Dear CCP,

you may claim to have fixed this issue but in fact it is not fixed for all users. Probebly only those running widows can use your client, but those running linux sure a shell can nnot run the game trough the launcher becouse the login part of the launcher simply does not show and stays blank.

It would be nice to know what resources you are using now, that you have not used before (like specialised fonts) so we can install these to get the game working we pay you so dearly for.

Telling linux users to use windows will get lots of laughter, but yeah.....

I run windows and launcher simply does not work. The only time I got ingame today I had to restart my pc over and over and finally it worked (once and only once). I got logged out and now it is impossibl e to login.

No, you didn't. Just launch directly from exefile.exe.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Ok, at first I was all arghhhhhhh about lost settings. But this has happened before (and will probably happen again). So I did what worked previous times. That is log off, close launcher, reopen launcher, wait for game to reload data again, log on again, and for whatever reason there are all my settings and overview etc back again.

CCP you should put a big message on the launcher telling us not to panic and rage, but to do the above and see if our settings reappear. It would save you and us a lot of moaning and gnashing of teeth.

Still not sure why you want this new launcher. It seems slower than the old one. But as long as a patch like this doesn't permanently delete my settings, boot.ini, or fry my video card all is forgiven.

CCP, there are off buttons for ship explosions, missile effects, turret effects, etc. "Immersion" does not seem to be harmed by those. So, please give us a persisting off button for the jump gate and autoscan visuals.

Let's see...

It's more work to log in multiple accounts. Maybe I will get faster at it over time?

I've lost all my chat channels. Didn't think to have them written down.

I've lost all my IGB bookmarks. Didn't have those saved either.

I lost my Marketplace quickbar saved searches.

I'm afraid to log in any more accounts. Better to leave them and hope this gets fixed before I run out of training queue on them.

I feel like the new launcher was designed by someone who had one account.

Sucks, but still signed.

Although, if I got my car back from the shop, claiming they fixed the starter and I'd simply had to crawl under the engine to flip a switch to mostly make it work - be sure I would tell them. Because that's how CCP fixed the launcher.

And in almost every single case people multi box for one reason: to be able to have individual setups for their settings, or to hasten the login flow.

I certainly hope that "login flow" is something that is still being planned for a (near) future release, because the current system is decidedly ponderous.

For the old system launching my 3 clients was entirely painless.
*click quick launch shortcut
* type in password
*press enter
**repeat 2 more times as quickly as I can press keys

Now with the SSO it's
*launch the launcher
*give focus to the password box
*type password
*press enter
*wait for (quick) pageload
*click play
*click switch user
*wait for pageload
*select new login
**repeat 2 more times in serial, waiting for each pageload

Is it just me, or has the launcher not changed...? Mac user and I see no difference whatsoever!

Enjoy it while you canTwisted

However, since our goal is to allow alternative authentication methods, and those are designed to be implemented via web-services, at some point in the future the in-client login methods will be removed. There's no ETA for this at this time, but I am aware of the effect this would have on the EVE Linux community.

The original difference was that it didn't work all morning long and we couldn't log in....

Then they "fixed it" back to the old terribad mac launcher.

For what it's worth...

Tried updating last night...fails all over. I read the forum and tried some of the fixes posted in a couple of them but none worked. Felt the rage from many people and in some cases it seemed to be justified but others were decidedly whiny. I realized quickly that there was not much I could do, so shut it all down and, like a bad hangover, slept on it.

This morning, tried again and everything went smoothly (if you consider molassas smooth), at least from process perspective. Restarted the new launcher to recover the settings and everything was fine.

Despite my success, I very disappointed in this poor release. Something went seriously wrong in the preparation for this debacle and the result is a painfully slow launcher on my one account. While it might be necessary behind the scenes, the one part I care about is the one I see, and this is not an improvement.

Nice try, but not good enough this time, I think.

Seems to be a bit of a limitation with the new launcher.. It only remembers a limited number of accounts (5 seems to be the limit). It doesn't matter how many times I login my other chars they are not remembered.. This new launcher seems to be somewhat of a step backwards. . I don't know many people a single account, which the new launcher would be great for. Most have multiple accounts and this launcher just makes logging in and switching accounts very tedious .

NB; Also just found by accident, I can log the same char in twice. I currently have 2 instances of the same character open.. I am closing the 2nd now as I don't know how this could mess other things up.

Unfortunatly this does not work for everyone , i tried about 5 mentioned tricks and none worked.Guess i'll spend the night resetting all my stuff on 4 accounts instead of pewpewing Cry

* It's slow (seriously, you can see it render the background image on my fancy laptop)
* It's annoying (multiboxing 3 chars means you have 6 windows open during launching, why not close the launcher the moment you click launch?)
* It fubar'd my settings (though bypassing it by launching ExeFile takes care of that)
* It's got a boatload of stuff I don't need (WTF would I want a YouTube client in my launcher for? That's just wasted time for me)

Launching ExeFile directly takes care of most of that, so as long as that works I'm good. But I really don't see how this could be an improvement, it really isn't, at least not for me.
