I would support cloaking changes if you all support the Stealth bomber being able to use the new cruise missiles as a second weapon system, like it used too back in the day.

Since I know that probably wont happen, I am afraid people like me will just have to keep afk cloaking to disrupt your isk making and keeping you wondering when I might actually not be afk and pop ya.

Given the Stealth Bomber is, lorewise, engineered to carry battleship-grade ordinance it wouldn't be too far fetched to see it cruise missile capable. Though while the idea sounds pretty amazing, the main advantage of cruise missiles is their range - and bomber bonuses (along with Javelin torpedoes if you really want more range) already make up for that.

Precision cruises + frigates expecting easy prey however... Big smile

(In short - CCP should make it happen just to see what happens!)

I'd say hotdrops are practical because they're fun and practical. Bridge into the system. Caress the target gently with some bomber love. Bridge out. Laughs all around.

Your first line is something I would expect of someone incapable of rational thought.
Grow up and try harder instead of repeating tired expressions.

Something can be fun, and if that's all you want it is fine.
Being practical means the risks and costs must outweigh those associated with alternates.

Putting a cyno on grid with the target only has value if they will be warned by the population spike local broadcasts.
Otherwise, it is a pointless risk exposure of the logistic bottleneck to an obviously hostile force.
Sure, they may not react every time in a way that beats the dropper, but why do you want to hand out free opportunities?

It would totally make me happy in my pants if they did. When I first started playing eve, bombers still had cruise launchers. My first kill came as a war deck just started, and our enemy was sitting outside our station camping us in and they had a blackbird sitting there which was the issue.

I logged into game having log out in space 150km off from the station. Timed it with my corp mates, they undocked, I uncloaked fired 2 volleys on the BB and he went splat.
We locked them down and worked them over pretty good.

2nd kill was a ceptor that got 1 shotted and my 3rd kill was against a Vengeance withe a corp mate who locked him down in a ceptor.

All kills were 150km or more out. Had more kills and it was a blast, literally... then came the torp change. I hated it at first, tested it again moving battleships and the damage reduction was rather evil and still dislike it to this day.

To this day, I want my old bomber back. Atleast the option to use cruise on them. With the cruise update, I would seriously go on a murdering spree.

Torpedoes are actually pretty amazing - especially now after CCP rebalanced penalties from T2 missiles and made Guided Missile Precision skill affect them.

Still, let's not create needless offtopic. It would seem some Odyssey changes could work towards reducing the problem.

- Nullsec industry buffs mean it's profitable to mine in nullsec space
- Grav sites added to the anom scanner thingie, less places to hide
- Faster scan when entering system and anoms displayed on the screen itself. This may not sound like much, but when trying to catch someone, having to do a full scan (10s) + opening the system map and ensuring it's the right green tick you're warping to takes precious seconds.

As the devs said, "More reasons to be in space". I'm sure many a cloaky would rather go after an active target than sit still in a system for days becaouse something might undock.

Cause your stupid enough not the see an issue where there is an issue doesn't mean that there isn't an issue there.

Yes make this sticky. People talk about it alot. It is a topic that raises over and over again meaning there is an issue here.

People are posting terrible, unoriginal anti-cloaking ideas again. Time to bump this up to the front page.

To be honest, constant AFK cloaking probably needs to be addressed in some way. I however don't find it an issue to have people cloak for hours at a time, but 23.5 hours a day seems a little excessive.

why not? its the only way to get people out of stations or POS who is limited to one or few rented systems. You cant eject them so you force them either not to play or take the risk finally after 3 days of having a neutral in local. This is all right, a lot of effort to kill someone IMO.

THIS.

Null is not the section of the game intended to have players able to avoid PvP to the degree it is effectively consensual.

High sec is the place for that, where the intended and specific exceptions such as war decs and suicide ganking are in place to limit this even in 1.0 space.

The solution is to address the amazing intel capabilities of local. Basically rebalance local so that residents have some way of gathering intel. The reason AFK cloaking "works" and people do it is because of local and how local works. Change that and you'll likely change the desire to AFK cloak.

One thing would be to remove local, or make it like W-space and then also provide alternative means of gathering intel. Some things like IFF beacons that could be used to check who came into and left a given system. Make it so those beacons could be attacked and/or hacked and you could add something to the game that makes it more interesting all around.

Others have gone on about these possibilities at some length. Links are further back up stream.

I had a guy semi-AFK cloaking with an orca for two week in the WH system I lived i in.

He was using the orca as a mobile invisible POS for refitting and storing stuff, including his nemesis, helios and cloaky tengu.

I managed to add him and his alt to my watchlist.

He almost never logged off.

For two weeks.

I think he liked it being there, like some kind of tourist attraction.
