Happens to me once or twice per week now, only in the evenings. If it happens, then the whole server ip address becomes unreachable for a short timeframe (sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes). Might be some carrier issue.

No steam btw.

VPN should not fix your problem, the problem is with CCP.....dont patch things up for them.

If VPN is fixing the problem then it sounds like the issue is ISP based. I have asked those who submitted bug reports on this issue to confirm their location and ISP but neither of them have gotten back to me yet. If others experiencing the problem can do likewise it will help us confirm one way or the other.

Im on century link in nevada, and yes century link is the worst ISP i have had in 15 years online. However, this socket close problem only started with inferno. Before inferno, I would get disconnected on 1 or 2 clients maybe once a week (this was similar to my time on cox cable internet). Since inferno, all my clients get the closed socket at the same time, several times a day.

titan tracking, mineral changes, incursion updates, none of that matters if i cant actually stay logged in

The problem is the same for me wether I use my vpn or not, yesterday I thought the problems might have gone away since I could play all afternoon but today I get this error every 3 min, I can't even stay on long enough to dock, this is completely unacceptable.

I'm having the same issue with the double socket closed pop-ups appearing. I'm also running 1 to 3 clients at a time but the issue happens regardless of how many are running and only happens to 1 and the others continue normally. It is making the game nearly unplayable because it is happening too frequently to risk trying to PvP in a decent ship/clone.

Tried stopping Steam and every other internet-connected service, didn't help. I get the double socket closed error about once every half hour or so on average, and it's been happening ever since I got back into EVE two weeks ago. Essentially unplayable.

Same disconnect error here, no other sing, juts out of the blue it says: "socket closed".

Also, it is completely random, last night it was ok - for hours - , today morning also, but after dt i cant even log in long enough to check on PI ...

And no error log, since nothing happening, it just disconnects.

System specs: Wine 1.6 - only d3d11 disabled Ubuntu 12.04 NVidia Gfx

For the record I am not using Steam and it's seems quite a few others don't either so it doesn't seem limited to that.

I'm using Steam and get socket closeds but I'm not sure if it's related.

I never had the problem. Now the game is unplayable, it crashes continuously, I never get more than 30 minutes between crashes. Steam or anything else I have tried makes no difference.

I've had socket close errors lately. I live in south texas with Grande as my ISP. Top notch ISP wi th great speeds and low ping for all my games.

I was using dual clients on my main machine one night when one of the clients suddenly spit out a socket closed error and restarted. I confirmed on the other client that the first client's ship was still logged into space and never moved. The client with the error logged back in normally and was still in the same spot as when the socket closed. So no emergency warp out occurred. My wife was online in a different game and never noticed a single hiccup (streaming radio etc never showed a d/c on my machine).

Just a little while ago I was running an account on my main machine and another account on my secondary machine. The secondary machine displayed a socket closed error and restarted. My primary machine never had a problem and is still connected in eve and netflix was rolling fine. It appears this time that the ship warped out like you would expect from a d/c.

I get the socket error very rarely but it happens a couple times a week for no apparent reason. The scenarios are the same with the host computer never showing a connection issue at except for Eve and the socket error.

EDIT: In case there's any doubt I immediately began running tracerts to all sorts of IPs when the problem occurred to sse if I was dropping packets unexpectedly (streaming stuff usually has a large buffer so hiccups are less noticeable). No packets were dropped and I didn't even see an unusually large ping. I have been unable to force a recreation of the problem even if I load all 5 computers up and hit my ISP hard while playing Eve.

Now the client on the main machine got a socket error and restarted while in a starbase..Meanwhile I'm still warping around fine on the second machine..

Same error here.

Two popups telling me that the socket was closed. I cannot even play 15 minutes at a time without getting thrown out.

I have forwarded port 26000 TCP as mentioned in some earlier threads, but it didn't help.

Here is my tracert:

I cant give you the requested technical information.. Why, you ask.. Because im not an expert on such things. All I know is - Eve has become almost unplayable.. EVERY TIME I log into the game - I dc with socket errors every 5mins.. I have never had these issues before and its ridiculous. I've been paying you since 2008 and if this continues - and I cant even enjoy the game - then i'll save my money.

I love Eve - but I literally cant play. And all this tech mumbo jumbo - i have not clue what your talking about... Layman's terms please - its the least you can do.

I tried switching to port 3724 and setting my PC to use DMZ in my router. None of that worked. Also plugging my PC directly to the internet without any router did not work.

I also noticed that when I play for the first time after some hours, it works for 15 min. or so. Then I get thrown out. And when I restart immediatly after that, I get thrown out after like 1-2 minutes, each time. So if I get disconnected once, I won't be able to play again...

This is seriously f*cked up. I already regret returning for Inferno, spending one monthly fee...

I have resolved the issue, but I can not name any specific fix. I suspect though that my MTU settings had something to do with the problem.

Don't hope too soon. I also had one run where I could play for 2 hours straight and was able to quit EVE regularly.

But after that, never again.

Just sayin', the problem will most likely return ;)
