hi guys! I had a similar problem, and I eventually figured out it was caused by using the Mumble overlay. To fix it I checked the box in the settings panel for display and graphics that says use multithreaded opengl and that fixed it. Also, not using the mumble overlay also fixed it. I hope this helps some people!

Justin - how did you set the openGL threading option? When I launch, it goes black screen before I can select anything. Then the whole computer locks up. Is there a back door to set those options?

Thanks!

Same issue with the black screen here. I put in a bug report and a ticket two days ago and no response. In fact, I can't even see my tickets under "my tickets", so I guess they are swamped? If you look at the Feb. 4th patch notes it indicates an NVIDIA "fix" in that patch release. My error logs indicate an issue with my graphics and I would guess that most of us with this black-screen issue are running on NVIDIA graphics.

MacBook Pro
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Software OS X 10.9.1 (13B42)

Wish I could get some acknowledgement that the issue is being worked on. Ugh

The predominant error that pops up in the log during the black-screen-fun-time is:

2/5/14 8:16:28.000 PM kernel[0]: NVDA(OpenGL): Channel exception! exception type = 0xd = GR: SW Notify Error

Except on 1 of 3 accounts since the patch on Tuesday I m black screened at char selection. One account seems to be ok for some reason.
If I select the place where char should be it goes into game, Copies on mumble comms see me in local or corp chat but I have either a crazy pixilated and frozen screen or a black screen.
Have run the Disk Utility to verify and repair permissions to no avail.

Same issue here...blackscreen on logon, can still use the cursor to select characters but subsequent screens are derez/pixelated well beyond any chance of playability. The one time in ten it loads to a playable game, the game plays just fine.

Graphics settings are at the lowest possible options. I realize the 9400M is below minspec, but fact is the game was working with perfectly with zero issues prior to the 4FEB patch...which was unfortunately two days after I purchased the game off Steam. I was completely unaware of the B-R event, purchasing the game when I saw it on sale on Steam...but it's no secret (Kotaku) that subs picked up a TON of momentum in the aftermath. It'd be a real shame to see all that momentum come to a screeching halt over silly technical issues.

By the way. Is anyone having this issue with a mac mini which iirc has a completely different graphics card?
