The best thing about Eve is that there is no alternative to Eve. I welcome a replacement, and I hope all the die-hard Eve fans stay the **** where they are.

The Freelancer creator is the guy doing Star Citizen. It's 2 years from an alpha or beta at the very soonest. End of 2014.

I'm looking forward to it though...

a good example are theme park based mmorpgs like wow. one after another failed because there is already a polished game out.

Utterly wrong, this game is in no way polished. The one very big thing it is would be broken.

I would take a guess and say that Valve has funds only CCP can dream of. Therefore if they wanted to....expect a game to be created that is better than Eve.

I love this game however but never ever underestimate another workshop thinking that Eve is the end game for space based MMOs because that's when something comes along and kicks its a$$. CCP have very clearly lost all passion for the game.

Yes the new videos are nice with CCP verysmallguy being rather funny "bounty hunting" but CCP continue to NOT fix things that we have been asking for a very long time.

Just watched the video for RSI and yeah the graphics most seriously kick Eves behind in truth....real time rendered and you can see its got tessellation built in, probably directX10 possibly 11?

Bioware/EA/SWTOR prove that throwing a lot of money at a project doesn't necessarily make it good.

Valve very very rarely fail.....

RSI is being made by a legend, who has made legendary games. All im seeing is win.

Game was announced a couple days ago and has already raised half a million dollars in pledges. Saw the trailer and that game is going to be an awesome space sim. I look forward to it. Very BSG looking and I will get to use my Saitek X52 flight control system on it. I've always wanted to play a great space sim.

Same was said of Bioware before SWTOR.. and of Blizzard before Diablo 3... I'm just sayin..

And I hope that at least one of these projects pans out and becomes a fantastic game. Competition is good in any market.

As Polished as EvE? Wow, just wow...Ive been playing since well almost the beginning, we still have bugs that date back that far. Eve will never win the polished award from anyone that is even close to sane. Sorry i love the game too, but i cant lie to myself about that statement...

These games will surely launch without a single bug or gameplay issue.

Nice, they're 1% along the way to raising what it costs to develop a full MMO!

...yah. Also remember that Black Prophecy failed as a game this year, and Jumpgate Evolution turned into vapor and every memory of it's existence is being methodically erased from the interwebs by the corporate VC oligarchs. BSG Online? Probably the most awesome browser game ever... with all the depth of a baby pool you would expect. It's run it's course. So... 2012 was a very harsh year for internet spaceships.

If Chris Roberts is making half the game he was talking about ,that game will be big competition.

1/2 a million dollars in pledges in two days shows a lot of people want this game. Even if all those pledges were the 250$ pledges, that's still a lot of people in two days. their pledges range from 20$ to 10,000$ pledges one person can make. If the demand is there, the product will ultimately be made. Dec. 2014 is a couple years away. plenty of time for them to raise plenty of money.

Maybe you haven't sampled many of the other MMOs out there. I never came across another one as polished and bug-free as EVE. (Admittledly, I never tried out WoW, the big guy of the MMOs).

You forgot Infinity http://www.infinity-universe.com/Infinity/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=26

TA on wis: "when we have a feature that is its own functional ecosystem of gameplay then hooks into the greater ecosystem of EVE as a whole, and it provides good replayability."
