Ok, continuing my story, following Day 1 and Day 2, here is Day 3:

1. Downloaded the latest repair tool as read from the news:
http://community.eveonline.com/news.asp?a=single&nid=4930&tid=1

2. Copied the downloaded repair.eve into the Eve client folder, and double clicked it. New repair tool then ran and appeared to update itself.

3. Opened Eve Launcher as admin. Client updated itself automatically to version 350962.

4. Opened Eve Launcher as admin and clicked "Play".

5. Once client has launched, Incompatible (Protocol) message appeared beside the login text fields. Dialog box appeared titled "Ready to Update" and said "the update has been downloaded. The client will now close and the update process begin". Clicked ok.

6. Update setup progress dialog box appeared and appeared to finish with no errors.

7. Opened Eve Launcher again and clicked "Play".

Steps 5 to 6 repeated itself, again and again, even with multiple reboots between supposed "patches".

Nearly at wit's end. Please help!

I've been having this same problem over the last 3 days. The Launcher randomly will decide to patch every now and then, but its back at its antics today. I've had a friend send me the most recent .patch file in an effort to force the launcher to patch, but the import function appears to be broken as well. I suspect the launcher is either timing out when calculating if an update is needed due to certain security functions through internet connections (Settings which are well out of our control, I might add). Still waiting on CCP to answer my previous question to confirm.

I have concerns regarding the advice given in news and by CCP Navigator reagrding the ESET Programe
and have posted them elsewhere in Forums

( as i do not believe what is said in this advice is the full truth ... because i have installed a full ( old )
EVE Client installation 3 days ago with the ESET Programe installed and running ... n this took place
without ANY problems and EVE was running smoother than ever on MY Pc )

But i also have addititional question related to advice given by CCP Navigator :

" When you uninstall EVE Online, the folder containing the launcher is not deleted.
• When you uninstall EVE Online, the shortcut to the EVE Online Launcher is not removed from the Start Menu
• Launcher doesn’t always come to the front of the screen.
• If another process is running from the same directory as the EVE Launcher, non-English localizations of the EVE Launcher will inform the user that another "EVE Online Process" is running. This is still a valid error, but may relate to any such process (eg LogServer.exe, repair.exe, etc). "

I would like to get instructions to TOTALLY REMOVE ANYTHING EVE RELATED on my PC

ie : WHERE do i find these files ..and HOW do I delete them ..SAFELY

Summerising my understanding, this bug
- Effects windows64 only.
- Has nothing to do with anti-virus or firewalls (maybe thats a seperate bug).
- It happens after downtime.
- launcher might be corrupt.
- repair.exe returns errors, so it cant be trusted
- All we can do is wait until CCP fix it their end.

Affects xp 32bit and vista 32bit as well

Threw adsl out the window and hooked up 3g (phone) and it is now working, went back to adsl and the stupid launcher wants to do patching still (stopped it in case) ??? but started eve through the exefile.exe in the bin dir and it works fine for me now.

After writing my last post, my launcher downloaded patch 351477 which finally worked! Just check if your launcher is v1.09 and that it downloads this version of the client.

Good luck!

Thats just it. My Launcher is v1.09. But after launcing it, it refuses to start the patching process. It sits there telling me the client is ready to go, which it clearly is not.

Ok, so I think I just figured out my problem, but I don't know how to solve it. At least not yet. Using the command prompt mode on the launcher, I followed each string, followed the links it checks to see if theres an update. Well, when the launcher is accessing 'premium_patchinfoTQ_inc.txt' on the eve server, the txt file is returning yesterday's build to yesterday's build, which in turn is making my launcher think the client is up to date. I only know this because I put the link into my browser and the txt file returned those values to me. I don't know if this is on my end but it sounds like I have some cached data somewhere on my PC that is causing that not to refresh. Going to try a few more things and I'll update on it.

Isn't this where you'd have some group of people, maybe in a team (let's call them "QA") testing the stuff before, you know, forcing it upon everyone? I mean, telling people they are 'known' problems, and in some cases suggesting technical (ie non point-and-click) ways to solve a few of them is not the way to to go for a commercial operation which wants to retain existing customers and expand its user base.

Is it.

I understand and heartily approve of trying to fix people's log in issues first. That is the big one. However, each time I log in and see an update, I am almost holding my breath in anticipation of fixing the sound issue. Believe it or not, sound is a vital clue to what is happening when you are playing. This makes doing anything in the less safe areas of space (gank filled space, low/null/unknown space, mining during Hulkageddon - should that ever happen again) much more difficult. Half the environmental noises are drowned out by the sounds of shield boosters and hardeners. Really really sucks.

This should never have slipped in on the update. I have read that people that tested on Sisi saw this bug. Why would you take the attitude of shipping with this bug to fix later? Bad, bad idea. Especially since I don't think this version provided anything that NEEDED to be out there.

If we did this where I work, and I had said yes to sending out software this way, I would be unemployed right now. Thank goodness we have a small IT department and my manager believes in testing and not pushing anything through until we know it is ready for our network. Good communication, good organization, good procedures. We really limit the amount of issues we encounter to what is reasonable to expect from our limited resources.

I may not like you or your point of view but you have a right to voice it.

The ESET workaround worked out for me. But now I log on and I find that Missions are broken... I warp to an encounter that doesn't exist. Bravo CCP.

Ok, finally got my client to update, though I had to jump through hoops to do it. CCP this one is probably not your fault, and more my Comm's squadron's fault.

Ok, so I realized that the Launcher was getting the incorrect patch information from the website. To get it fixed, I had to go into the launcher's cache directory and edit 'win_launcherinfoTQ_inc.txt' to direct the launcher at the same text file at a different location with the correct information I acquired from a friend. Of course, the update failed as the patch files weren't at the location I pointed it at. But I had already receieved the new patch file from said friend. Having gotten the launcher to acknowledge an update was required, I was able to import the new patch file and succesfully patch my client. I am now logged in and able to play the game.

This is most definantly just a work around, one that requires an aweful lot of work considering I couldn't get the launcher to read a location from my local disk and had to upload the file onto the internet and use an HTTP protocol. But fact is it now works.

After Day 3 with this crap you call "launcher" I have to say, that CCP fails again in a unprecedented dimension.
The announced benefit, to only download patches once, is a totally lie. Every time I open this craplauncher this sh!t updates itself without any chance to load a previous downloaded patchfile. I can not abort the automatism to downloading patches every time one new patch is available. I have lost the overview of the current build of EVE and the current, at present valid, patch notes.

Please implement a link to the patch note site of eve online and please trash this fugging sh!t with Facebook; Twitter; YouTube and Google+. Are you dumb at CCP? I want to play EVE and not read a advertisement of EVE from an unsavoury website.

Show important news or a link to the patch notes in this launcher or let it be and let tis launcher die! It has no function at this moment. Downloading a patch once and use this patch several times is a lie! That does NOT work. Your whole launcher does not work at some customers computers.

Really CCP I have lost my patience with such stup!d and dumb developers. You have more than enough feedback from the test-server; more than enough proposals to REAL IMPROVE the game; and all you are able to present is renaming stuff; a idiocy "new" rookieship which is trashed within the first minutes in EVE; a messed up overview without a function of sorting and with this sh!t of MouseOverlock and a EVE launcher which keeps more players out of the game than a sexy, naughty beach party with half naked jailbaits. Lol

Who must I cick in the arse that you awake from your dream to be the best company with the best game ever in the internet? At this moment you are ignorant id!ots who are headless looking for a bucket of water to extinguish a fire in a gas station.

ROLL BACK THIS LAST PATCH and take your sh!t "improvements" to the overview with you. Try this crap after 6 month development again or trash the whole concept of an launcher. NOBODY WANTS THIS CRAP!

I play AND PAY(!!!) this game since nearly 4 years. And all I really like is the "Training Queue". The rest is not useable for me. Ugh
If CCP would not had charged my bank account for the next rate for EVE, I would quit. My fire for EVE is gone... completely.

You ignore your community and you ignore me.. why should I give my money to liars and incompetend developers like CCP? Cry

Sorry to threadjack, but this doesn't help people on mac at all. And at least you guys have a dev talking to you... CCP Cascade made a brief appearance on the mac thread 2 or 3 days ago and we have not seen any movement in terms of making macbooks usable again.

The launcher is broken on mac, it's still saying it's version 1.04. Is anyone at CCP aware of this and are you doing anything about it? When will I be able to play on my macbook pro again? I've done a ****-ton of legwork trying to help narrow down the cause and provide you with information....

and all I hear are crickets....

Ok I got the Client working after enless retries.

1. Downloaded ewest (FULL) files from EvE Online
2. Un-Installed old Eve
3. Cleared all Folders (Delete) from users folders and games folders
4. Installed new EVE_Online_Installer_351477.exe
5. After installation did NOT Auto start the game.
6 Run EvEFile.Exe from bin folder

This bypasses the Launcher and the client is up to date.
Antivirus is running - Firewall is running...
now lets see what the client looks like Roll

I got a long, complicated error when the launcher did a patch update ( trying to cut and paste it failed as it said I could not post html). I can get on to the game and play, but I can only assume it will fail at some point - not the most cheering news)

Hey guys, I recently have demanded CCP to compensate everyone who is having or has had trouble with the new EVE Crucible 1.5 release, namely losing game and real life time time because of CCP's incompetence and reckless lack of proper testing and troubleshooting before release of the software. Someone in other costumer assistance forum thread tried to shut me up, so im making this VIRAL and i hope everyone of you who got deprived of the game time they paid for is with me on this, signs this and demands CCP to compensate them with added game time to their accounts too.

Endeavor Starfleet wrote: And no you can't "demand" anything. Especially a PLEX. This is not a contract and you are not guaranteed service

well, lets take a look at what EVE EULA has to say about that

EVE® Online
END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT

Chapter 10. LICENSE

Paragraph E

E. New Releases of the Software
You are not entitled to receive any new releases of the Software, or any expansion packs, updates, upgrades or similar products under the EULA, but CCP may, in its sole discretion, offer any or all of the foregoing to you. CCP may update, upgrade or otherwise enhance the Software at any time, in its sole discretion, without obligation to you. Periodically, CCP will require all users to migrate to new releases of the Software in order to continue accessing the System and playing EVE. You will be informed when a new release is available and will have a period of time in which to procure and install the new release. You must install and use the new release before the period of time has lapsed to continue accessing the System and playing EVE. If you fail to install the new release when required, CCP shall not be responsible in any way for your inability to access the System or play EVE, and you shall not be entitled to receive a refund of any prepaid subscription fees or any other form of compensation. New releases could be offered to you at a discounted price.

Now lets highlight these parts here:

"You will be informed when a new release is available and will have a period of time in which to procure and install the new release."

- Hum, ok, we did get informed of the new Crucible 1.5 release

"You must install and use the new release before the period of time has lapsed to continue accessing the System and playing EVE. If you fail to install the new release when required, CCP shall not be responsible in any way for your inability to access the System or play EVE, and you shall not be entitled to receive a refund of any prepaid subscription fees or any other form of compensation."

- Well I did fail to install the new release when required, not because I downloaded it only after a long period of time after it came out, but because CCP enforced an update full of bugs with a new launcher system that did not work on my operative system and only released another one that worked (using some workaround tricks that they did not mention) one day later, causing me to be more then one day offline.

Now, when the EULA states here that "If you fail to install the new release when required,CCP shall not be responsible in any way for your inability to acess the System or play EVE and you shall not be entitled to compensations", it means to be that way IF I AM THE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT ACCESSING THE GAME ON TIME, which is not the case. IT WAS CLEARLY CCP'S FAULT THAT I LOST MORE THAN 1 DAY OF GAME TIME BY RELEASING OS INCOMPATIBLE AND BUGGED, UNFINISHED SOFTWARE AND MAKING ITS INSTALLATION AND USE MANDATORY TO ACCESS THE SYSTEM.

Thus we may obviously conclude that in this case CCP is in obvious compensation debt for all of those who lost game time, and believe me, now that you brought it up again, I am not staying quiet on this, ITS GOING VIRAL, everyone bruised is gonna sign this and demand compensation.
