CCP continues to ask people to do things that defy logic with regard to file permissions and firewalls.

Turning off your firewalls to permit the game to update is just as bad an idea as playing with file permissions like this.

But hey according to several idiots in this thread, we should all just relax and not worry about our game time lost due to CCP's mistakes. We should all file petitions according to them. Let's see how well that goes right?

My current error with the launcher, hangs at 14.4% on step 1/3. Patched previously via someone uploading the patches and then importing which worked fine, but have yet to get someone to do that. Would be nice if ccp provided a link to patches since their launcher, even though it looks nice, is kind of crap =/

This is similar to the log from the launcher, as that mentioned the "_trinity_deploy.dll" also.


The easy solution is to move your EVE install to a location you have write access to.

I am logged in as the administrator ID on my PC, Win XP Pro SP3, Is there a way I can modify access permissions just for the CCP part of my program files??

Should I even need to, or just cross my fingers that the launcher will be fixed from within??

So how big is the new patch?

based on the patch notes it cannot be that big, so why is the crap launcher downloading a 100mb?

The launcher goes to 25% and then restarts (already done this over 200 times)

The solution I've found to updating the game using the launcher (if it errors out due to permissions or w/e bs it throws). Find a friend or someone to export the patch via the launcher then import it and it should apply.

Link to current patch on evefile which has allowed me to get back in the game and play

Yay, our third 1.5 patch to break clients and require a full payload download and reinstallation to get working. WAAAAAAY faster than waiting for some patient genius to fix CCP's mistakes.

Demand compensation in game time, I say we deserve 3 days at this point.

Wow, how do you come to three days? I think it's more, especially as it seems that an update rollback is not being planned.... thus I think we can safely assume that it's either a rollback or MANY more days until they have all the issues fixed to at least pre-1.5 quality level.

I've been told that the Mac client is in an even more desperate state - the launcher has fewer options, the frame rate sometimes drops to unplayable levels (one-hand-number).

I think this should happen:
- a high-tier member of CCP should announce what's done at Iceland to solve the problem, and an approximate timeline
- a way to manage the skill queue via website (We should have this already, sigh!)
- a rollback of the update asap
- more responses from the devs and the CCP mgmt in threads like this
- a compensation of some sort
- a serious quality control management upgrade at CCP
- a fusion of the codebase of the mac- with the pc client

I'd also like to hear from the CSM what they are going to do.... maybe there are some posts regarding this issue in their forum realm... I'm going to check...

I've lost less time than most people because I can sometimes afford to sit all day trying to fix things myself. But yeah, sad as it is... I kind of expect the universe to be restored from a backup 1-2 weeks ago. I imagine a lot of sov changes during this mess can be disputed due to CCP suuuuuuckiiiiiiiiiiiiiing.

Finally got it sorted

Had the "internet connection being disabled and hanging at step '6/7 initialising' " - type problem

Managed to get some play the other day after a fresh install (via the manual route) and by running from the EVE/bin exe file
Scuppered by the patch yesterday

Finally got it to run as intended by turning off AVG internet security (temporarily disabled via the advanced settings menu)
It only took a few seconds (got the big patch sorted earlier) but still - virus checker running as I type

Main reason for posting - just to say thanks to the players coming up with the workarounds - esp those re: AVG (around page 31 or so of this thread) TYVM Big smile

To CCP - is tomorrow's hot fix necessary with players still struggling to patch? The patch notes only show minor tweaks - could these wait? Some guys are going to have to download a whole new client again or use an unsuitable workaround again at this stage.

A research just finished, I tried to set another BP for research, since i'm not in the station where the BP is it couldn't find any slot... I had to find the system and station in the research UI to finally get the empty slots...

Research is bugged and there's no mention of a fix on the research in the latest patch notes. Basically you introduce new bugs where there was no modification.

I still can't get onto EVE, even with my ESET AV disabled (previously it had SPI allow-rules for EVE).

As I mentioned, the same issues that I provided screenshots for days ago in this thread are still there.

Previously I was able to get it patched by running the launcher installer but that's not working this time around (it still says that the launcher is a 16-bit application). ExeFile says that it's corrupted, and repair.exe fails.

CCP Atropos had me help him before by providing my 1.11 launcher files, but I haven't heard anything back from him since (it's been like 4 days).

I dont fu....g beleive THIS!!
After all we went through initially I got mine up and running by downloading the full client and bypassing the launcher. (See my previous posts)
Now today new patch and SAME PROBLEM!!!!!
Launcher just loops!!
DO you really want me to download the complete client AGAIN!!!!!!
