EVE Ships Skills Planner is a small tool I created to have a quick and easy overview of which ships I can fly in EVE Online.

One of the main problem when you start to play EVE online is to decide what ships you want to fly.
Once you found a ship, you have to learn all the skills required to fly it.
But how much will it really take to be able to fly that ship?
And more importantly how much more time would it take to fly it efficiently?

Or, you could be a corporation recruiter evaluating a potential recruit.
Can that guy really fly a bomber? or a carrier? or a hulk ? without wasting the ship potential because that player can barely use it (meaning he just has the minimum skills required to fly it)
How much time would it take for that player to be efficient with that ship?

Or when a corporation is at war and you are in dire need of snipers or tacklers, how long would it take for your members to train for those roles ?

It is to answer those questions that I created this tool.

For each ship available in EVE Online the tool will display if you have the skill required to at least fly it, as well as the skills you need to fly it efficiently (according to the ship certificates)

Now this tool is still under development.
I am adding feature as fast as I can think of them, and implement them.
It is also possible that there are still a few bugs that I missed in all my testing.

I will update the News section when I do modifications to the tool.
So be sure to check it from time to time.

If you find any bugs, or inconsistencies in the data, please leave a message in this thread.
I will come read it often and try to fix the bugs as soon as possible.

You can get the tool here.

I just finished the tutorial for those that need a little bit of help with the tool.
But I think I made it simple enough for everyone to understand how it works without a step by step tutorial. Smile

You better cross-post it in 'Ships & Modules" forum. It will get more attention there.

I have uploaded a new version of the tool.

The new features are:

  • Filtering: There is now a new menu entry 'Options'. From there you can open the Filters window and apply various type of filters on the ships in the grid.
  • Grid information: added some basic information about the grid in the status bar:
  1. Number of ships
  2. Number of ships you can fly
  3. Number of ships you can fly efficiently

As usual suggestions and bugs are welcomed

Filtering out by tech levels would be nice.

Great tool though. I like it.

Following a sugestion from Barlat I had added support for the Tech Level of each ships.
So you can see, sort and filter the ship by tech level.

The new version has been uploaded, so you can use the 'Update' option in the 'Help' menu.

As usual comments, bugs and suggestions are welcomed.
sk donation for support are welcome too. Cool

I fix a bug reported by a few people that would show an exception when loading the tool.
It was complaining about not finding the 'ships.xml' file.

This is now fixed and the first time you start the tool it should correctly ask to get the file automatically.

The new version has been uploaded in the download section.

I fixed the character selection to upgrade the ships grid so that it is automatically up to date when you switch between characters.

Nice tool :)

Do you think you can make it multiplateforme ? Maybe in java or python ?

Will be really happy if you can make it run on linux without having to use Wine to launch it :)

Hi

Unfortunatly, my java and python are really limited.
I would really love to have everyone being able to use it on every platform, but my own skills set the limitation. Cry

Well, JAVA ain't so different than C#. Once you know C# well it's easy to transpose the code to JAVA (assuming that you are familiar with JAVA syntax). What is painful in JAVA is the UI designing.
