they dont fix what isnt broke, where other MMOs have massive, gamebreaking bugs that no one knows about and are constantly abused, EVE has massive, unpopular features that are supported by the minority

That's kind of a double edge sword to be honest, since there will be older players that will stick around and continue to develop their skills and the amount of money they have, but need objectives to aim for and in this respect, CCP has failed horribly as they still conform to the idea that the average EVE player plays the game for a year before quitting, so they concentrate on content that's relatively easy to aim for within that time period.

There are those, even if we're a minority, who have played the game since it's very beginning, and did so non stop and where objectives to aim for are getting pretty much non existant once an entire decade has passed since having started on this EVE adventure......Fact is there hasn't been any content for the older player base in years, as the focus for CCP has been the new player experience pretty much exclusively.

They're running the game by the numbers basically and concentrating their efforts on content that affects the widest possible amount of players, wich unfortunately leaves out the much older players who CCP take for granted and feel they don't have to do a single thing anymore, even if it furthers the gap between newer and older players wich i'm sure many will bring this up as a counter argument to adding more content for the older players.

Too many of the old guard have either left out of sheer boredom, or simply log on to change skills and log off right away.....

Like i said if only half of the vision of this game is true ,CCP has serious competition
For now there is nothing else like EvE and his genre " sci-fi"

Well, not entirely true, there is evochron mercenaries, which is also sandbox and also multiplayer, but it's not in the same league as EVE...

we have to wait how SC turns out to be.
I don,t think Sc will be as EvE,would be a stupid thing if it is.
But the promise of immersion is great in that" game to be"

I think you fail to realize that "end game" content for older players is not for CCP to make. EVE is also different from any other MMORPGs because the players make the "end game" content, not the developer. If you want developer generated content in EVE, go run missions, sites or live in a c5/c6 WH with other players. If you want if you want actual end game content, join a nullsec alliance or live in a c6 WH. You have to have logi and maybe a cap ship just to run anoms in those sites. The point is to get any kind of descent content out of EVE, you have to make a plan and join up with others to help in your ventures for said plans. If you want a 40 man raid, then make a 40 man fleet and roam in a nullsec alliances territory. From what I hear, they are bored to tears anyway.

thank god ,that Eve is different then any other MMO.
And if Chris Roberts is smart then he will not try to make a EvE duplicate .
The game is still in development and it can go in all sort of directions.

That's the whole problem right there to be honest.......Pretty much all of the older player base are stinking rich, have the best implants and hardwirings in game, is flying either a super carrier or a titan, has tons of skills trained up and you want them to endlessly PVP in all it's forms when there's nothing to gain for said people in any way that significantly affects them.

So the " end game content" simply isn't there if it means repeating the same things dozens or even hundreds of times out of boredom and nothing more.

Don,t get it ,or the average age of this community is 80 years and still using an uplifted calculator as PC or are poor or just stubborn.
The future players of the SC game are completely different.

Anyone ever play Vendetta? Seems to be an Eve copy, but I havent tried it. Im kinda getting bored of Eve (again). I just cant dedicate the time it takes to be where I want to be.

Tried the trial, I got lag which made it unplayable but for the short lag free time it was okay.

No avatar, all the ships are tiny little... Well, You, Be, The, Judge. No station screen. Ships shoot giant plasma like balls and the graphics are not that great. The community is very tiny as well.

That being the worst parts I will let the trailer explain the best: trailer.

Yeah I saw that one. The only thing I dont like about it is that its not an MMO. Dont get me wrong Id play it... just wont get excited since its a one time play. I love the sandbox of eve, and the non grind up of characters.... Just get bored from time to time.

Im really looking forward to http://www.infinity-universe.com since it will be all that eve is but MUCH MUCH more.

It just may take them a couple years to finish. They have been working on it since '06. But its just a couple guys making it work and have a huge ambition. They are planning a kickstarter finally. Up until this, they havent accepted any real donations from anyone other then peoples time.

You forgot about what the KS is for: Infinity: Battlescape. Sure, it won't be TQFE, but it'll have the important stuff, like the 1:1 scale seamless solar system, the twitch, 6DOF controls, and even a bit of a sandbox, even if they can only hit the minimum goal.

Quite true and while i could understand it in the early days of first person shooters when the novelty factor helped make it popular, i fail to understand the appeal when there's been a dozen releases in a game series like COD or battlefield and the only thing they can do is make the graphics look better and make larger multiplayer maps with more players on either side and that's about it...

Maybe a whole new generation of players that haven't played the earlier versions keeps both series alive?( they are both pushing 10 years since the first releases)....Either way i can play them for a couple of weeks on both single and multiplayer until i've played all the new maps and have most of the unlocks acheived and it ends there.

Latest victim is Crysis 3 where i played the single player side for a week to get it done, and i might try the multiplayer for a bit, even though the visuals are the best in any game release so far( and hardware punishing too).

I'm pretty stoked on Star Citizen. It's actually what reminded me that I have this EVE account from 2009 that I did about 6mil training on, but never really played. After going from SWG>WoW>Aion>Rift>and WoW again>SW:TOR>and finally to EVE... I couldn't be more happy gaming than I have been since first playing SWG. I only wish I started EVE sooner. But it'll be interesting to see how SC pans out and how they keep it unique. Nothing wrong with some healthy competition (if they can pull it off) in the space sim genre. Besides we need way more sandbox games out there and that don't follow the "WoW / theme-park" model. It's so overdone.
