This lottery based system that rewards the lucky few with a "limited time" one-time offer reward in a form of title is extremely unfair.

Please find a way to reward those who waited on the other side of the gate for hours as well.

Lottery based system? Not at all, we have specific conditions that we'll be awarding the medal for.

I think what he means is it was like a lottery to get in to the system, if you were stuck outside spamming jump on the gate. Some people "won" and got in and thus will get rewarded for said luck. But that is just a guess on my part.

That is exactly what I meant. Dear Mr. CCP Falcon, you said there will be "specific conditions" that will grant us medals. Since the event ended, isn't it too late for us to do anything about it? That is why I said this is a "limited time" one-time offer reward.

Yes.

The event has already happened, but we've delayed giving out the medal due to the fact that people contacted us with regards to having it given in a different form than an ingame item, otherwise it would have been released some time ago.

Those who were involved in the battle will be rewarded when the time comes Smile

Thank you for the prompt response.

So does this mean that a thousand and half of us who waited on the other side of the gate for hours, trying to get in, get no credit whatsoever?

If the "Ribbon" was to be handed out as an item, we would have no quarrel since those who waited for hours, but could not get in, could pay for the item so he/she could cherish the event forever.

On the other hand, if the "Ribbon" comes in a form of a medal, basically you are telling a thousand and half of players that our effort meant nothing.

Please reconsider.

Players had ample warning about the population cap and many including myself simply logged of in space in Luminaire before downtime in order to guaranty being part of the event. This was not difficult nor was it TZ constrictive. If the cap wasn't there the event would have been completely unplayable for everyone who was in system, CCP was right to put a cap on the event in order for at least some people to participate. It was already difficult to play with TiDI at "18%" (yeah right try 50% -_- ) if CCP just opened up the flood gate to everyone the node would have just crashed and no one would have gotten to play. People were going to miss out no matter what CCP did.

Tidi did actually hit 10% at the laggiest moment of the fight. With player cap reaching over 2000.

Also note.... Tidi at 10% means it is 10% the normal speed, not 10% slower, Thats what the Tidi means, Tidi is normally 100%.

The least CCP could have done was to place respawnable NPCs around the gates so thousands of us who waited several hours less than you, the fortunate folks who were able to make it to the gate, had something to do. We did not wait for dozens of hours like you lucky folks, but I believe waiting for 5-6 hours around the gate, doing nothing, but waiting anxiously, is usually considered as an act only exhibited by "faithful" players.

I would hold no grudge if this "Ribbon" was handed out as an item. Those who value the event more will pay at whatever cost to obtain the item to cherish the memory. On the other hand, making this as a one-time super limited time "achievement" makes us wonder why the hell we waited for 5-6 hours at the gate after being exposed to so much publicity on EVE Dev Forum. Newsfeed, and Massively.com.

I do not like to waste time pursuing senseless goal. Mr. CCP Falcon, are you 100% certain that this special "Ribbon" is 100% out of reach for those players, who waited at the gates for several hours, but could not enter the system?

I was in and out of that system several times before the actual battle, waiting for something to actually happen. Then, couldn't get in at all.

Relatively sure if a killmail type system is used by CCP to determine who receives and who doesn't, then many of us are going to get screwed simply because of timezones and system cap.

I really hope that's not the case.

I can't say for certain as I don't know but I somewhat doubt that is going to be the deciding factor. If it was, then many of the Logi and EWar pilots wouldn't receive the medal even though they were in system. If you were a logi with logi drones and you didn't die, no kill reports. If you were EWar and your targets never died (you just slowed/stopped them for a bit), no kill report. Also those who flew combat and attacked some of the cap ships that didn't go down (or didn't go down till long after that pilot died) most likely would not be on the kill reports.

Also there is the additional problem that alot of kill reports simply weren't generated since the system was overloaded. Kill reports are the first thing the system drops so it can handle other processes, like people shooting at eachother. So all in all I doubt that is the method that will be used to determine who is given a medal. However that said, I've no idea what the wizards at CCP have come up with to figure it out.

Hope you're right. Hope it's something like a simple log showing all pilots that entered the system during a very broad time period.

What about those proud people supporting their respective effort on the gate in to Luminaire (aka not being allowed in...)

Yup. Please make this reward "item" so those who participated in the event (guarding the gate, waiting for hours to get in) that value the ribbons more than the original owners, have chance to purchase and cherish them for the rest of our capsuleer lives.

We will not be basing who receives the medal on who was on killmails of the NPCs that were fighting, as this would push out those logistics pilots that were on grid and were actively participating in the battle.

Hello,

Could you make the ribbons to items again so those who value more can purchase the items while simultaneously enriching those who do not care about the medals?

It seems like those who were not able to enter the Gate to participate in the actual battle will not be granted with the ingame Medal. Rewarding commodity based items allows those who waited for hours at the other side of the gate, to get fairly compensated (of course, by purchasing from the original holders).

There's been a large call for this to be released as a decoration not an ingame item, and it's something that the EVE Illuminati are unanimously in agreement on.

As such, we'll be releasing the reward that comes as a decoration that will appear in people's character sheets.
