IMO, this should be CCP's #1 priority!

The very large number of threads on the topic only demonstrates the importance of this.

As for remove local, few changes I can think of would have such a drastic and immediate crash in both the number of subscribed accounts and the total level of player activity.

That... was ....AWESOME!

I am STILL laughing!

Oh, wait... ...was he serious?

Cloaking ships are what keeps people in high security space?
Maaannn... and all this time I thought it was that NBSI policy so many alliances seem to have, go figure!

Apparently getting killed by a cloaked ship is worse than getting killed by 25 guys....how I don't know.

I beg to differ

Well, it seems they wont simply make cloaks have a timer or use fuel. Can you agree that those posts are stupid and a waste of time?

I can agree to disagree Blink.

Simply because if we stop discussing about it. CCP won't be able to get vital "intel" on what could be considered a good change for the whole of eve.

I can agree with CCP that the ideas currently presentet, mine included, might be to mutch focused on null-sec only while we should focus on all of the security spaces. Whitch again makes me feel that having local be a corp/alliance chat only, while also introducing a constellation-wide shared chat could be a good solution in all the sectors.

The ships hung in the sky in much the same way that bricks don't.

Whatever.

It seems perfectly clear from your link that:

1. CCP wont do anything until there is some sort of structure in place to allow for intel gathering.
2. Given 1, they aren't going to move...at all.
3. This means no cloak timers, no cloak fuel, nada, nothing, zip, zilch, zero, until they deal with 1.

So, stop being stuck on stupid. Don't post a whine and ***** thread about AFK cloaky tw*ts endlessly. That will get you precisely nowhere.

Instead, focus on decoupling local chat from intel. There needs to be some method of gathering intel on who is in "your space" otherwise, null will be even more of a ghost town.

Things to consider,

  1. The solution should work, at least to degrees for both NPC null and Sov null.
  2. It should allow pilots a degree of confidence so that they will undock.
  3. It shouldn't be so good that even a lazy dweeb can avoid being killed--i.e. if you are dumb, lazy, incompetent, some mixture of those, others should have a solid chance of killing you if they happen to find you.
  4. Whatever nerf is applied to cloaks it should not render them useless for legitimate non-AFK work--i.e. sneaking into a vulnerable system past the gate camp and light a cyno for an invasion fleet.

Let me add that number 4 means "system wide pulse modules that are part of a POS set up" are probably right out. Scan probes that scan cloaked ships are also likely out. Ships that emit a decloaking pulse are also likely out (think of the current use of "firewall" Mallers. Any defender will likely place a number of such decloaking ships around the gate to make it impossible for cloaked ships to entery system.)

BTW, I really like Mynna's addition to the IFF beacon suggestion:

Quote:
Another upshot is that these structures, the IFF Beacon in particular, would be a legitimate candidate to qualify as a "small gang" target. Antenna are not exactly known to be the most robust structures, after all, and there would be no good reason to give them an inordinate amount of HP. An intruding gang could, with relative ease, eliminate the local beacon to provide a blind-spot for their gate camp... or perhaps in addition to being destructible, they're hackable, and invading forces can take control of them for their own purposes. In larger scale warfare, perhaps an invading force (subcapital or otherwise) is preceded by a smaller gang, knocking out their target's beacons to hide the presence of the inbound fleets.

Would really add a new flavor to the game, IMO. Obviously the hacking part would have to be done well.

I tend to think that bump is a bit OP, and can only be countered by posting goofy comments.

These also perform the brief effect of moving the thread up the list, so others can observe it is NOT cloaked by page two effects.

After all, that search function is SOOO challenging.....

It may not need a nerf, but goofy posts must be accepted as an acceptable means of balance.

Now that I've had my coffee...yes, I see what you mean.

In other news, bacon and egg biscuits (basically eggs wraped in bacon in a muffing tin and baked) are awesome. I had 3 last night.

Those sound overpowered... I cannot imagine other breakfast items being able to compete with them, except perhaps sausages cloaked in pancake batter with egg torpedo...
And those have been balanced to be unable to withstand even minor attacks from an average fork wielding person.

Silly, there has been a counter for that for years now, it is compressed disks of calcium carbonate.

Okay, now that I've had a (vodka) martini (and dirty at that) and have a tri-tip cooking on the grill....

Yes, the eggs wrapped in bacon are very powerful. Their natural counter is fried chicken and waffles.

There is another thread about cloaking out there, but I cannot locate it exactly.

It is cloaked, possibly AFK, and probably has links to many other threads that create a threat projection of topics from other forums.

We need to fit this thread with a tank, just in case.

Don't have time for some witty comment here, so I'll just have to go with something simple and short. Something that will get this thread back up on top and only take a few seconds. Wish I had more time, but I just don't.
