repair relationship.

Pretty standard crisis management. Taught to trainees in the first few days.

I think the most people can expect from CCP is "we'll try to do better next time" along with a devblog detailing "what went wrong in their mind."

In their core, they're pretty much a lot of our adorable, benevolent ruthless vikings. Them being good to you isn't them bringing gifts, it's them not smacking you with an axe or stabbing with a large, pointy stick.

I believe there were tears after Caldari Prime too, that the event was rigged and people didn't get to play a major role (also system cap prevented some from participating). One thing they could go for is smaller events, but those don't generate as much publicity and are rarely those "I was there" moments.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Absolutely not, rolling back will never happen. You make choices, you live with those choices no matter if they turned out bad or not. If you lose time, isk, and ships because of an event live with it. There were no server side issues such as crashing.

Dude, please don't go making a new topic like the other boatload you did already. Retain some dignity and HTFU. **** goes bang in eve, big whoop.

No rollback. They don't give out free condoms like candy. You have to 'buy' your own common sense in essence. YOU made the choice to jump through the gate NOT CCP. They have no obligation to rollback for you.

If they don't do it for those who lose billions in assets due to their own incompetence, They aren't going to do it for you. No matter how much of a "Mummys special prince" or the "bleating white knight" you want to be.

You are the definition of "free bar" right now in terms of tears. Please, Continue and put my comment down, like everybody elses that has been shat on by you in every thread of every topic relating to the live event.

The more topics you open on the subject of the said live event, the less anybody will listen to you. This is just short of a mental disorder from what it APPEARS to be.

And no, i'm not, nor never will, mock any form of mental illness before you try to shoot me down for that...

Retain dignity, Man up, and wait for CCP's full response. Remember that this is an internet spaceship game. Yes, i said it, Game! Calm Down

Whereas the complaints that the event had no content are legitimate (even a Dev flown empire Titan that did not participate in combat would have at least been something to look at and talk about) asking for reimbursement for ship loss is rather unreasonable.

Complain that there was no event as such if you want ... but reimbursement for ship loss ... no .. just no.

May I point everyone to this simple statement in the OP's first:

Quote:
For clarities sake, My personal view of the event was never-ending TIDI no communication and no fun. I lost nothing but hours of my life even though i was prepared to if it was interesting.

It is clear that the OP has no rage or tears to speak about, and that some of the ragers here didn't read or understand.

That said, I did not participate in the event (was safely away) but from what I read, I think that if the "empire fleet" was titan bridged or wormhole'd into destination instead of having to do 40 jumps in heavy TiDi, the final outcome would have been the same - they'd all be slaughtered due to null blocs having more organized and powerful fleets and pvp vet pilots - but it would have been immensely more fun for everyone.
Empire fleet would have been able to put up a fight, albeit a losing one, and maybe some or many of them would have said "Hey! I like this fleet warfare thing, how can I have more of it?" and null fleet would have engaged a fleet that at least would have fired back.

This change alone would have changed this never ending pile of butthurt and shallow gratification into a successful and engaging way to show empire bears what fleet warfare is like.
Or, as a way of testing the null bloc ability to scramble a gate defense (opposed to having a couple hours to set it up), just bridge the empire fleet in a system 1-2 jumps away from the known target.

These are just ideas.

Need more well-formatted linking.

Implying that it would be possible for you lot to cry harder than you already are.

I've never seen such a pathetic bunch of mewling infants in my life. How have you managed to remain so genuinely butthurt about this over a week later?

That's not rhetorical. I'm asking you, personally, to explain your complete inability to put this inconsequential event into a sane perspective and then move on with your life.

Yes, that's perfectly clear. The OP has been not-raging about this, incessantly, for a week and a half now. Roll

Also, nobody is upset about losing their ships, which is why the server should be rolled back to before they lost their ships.

That is definitely one of those posts that you go to dismiss as a troll, then you go hang on, wait a minute could he really not understand?
Ok i'll have a go.

I apologise if I first thought you a troll, but people try to goad people into an angry response just for fun, I know it sound silly and hard to believe but it is true.

Firstly days ago on this thread better options to rolling back to a backup were pointed out which I agreed with and we moved on.

In the very first post, It was explained that I lost nothing but time and explained the reasons I was concerned.

You may not believe me but there are thousands of posts in the sister threads that can explain the issue clearly to you. I hope it helps you and if you take the time to read the whole OP it will save you from getting upset needlessly.I know it is a lot of reading but there is a lot of good information if you ignore the "trolls" spamming the threads seeking attention and trying to get people upset.

I know forums can be hard, as lots of people have opinions that sometimes you might not agree with.
When you post try not to let People get you upset there is room for your opinion too, and if you have something useful to bring, like a good idea, hopefully people will listen to you.

A good idea would be to stop pretending like CCP stole your identity, kicked your dog, slept with your sister, drank the last of your beer, and then DUI'd your car off of a bridge.

The mere fact that you ever thought that, hey, perhaps everything in the ******* game should be rolled back to compensate for the fact that an event went mildly off the rails makes it painfully apparent that you're pretty much the lord of the entitlement bears.
