An expansion usually is the addition of game content and usually includes enlarging the gaming world. Patches are usually fixes to existing content that might not be working as the developers had intended.

You realize that you get two a year and they're free right?

Consider how much EVE changes in the usual expansion cycle of other MMOs.

For this next one, I think it is safe to speculate something "safe" on the order of Retribution:

Final ship rebalancing.
More DUST integration. War Barge/ location between Dust and Eve.
One overhaul of an old system (but not POSes)
Maybe a new ship or two.
Numerous "quality of life" UI fixes and updates. Overview or corp management UI seems a prime target of the ones left.

The tesselation video shown last fan fest looks an awful lot like a planetary ring. Maybe ring mining but unlikely.

Waking in Stations will probably not be touched till late next year or until bottom line PCs get powerful enough to run
incarna + multiple clients. If ever.

POSes/ destructable stations maybe by winter or early next year if they determine it is worth the code.

Those fixes and iterations are a lot more important and add a lot more to the game than any new shinies and "jesus features". Tiericide is fantastic and the most important thing going on currently. So are the enhancements to the UI, even when they are small-ish like getting the autopilot options out of the starmap and into the main HUD.


If i would get a feature wish, though:

Personally, i am hoping that one day CCP will fix the game in a way that will allow me to set up shop in NulSec as a manufacturer. Right now i would love to but it just doesn't make any sense as i get better ISK from producing for a HiSec market hub.

I'm actually banking on a "space truckers" sort of expansion with industrials getting rebalanced. CCP will completely **** it up like they did with the barge buff though, so everyone will end up using the Badger II or the Iteron I, depending on whether they want to actually haul cargo or whether they're paranoid as ****, respectively.

Two pod ships!

And opening the doors of the Captain's Quarters to make them into social hubs.

I want to sit in a player owned bar in a station drinking player made boost drinks watching a view screen that is a direct feed of a player-made camera drone placed out in the system somewhere while some pilot with hacking skills hacks the drone and changes the feed to another location.

They will also allow Dust Bunnies up into the stations to interact directly with EVE players - maybe introducing the ability to send down camera drones to the surface to watch the battle from above.

Oh, they'll also redo all of the sovereignty mechanics and replace the current system with a new security system whereby player characters can build up or lower the security level of a system based on occupation and industrial development. The more player made infrastructure the higher the security value of the system. Players can then pay for their own NPC security patrols to provide security to those systems...

They'll also make claiming sov based on system objectives so a system that is being contested will have multiple objectives to claim forcing multiple fights in a system without shooting at a single structure for hours.

Or.. maybe we'll get a reskinned frigate-classed ship.

They did that when the game was released, its called Null Sec.

Personally, I would love to see Jove space opened up, and some kind of Jove interaction for players, they have had there space closed off forever.
