Hello, all!

I see that the "Assault on Caldari Prime Ribbon" and "Defense of Caldari Prime Ribbon" have become items.

Might I suggest that any accolades to be awarded to pilots who participated in this event (or for whatever qualifications deemed relevant) be issued as medals which players can display on their profiles as decorations?

Decorations are more permanent, and I think more profound and rewarding. That and anyone can auto-link an item into a chat and proclaim "I was there! Look what I got!" without there being any way to show proof of participation. Plus, as an item, it can be lost, or bought (i.e., reminds me of a scenario begging for "stolen valor"), which would degrade its value.

However, if the award for participation (sic) is a medal, as a decoration, granted by the fleet commanders of the Federation and/or Caldari Navies (names escape me), the act is more permanent and motivating-there's no way to fake participation, and I would say such recognition through this act would motivate people to participate in future live events.

To help it remain unique, the medal could use graphics and designs which no standard player corporation can access (perhaps a ribbon extending down to a circle depicting the planet itself...I'm thinking of some old medals from the old 1995 X-Wing simulator by Lucasarts)

I second this motion. It has been done previously with the Caldari and Gallente FW medals, although it allegedly has been hard to implement.

You don't really need unique models for the medals. That's what the "granting corporation" bits are for.

Mmm, perhaps. But a medal unique to each live event might be interesting.

Also, some people were talking to me about "just how might this be done."

My response would be:
1. Check the killmails on the capital ships (those who shot Caldari get the Assault Medal, those who shot Gallente get the defense medal; the logs would show who shot who as well)
2. Check with Live Events personnel to see who participated (so we don't forget about our logistical support that kept alot of us alive; lots of us have screenshots with names, and fleet logs would show who participated as well)
3. Check Faction Warfare (Gallente, Caldari, easy enough)

I know it's lofty and might take some time, but, hell, so does setting up live events. :P

I was thinking that if CCP could issue medals regardless of who was in what corps, that might be simplistic. Or those who participated could be invited into a temporary corporation such as "awards ceremony" (sic).

Hell, the next live event could BE an awards ceremony, like in New Caldari or Algogille.

If you auto-link "Assault on Caldari Prime Ribbon" and "Defense of Caldari Prime Ribbon" in any text format, you will see it designate an item.

Recommendations:

-enable ships wobbling in hangar view (pre-Captains Quarters)

-add more missions (NPC fleet vs. NPC fleets that actually shoot)

I would love to see this implemeneted but it seems like a crapton of extra non-critical work for CCP and ergo I doubt it will happen. Creds if they do manage it, though.

Ah, well, yes, I haven't obtained or received one, and we're not sure of anyone who has as of yet.

Live Events Channel and FCORD discovered the existence of these items, so I got an idea in my head about them, hence this topic. :P

Unfortunately that won't work. Some of us smarter KM whores shot the titan and wyverns anyway because they going to die even though we were supporting the Caldari. Still shot and helped kill a lot of gallente caps. Of course you could give me both Blink

The simplest solution would be to find out where was there, then in game/through account management allow us to choose which one we would prefer.

What ever action they choose they will upset people, those who couldn't get into system because of the cap, those who didn't shoot the right targets, those who didn't fight due to x or y reasons.
Will be interesting to see what they do, I already got screwed out of one medal by CCP so I don't think I will lose any sleep over not getting one. P

Those who shoot the right targets, that would be one that I would fall under probably. I had a tough time getting into the fight, and when I was in, I didn't focus on the NPCs but instead assisting calls from other roleplayers.

For myself, it would be more an issue of management. There has been alot of feedback from past live events people on what we liked and didnt like. Most successful live events in terms of story, etc.

Personally, if they are going to become pointless gank fests, just about killmails and FFA fighting, I hope ccp just comes out and says so. I will sound bitter in this, I always sound bitter talking live events and roleplay. But this latest live event today, same thing. If they announce it, it will be a hotdrop, gank whatever. So lets not really let the people who make the live events work have time to do anything.
