Hey now! Smile

The simple fact is that if we had this new system right off the bat, and CCP tried to change it to the old system, people would be screaming about being forced to open separate windows to do anything.

In that case, it would be right to call that an 'Update' and I'd be playing atm...let's see;
-less lag because loading of useless isk nfo would be gone
-more room on HUD now due to lack of 'tree'
-Faster and more efficient looting/mining/POS

Y do u think the old system has been used all these yrs?

How do you respond after ACTUAL usage ?

I AM using it right now. This isn't anything CCP invented either, if this was a bad file management system, it wouldn't have been used in every single iteration of Windows since 3.11. In EVE It requires some getting used to after using the old system for so long, but I suspect the learning curve to be rather low.

I do agree though that CCP should have kept the option to use the old system as well though. We still have DOS in Windows too after all.

Not all of us like playing 'Windows OS'. It's an OS, not a game.

And the reason there is DOS, and always will be DOS, Is cause 'Windows' is a simple interface for ur simple mind. One simple line of assembly code will prevent ur 'Windows' from loading, and u'll be stuck at a black screen staring at C:\_ , thinkin' to urself, "wtf is this?"

Wait, so your argument is that DOS is better to use than Windows... which means a system nearly identical to the OS we are all intimately familiar with is therefore far worse to use?

REALLY?!?

My argument is if there was no DOS, there would be no 'Windows'. And if there were no 'Windows' there would STILL be DOS.
I've used pc's b4 there were 'windows'. 'Windows' is better in the sense that for ur simple minds, little pretty pictures are easier for u to comprehend ;) But with one line of assembly code written in a DOS environment, all ur pretty little pictures will burn. Also assembly coding or any other coding is very tedious in a DOS environment, so in that case, a 'windows' type environment is preferred. But in the end...it comes down to DOS, and on/off registers....

I think you'll find that many EVE players are familiar with DOS, so you can dismount the high horse.

Older and clunkier does not mean better, most of us have more important things to concern ourselves with. By your logic we should ditch cars because a horse and wagon is clearly better.

Well, feel free to continue shoveling ****. The rest of us have better things to do.

Getting an overview of what's on your harddrive was very impractical in DOS. That's why Norton Commander was such a useful program. And guess what that looked like, right, Windows Explorer.

Because that is all we had. Roll

- Lag issues affect some with large inventories and not others. It is unlikely that the ISK value is the source of the lag issues that some are experiencing. You are assuming things you have no real information on, stop pretending that you do.

- The "Tree" takes up far less space than a multitude of now useless windows. Moving inventory requires 1/2 inch of dragging as opposed to dragging all the way across your screen.

- Looting is just as fast as it always was unless you were in the habit of opening all of your windows ahead of time and clicking loot all in rapid succession (same number of clicks, by the way), and this is already being addressed as the Dev Bog pointed out.

How many times do people need to explain these things before it begins to sink in, seriously.

Well, if you want to go along with this argument about it being like windows, let me shoot that turkey down for you real quick.

It's like windows, if you removed every shortcut I have, prevented the creation of new shortcuts, removed the desk top, and left me having to go dig through the menu system EVERY TIME I want to get to something. So basically, it's like windows with any and all semblance of user-friendliness removed. And I still want to see the person responsible for implementing this beaten with a lead pipe.

Those exist? I've tried getting one, but you know how hard it is to find a woman into martial arts who isn't Married, 12, or there because her boyfriend brought her? I gave up on that pipe dream a while ago :(

Also, if you want to try something with your horse and 2 samurai swords, I'll just have to grabbed a large stick/metal rod/whatever I can find, and spear your horse. Then laugh after you fly off the horse and break a few bones. Barring that, let me go grab a composite bow and punch a hole through your torso. A single horseman isn't very dangerous if you know how to fight one. Not to mention that in an apocolypse situation, your horse probably died of hunger, or was slaughtered for food in the first place, leaving just two "samurai swords". I wonder how long you'll wander with two swords before someone shoots and loots you...

All of your "short cuts" are conveniently grouped in the menu that we call the "tree". Work is currently underway to make this easier to access and organize, a "favorites" menu if you prefer.

Relax.
