See this is what happens when you try to fix things that were not broken in the first place. Seems like all this happened once Logging in went to the Launcher VS the Client.


They took all their servers offline because of a DDoS attack. DDoS attacks are made against web/IP addresses. The same addresses that are used for the game servers are also used for the web servers and everything else that CCP has online in regards to EVE and DUST. Taking all the servers offline was the right and correct thing to do, it's fairly common protocol for any network sustaining a DDoS attack. If you don't give them something to shoot at, they can't hit anything.

EVE used Twitter and Facebook instead to update customers, being that these servers are not CCP and were not sustaining a DDoS attack, this also made sense.

This was a universal experience. There will be hundreds of those topics. Probably should relax the rules for a day and let people post-disaster vent/complain/beg/compliment as needed.

I do agree thought that it would be best not to deploy odyssey tomorrow but delay it a week.Just so that people who have not been able to log in have some more time to do so.Otherwise the ''WHEEEELP i lost a few SP , damn you CCP'' cries will only become bigger.

nope, too many skill queues will run out, too many POS will run out of fuel, too many people on strict deadlines for training certain skills before tiericide will lose out.


Maybe all of the above but they have had nearly 24 hours of downtime, plenty to install new patch

Technically it's CCP's fault as they should have a perfect defense against any kind of attack. My job is done as I payed for my accounts.

But because I am a reasonable guy ( we all should be ), I don't blame them at all but a compensation is not absurd in these circumstances.

Dude, seriously are you high? Where did you get those informations? You are totally. totally wrong... Because Annonymous attacked SOE's servers for legit reasons, their servers were off close to 2 months, SOE'S company lost over 200 milions in that time because of this and here are some facts why they did so:

A lot of people have been suggesting that it "would have been nice" if they went ahead and did the June 4th update during the down time.

I think it would be great if they did, but I am wondering how do you know that it hasn't been done? How do you know that the update hasn't been made?

I hope since the servers have been down all this time you dont even attempt to do a regular scheduled DT. Free stuff would be nice too lots of it, and anyone that wants to donate all there stuff since they realized theres a real world out there send it my way.

One thing I've learned from bitter experience is that you don't drop a major patch on top of a system diagnostic. They're probably going to hold Odyssey back for a day or so to make sure eveything's stable.
