If it's votes you need to see how many people are interested, might not be a bad idea to make people aware this thread exists in the first place.

Put a news article on the new launcher or something, lots of people will notice it and you can bet this thread takes off.

People who don't care simply won't vote, there are hardly negative responses because it's optional anyway.

Probably not, but it will probably come out later this year as the artists refine and prepare the texture packs for us.

I may be wrong, but I don't think they would have much refining to do. They have the textures made, but when we download the client we get a compressed version. If they released the original versions as an optional download I think it would be available in short order.

I'm fairly certain there used to be the option of downloading a "high-res" client or a "low-res" client...
