I use multiple copies of the client via a file system fork.

On the old launcher, each fork kept a separate account history, so each desktop shortcut would default to a specific user account. The new one lists the same account at all times.

The very strange part is each fork still opens on its assigned monitor correctly. So it is aware of the forks. This is very strange behavior.

Interesting... Am I the only one who posts here NOT having an issue? The first time you log in, fully start client. If the launcher closed, open and start new session. Type in second acct info, log on, rinse , repeat. You should only have to do that once. I have 5 accts setup and is working fine. You may have to reset what acct goes to what screen via esc menu again. This has been working since day one.

I fly by the seat of my pants, No wonder my ass is always on fire!

TL:DR - Non-constructive criticism.

This new launcher is pure horror! What on Earth made you remove the login screen?? Come on CCP, you can do better than that, even when you have the DERP period on (as it seems).

I feel disgusted. Something in the way I get taken to the character screen makes me want to wash myself. I'm very disappointed. Sad

You do realize that your entire post is "non-constructive criticism", yeah?

0/10. Try harder next time.

It is non-constructive criticism and I have said so. Try reading harder next time. 0/10.

Nope. I just tried it with 4 accounts. Had to wait 15 damn stupid ass seconds between each client launch. Eminently asinine design is still in effect.

Edit: Please explain how you logged in once and launched multiple accounts. Or did I misunderstand what you said?

One account launched; clicked on Launcher, "Switch user account" clicked, pulled down second account from list. Entered password. Clicked Login, then Play. Second client opened to character selection screen. That took 5 seconds. Not sure where you got 15 seconds from, but whatever. 15 seconds between client launches? Can't really blame the Launcher for slow machines, hard drives, or network connections, but OK.

I think people are just complaining now to carry on the threadnaught.

Hey guys,

Forgive me if I missed something, but my launcher is still running in offline mode.

Troubleshooting:

  • - Ran EVEfile.exe (from the bin folder) which prompted me for an update at the login screen that I accepted and downloaded w/o issue.

  • - Ran repairer.exe which supposedly completed and repaired the build successfully.

Again, please forgive me if I missed the solution somewhere within this massive thread... It's just that I'm actually at work and would love to play EVE on my lunch break! Big smile

Thanks in advance,

run repair.exe and then start from the exefile, not the launcher.

Ran the repairer and then eve.exe. Build downloaded something that completed too quickly for me to see what it was and then opened the Launcher in offline mode again -_-

I then ran the repairer followed by the EVEFile.exe and was able to login without issue, although the launcher is still being bypassed completely.

Thanks for your help!

Quick update:

I noticed that if you have the "Close the Eve Launcher" checkbox selected in the Launcher it will not remember the credentials you logged in with if it wasn't already saved. Clear that checkbox, re-launch the Launcher, and try a different, unsaved account name. It should save it at that point.
That'll be it then. Thanks.

Super extra constructive usability suggestion with screenshots!

With reference to this anticipation:

Considering the passwords will be stored in the cloud, the following IS possible to do and will provide easy transition from the current log in scheme to the future "master account" implementation.

Phase 1: current mechanic.

One easy to use check box list with the account names. The choices are only done once, then they are saved so the users will always presented with the saved checkboxes selection already made.

One button to start all the selected accounts (and thus clients).

Screenshot

Phase 2: master account / single sign on.

It's an extension of the above.

Now when you check an account name, it automatically expands and shows the 3 characters in that account. The user chooses which character to play with a simple checkbox.

One button to start all the selected characters, no hassle, no need to select characters in game any more => usability.

This hierarchical selection is more difficult to code, but you can implement it well past Odyssey.

How are you getting around waiting on the "Launching..." thing between each client launch? The client is fully loaded in the background behind the launcher and it still makes me wait 15 seconds before "Launching..." turns back into "Play" so that I can click on it again.

Edit: Just to be clear, I'm not waiting on the client. I'm waiting on the "Launching..." button to turn back into "Play" so that I can launch the next client. If you are only waiting a couple of seconds I want to know how.

Constructive Feedback? Ok here-

1) In honour of your new Single Sign On protocol, I suggest you change your name from CCP to SSO
-Oh, that means Sony's Sockpuppets Online

2) Since you don't listen to anyone anyway, I suggest you form your own city in Iceland so you don't have to follow any Reykjavik policies or pay them taxes.
- Might I suggest you name it Borkjavik in honour of your stellar patch history?

3) The New Sony Sockpuppets Online corp based in Borkjavik, Iceland should adopt this as it's corporate Logo:
- New Corporate Logo

There. Three constructive ideas and only 2 criticisms. Does that count as constructive ffedback?

Butfungus does not laugh much, but I still laughing at Borkjavik, Iceland. Buttfungus thinks CCP already live there.

After today's patch I'm completely unable to play. I start the game with the exe file, it downloads the patch and exits out as normal, the patch installs and then tries to open the new launcher. As the new launcher can't work out that i'm connected to the internet the patch doesn't complete.

So now when i try to open eve using the exe file I'm stuck in a loop of "An update has been downloaded EVE will now close and apply the patch" with it being unable to complete because your new launcher doesn't work.

use the new launcher pile of sh1te once and that should allow you to use the exe file subsequently without this loop effect retardness. that worked for me

Updated and still doesn't work. Unified login my ass. still have to sign in to the accounts part separately.
4 minutes to verify the program? come on, do it right. Do you have chimps in the coding dpt randomly smashing buttons.
Hate to see how you mess up the once rising numbers wich are now falling again with the next major update.

No delay between Login and Play buttons; From the time I click Play (the button graphic then displays "Launching" and the new client opens (Eve "Logging in" screen) is about 3 seconds for me (first client already running)... the client EXE actually painting the screen at this point before the character selection screen appears.

Edit: Ah, I see what you're asking. I was watching time for actual client launch. It took about 7 seconds for my "Launching" button on the Launcher to change back to "Play", if that's what you're asking. It appears that the Play button isn't selectable until the new client is done instantiating (happens for me right before the character selector screen is painted).

CCP PLEASE I REPEAT PLEASE FOLLOW THIS RULE: IF SOMETHING IS WORKING FINE, DON'T ******* TOUCH IT!!

YOU'R NEW LAUNCHER IS PIECE OF ****!

IT DELETES WHOLE USER DATA & SETTINGS.

WHAT KIND OF PROGRAMMERS DO YOU HAVE THERE FOR **** SAKE?

TEST IT BE4 LAUNCH IT OR GTFO!

I'm protection relay programmer myself who is working for very big Swiss corporation and I tell you this is not acceptable.
We test every program for days before we download it into relay, why? because those relays protects hardware worth millions of Euros in power plants, factories or nuclear plants.

If I would work like your programmers I would end my carieer in jail long time ago!

All my posts are made shortly after Marihuana consumption.

For me it is exactly 15 seconds each time (I've timed it) even when the client is fully loaded in the background waiting for me to click a character. If I try to preempt it by clicking the "switch user account" button early it will let me log in with the next account but I still have to wait for "Launching..." to turn back into "Play" FROM THE PREVIOUS LOG IN WTF!!!

In other words what used to take me mere seconds (log in 4 accounts) now takes what feels like forever (around a minute). If that doesn't sound like a long time, try sitting and staring at your screen doing nothing for a full minute. Then multiply that by however many times you switch accounts per day.

So far today I've watched the "Launching..." show for about 10 minutes total and I can tell you it lacks a plot and the characters aren't very interesting. The fact that I am forced to watch it doesn't help any either.

Ever flown a Charon from one side of Barkrik to the other? P I've LITERALLY gotten up, started a new pot of coffee in the coffee maker, and come back before hitting the other side of the system!! Lol

Edit: and your comments are fair, I have to say. I USUALLY only have a max of three toons up at a time, so I honestly don't pay that much attention to the launch time issues many are noting with the new launcher. Point taken. :)
