That is some PR censored garbage if I ever read any. Tell me, just what exactly are the priorities for Eve, or do they not tell you that? Even if the launcher worked, all it is is a billboard to advertise to people WHO ALREADY GIVE YOU MONEY, any claims of added functionality is a thinly veiled lie. The only reason you would make a launcher like this is if you're already planning to try to roll out microtransactions yet again and pay to win as per the Dust model.

You say you as a company have changing priorities, and it is apparent that the priority has shifted away from making the best space sandbox imaginable, to making a fuckton of money off of 12 year old newfags, to put it candidly.

Edit: Want more evidence? Look at some of the recent UI changes that didn't need to happen. They changed the names of missles and prop mods for no reason, they've rolled out major skill overhauls several times and are about to again, they're making it easier to make babysitting cap alts, and they keep making pvp more cookiecutter by being EFT warriors, they even tried taking away ship spinning, and when that didn't work they changed the hangar. Now they're making the game itself work more like every other game, and introducing a console shooter (a market dominated by minors and people generally deemed undesirable to the Eve community).

We as Eve players have always prided ourselves on some level for being ahead and above the rest of the gaming community in intellect, competence, and maturity; these changes only detract from that, making Eve easier by giving it the nerf treatment under the guise of 'accessibility to new players'.

All of that would even be fine if for the fact that it didn't detract from Eve's bread and butter, being internet spaceships, which it clearly has. The past few expansions and patches have had little to no new content, and were merely filled with recycled and regurgitated content, thus making it obvious that overhead is being shifted away from Eve development.

Given all of this evidence, the only conclusions one can draw is that CCP no longer cares about Eve as much as they should, if at all (at best), or that they're about to scrap the subscription model and go all out with the selling of pay to win and bunny hats in a free game (at worst, and vastly more profitable in the short term).

I can see why you wanted to switch to this format. You have a lot of information on the launcher, which isn't getting used. While I like the old login screen, this one does make sense to getting information to people in an easier format.

Three suggestions though to make it a bit more pleasing.

  1. Can you allow the ability for us to select what character on the account we want to log in? I'm sure this is something suggested already but it would be nice to do regardless. Other games I've played would save the character name with the account name after you logged in the first time. Besides biomassing my pilots, there really is no point in that screen is there?
  2. Can you put the login art on the launcher? I'm sure the artist that made the new velator is happy but the new screen seems a bit busy. I know you have art for Odyssey. Why not show that?
  3. The location of the login text is a bit out of place to me. Perhaps not to others but shouldn't it be at the bottom center or perhaps right side? The location seems weird to me.

Anywho, works fine now after the patch. Thanks!

I'll keep it simple. New launcher is a piece of ****.

Perks to the old launcher included being able to turn the goddamned thing off when I'm not patching and it only taking afew seconds to authenticate.

The current launcher possesses neither of these features. I'm waiting more than a minute for it to finish authenticating and then I have to choose to play the account I just ******* logged into?

This is not an upgrade, it's just a piece of ****. I don't mind getting new features, but I don't like getting a new, more annoying spin on an old feature.

What doesn't is, there is no longer a Log Off option. Now, to bring another alt online, of the same account, you have to drop the client completely. Total Fail.

Are you surprised that these people are really incompetent?

I really don't care for the new launcher. It is way too 'busy'. The design makes it feel like logging in to the game is some sort of afterthought or secondary objective. Not a good sign at all.

Bug report submitted with log file attached. At least I can get it by bypassing the launcher and running the evefile.exe directly.

You realize when you hit the log off button it completely closes the client and just launches a new one, right?

The new launcher always stays open, so you're always at a login screen.

As for "I lost my settings"....try logging out, logging back in. I had the same thing happen but all my settings came back when I logged in again.

Troll rating 2/10.

My simple expectations:

1) Patches should be announced so that we can prepare our skill queues, etc.

2) Patches -- no matter what they do -- should be tested well enough to not create wide-spread service disruption.

3) Patches should not require EVE subscribers to have to either dig into program directories and manually launch an executable or the acquisition of assets by a 3rd party developer just to create a workaround to the problem at-hand.

Do you find these expectations unreasonable?

lets show them how we really feel, at 02:00 game time, approx. 20 min from now file a petition. have your friends and buddies/alt (if you can get them logged in) and get it done.

Anyone else having issues with the validating client step taking an absurdly long time compared to the previous launcher? I do have an older machine, but it's now taking approximately 10x longer for my client to validate.

Yeah, as far as people having aneurysms about the new launcher, it's not all that bad - the only problem is the increased wait time on starting multiple clients (I guess I'll also lament the death of the login screen graphics, but they're not exactly crucial).

Also to the dumpsterbabby saying that people should flood petitions, you should probably think about what you're telling people to do before you go running your mouth. Dumping this on the plate of customer support is ridiculous.
