Wading into a can of worms I'm sure, but here goes.

We ARE looking at this and considering what we can do. The back end system used by the client has changed which makes a "turn off" not a real proposition. We are looking at ways to reduce the nausea reaction some players are experiencing through other means.

It would be helpful if we got feedback about what in particular during the jump sequence is causing the most difficulty

I am sorry for those adversely affected,.

Being hauled up to the gate and shot through it like a canon is the part that would get in my nerves after a while. The portal tunnel aspect isn't that hard to deal with. It's not much different than warping but having the screen yanked like that is jarring.

I go in to planetary screen or system map for multiple jumps. It's a cool effect but if I'm doing it 30 or 40 times, it's... less cool.

I've been using F10 to the same effect when I'm not browsing webpages (almost) fullscreen. In my case it becomes annoying after 5 or 6 jumps.

I think that there is no real urgent need for a "Off" button at the moment. Players with issues are finding and sharing ways to hide/block the main screen and not see it. Cool

Of course, what good can be said about a graphic effect that invites to not see it?

The instantaneous massive increase in rotation speed when the camera changes to align with the gate. The sudden change of point of view is what makes me feel sick. I barely can play the game, in fact I am almost not playing anymore.

Simply there is no way so that you can keep that animation and make it not make people feel nauseated, unless you slow it down a LOT an make jumping take a lot more time.

A hint for your powers that are, STOP with wars on things that hurt no one! This type of change is SAME old stupidity as forced captain quarters. It improves the gameplay in NOTHING! Therefore you should have built it with a turn off switch! I build software for over 15 years and never saw a company more stubborn about forgetting the on /off switch on non essential features!

Anything that is too fancy, flashy and has no FUNCTIONAL purpose should be an OPTION on ANY SOFTWARE!! Even windows Aero had to do the same.

For me, the jarring spin the camera does on both ends of the jump is really awful.

Visually its disorienting and not a nice thing to have to look at.

But it also feels like the game itself is 'grabbing' control of my ship and then dumping it back to me. Kind of immersion breaking really.

Traveling around Eve for fun... is no longer fun.

Which is kind of ironic, I suppose.

after watching this new jumping for some time, it really makes you sick, now i am trying to avoid it badly with alt tabbing but still, come on CCP just gives us option for blank screen for the time of duration of jump or something

Use F10 map view and problem solved.

Aaah good, an expert.

Please, tell us all how to simply and efficiently put an off switch on a hard coded effect tied to a major game mechanic. Do you just need to mock up a check box? Smile

Isn't technology wonderful....

Personally I think that if they slowed down the camera swing speed a lot of the issues people have would go away. I suppose they could also consider slowing down the speed at which the Jump Tunnel rushes past you as well.

I rather like the fact that if you are on autopilot (and have at some point selected the outgoing gate to focus your camera on), when you get to the next system your camera view smoothly rotates in the direction of the next gate you will be warping to... which is what everybody does anyway. Smile

F10 seems to be a simple and efficient off switch of a hard coded effect tied to a major game mechanic.

Make it happen automatically on jump and also don't display anything in "map-mode", then we're happy. How hard can it be ?

The problem is not with the jump, its the approach. It is like when CCP forced pilots to use
Captain Quarters by removing the hangar view, took a lot of protests to get it back.
The lesson is to have cosmetic features as an option, for as much as i care i could play eve
in text mode with squares, all its dark, i played it zoomed out and optimized for performance.

This way people could have pink space with flower stars, or whatever they like as an option.

I have already done the + 1 for a turnoff. If I try to open anything, (like the star map) during the jump animation, EVE now crashes for me. Three times this week... Evil

I have been making all my jumps in starmap mode. I find the jump animation annoying and the fact that I can not turn it off even more annoying. X

Make that four crashes with this edit, I just crashed again trying to open a tab to look at my transactions while I was jumping in starmap mode.

Change is the only constant. I will even adapt to blatant absurdity. You know who you are.

I liked the new animation, I liked it even more when I found out people were getting sick.

By the way, since we're already talking, do you want to buy a rifter? I've got the cheapest rifters in Metropolis. If you can find a cheaper rifter, buy it!

The new animation kicks arse. It would be cool if we could get a decent undock animation now - instead of just waiting and then - blink - we're outside.

I think we should have to walk into our hangars, strap on our seatbelts, start the engines, do a 100 point check of all systems, and follow a "mini game" of flying our spaceship out of the dock without hitting anything. If you hit something, you have to pay to repair it and wait 15 minutes in the penalty box.

And if you can't do this with 100 accounts via isboxer, well then I'm sorry...

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

The new jump animation is awesome, and you will like it. That's an order.

I want this to happen, as well.
I will build myself a gods-damned simulated pod cockpit, if this happens. My girlfriend can yell at me all she wants, while I'm making it... I will still friggin do it, or she gets no sex.

More I've used it the more i like it. For new players coming into the game i think they would like the new animation as well. Not everyone is using stone age old computers.
