Someone please correct me if i'm wrong here as i'm no expert in these kind of things but.......
As was suggested before, if the server is rolled back to 1.4 won't the clients need to be *updated* as well? This would seem to me to not work as well since in order to be rolled back the client would still have to use the launcher to do it. The only way for people who are having issues to get a version of the game with no launcher would be to download the full offline installer with 1.4 preloaded on it.

This has been outstanding since Crucible was installed and has still not been fixed.

Alright here goes nothing, i'm at my wits end here and can no longer be arsed with this. Its been around 24 hours now and EvE is still not working for me so im gonna try and list the steps i've taken since yesterday and see if anyone else is having the same issues as me.

Post DT yesterday I opened my EvE client as I normally do (from my desktop shortcut). The 1st thing that happened IIRC was I had a launcher update then a client update, both of which failed. I then ran the repair as I was instructed which also failed.

The error message said the launcher was incompatible with a 64bit operating system and by this time the error logs said there was corrupted data.

I then downloaded the offline installer (349998) since the online one wasnt working due to data corrpution ( I think it was corrupted data). I installed EvE and tried to update it again and yet again the same problems occured, update failing and repair tool failing. After toiling with this for almost 7 hours I read a post on the forums saying if you go to the eve\bin\ExeFile and run the game from that it should run. Well yahoo the game did run from that file and seemed to bypass the launcher so I got a few hours play time last night.

Fast forward to post DT this morning and I start the game with the ExeFile, the launcher is bypassed and the update process begins and hey presto that fix is no longer working and I get this crazy-ass error in the log

Exception in thread Thread-2:

Also i'm still getting the error message that the launcher is incompatible with 64bit OS.

Anyone any ideas since CCP seem to have their head in the sand on this one? (sorry fo the wall of txt this **** is frustrating tho)

seems to be the same problems that i have , i did the same steps as you with the same result.

OK my 2 cent's for what it's worth anyway. CCP you fail HARD and I mean HARD... FFS if your going to release something make sure it works before you do!

Running Windows 7 X64 Ultimate: This application is not 64 bit compatible... Really?!? In this day and age of computing surely a company like yours has the brain cells to make a 64-bit & 32-bit version of the same app?

I used the work around that was issued yesterday (13/03/12) which no longer works due to today's (yet again FAIL) patch of yesterday's disastrous patching process... Now being an EVE player since 2004 I am used to ERRORS like this coming from you (boot.ini being the main one in living memory)

BUT SURELY YOU MUST LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES AND NOT KEEP MAKING THEM!!!

I no longer have a working EVE client as do many of your subscribers... If I were in your management I would have head's on spit's and use them for target practise!!! I say you give everyone a "We are sorry" present for you incompetence and lack of management.

Hey CCP DEVS, EVE Developers, Programmers, Software Engineers, Quality Assurance Technicians, Senior Assistants, whatever

If you are reading this, GO CALL UR BOSS AND TELL HIM TO GIVE ME BACK THE MONEY I SPENT ON THE SUBSCRIPTIONS OR MAKE MY GAME WORK WITH HIS TEETH.

I have came to the point where i no longer give a **** about what ******* bullshit you suggest to fix the game. I want to run the executable file and have an automatic fix and continue using the service I paid for and that has been denied to me for over 1 day now. ITS NOT MY JOB TO REPAIR THE GAME YOU ****** UP, IT IS YOURS.

Please let your boss know that failure from CCP's part to compensate me with extra game time for the time i have lost and will lose with this process, will face a petition, not in your technical or client support sites, but in the Iceland Investigation Police Internet Fraud Department and the INTERPOL Internet Fraud Department sites.

Why are all of my windows and settings lost?

Install went fine, first load it preserved my old settings,, but after Eve client restart it's all gone again?

I thought this was not supposed to happen?

Ok, i figured this out.

Old settings remained in ...appdata...../ c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility folder

However, CCP has laid the final blow, and for whatever reason, probably unknown to themselves, created new folder called

c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility

Way to go.

I'm on 64 bit windows 7 btw.

So I copied my settings over, overwrote and it seems to work now.

Any help would be appreciated on this front. Running under XP, latest SP, have Eve on external HD H:, can't seem to find where the relevant folders to fix this would be as my setting seem to be borked atm.
Thanks,

MD
(Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, and yes, I really need it dumbed down as to what files/folders to move where :) )

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility

Copy the folder named "settings" from here into this folder and overwrite:

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_progra~2_ccp_eve_tranquility

This issue has been resolved and the copying between folders shouldn't be needed.

Thanks Cascade, things seem to be okay today.

This is almost certainly due to the Launcher update corrupting the Launcher itself, which is symptomatic of the data corruption you're seeing. This, along with the permission issues that people have been having, is at the top of our list to fix ASAP.

but "Our apologies for the inconvenience....." just is not good enough.

What is your policy around rolling backup updates. I'm sure 24hours later 3 server DT warrent a roll back to get 100% of you paying player base backup online.

Can we have a report back from a Production manager/CEO/CTO what ever your titiles there is. On what is going to be done about the loss in Playtime. Not to mention cost of bandwith for us in developing countries that still have caps on there internet useage and have to pay to get more cap. (need to get more cap because of downloading the same patch over and over again)

Also the first responce from a Dev in over 10 hours is "Our apologies......" just don't cut it as well. How much more effort would it have been for one of the Manager that ok'ed the update after I'm sure QA told them that it's not ready (being in QA myself I know this is what happened) to give a hourly update as to what to progress is.

Your not just dealing with kids here that play your game I and all the other players pay your salary and Bonus's which you should not get by the way. So please treat us with respect and keep us updated.

Are you running Windows 7 64 or 32 bit? If so, I am currently in the process of an "experimental" work around. Estimated completion time is about 1 hour.
As far as I know, all Win 7 OS are suffering patch loop errors via Tranquility.

Sadly, with their closing out Atlanta office, and them being in Iceland, where it is dark in the winter, they probably only work 8 hour days. So 16 hours of no response is not unbelievable. Plus, you get in to work, get coffee, read the funnies, check emails, chat with the other staff (hit on single girls), look at forums, reread the funny posts, chat about funny posts, chat about other problems, discuss formally how to deal with problems, then intense game of rock, paper, scissors as to who gets to respond on the forums, then argue over how rock beats paper and scissors cause a rock covered with paper is still a rock and can break windows...then it is coffee time.

So, we must give them time to not only respond but to respond intelligently. See, I know how IT works cause I work in IT department in my company.Big smile

I may not like you or your point of view but you have a right to voice it.
