new idea: pirate raids (a profundization in incursions)

okai, skipping the usual term for raid, i take this inspired by the Sansha Incursions we already have, and the planetary attacks that appear in the news channel.

the idea:

a pirate raid consist in an organized invasion to a system (be it high, low or null sec, maybe WH too), in a way similar to an incursion, (this would require a new group of pirate supercaps, for guristas, angels, blood raiders and serpentis). the attack would also include planetary attacks, thus giving an interaction with DUST players.

rogue drones could also include this event, but would require the creation of other types of units (i dont have much knowledge about rogue drone units).

sleepers could make WH a bit more challenging, being able to form raids inside their solar systems, in order to encourage the protection of POSes and other structures supportwed by players.

every pirate faction would do these invations in their especific territories, (like serpentis and angels in gallente space, sanshas and blood raiders in amarr, angels and guristas in minmatar, and sanshas and guristas in caldari, rogue drones would be at random locations)

I like this idea.

I also like the idea of the system being able to cope with raids by two groups turning up in the same place. Sort of like a system wide version of the mission "Worlds Collide."

We already have a lot of ideas for Live Events, and something very similar to this in terms of system wide attacks has already been discussed.

In the same respect, Live Events aren't simply novelty "one off" events, when we run them, they have to tie into a greater arc, and have to make sense in terms of backstory progression.

But most of eve do see the as "Live Events simply a novelty", .5% of the poeple there are for the lore and RP 1.5% are passing by, and 98% are there to shoot devs in the face for LULZ.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a system for determining a participant's level of investment in the event? That way the event could be tailored to please all types. People who are just there to blow stuff up will have plenty of targets and will influence the event's course in a (roughly) "tactical" manner. People with more 'investment' in the event (who are there for the story) could be allowed to have more impact beyond how many pirate ships they can blow up before things devolve into a PvP mosh pit (at which point no-one may be there for the story).

When I speak of of "invested people' what I mean is people like Ninavisk or Grideris who often make meaningful attempts to influence the plot of events via chat (not just their guns) or anyone who donated billions to the construction of AJs Site One (I donated 2 billion myself and handled another 2 billion in other people's assets... and The Antiquarian sunk in well over 10 billion). Whether 'investment' be from dedication to the events (e.g. Grideris), significant contribution to the lore (e.g. AJ), or strait financial clout (i.e. ISK investment), there are ways of measuring a participants' likelihood of contributing to the event in a meaningful, non-combat manner. As it stands, there's no real way to have such an impact aside from hoping you devs like the idea in chat or on the forums (e.g. see Project Hydrogen Bomb).

I figure it must be annoying to no end to be in the middle of trying to tell (or participate in) a story and have your event trampled over by a raging bear rather outside your control as a storyteller. A lot of nuance gets lost when the ending is always 'and then everything exploded'.

... I hope that made sense.
