Since 5 years I always call directly the exefile.
Start "eve" d:\Games\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe /nosplash /noconsole

*actually I use some more parameters in the end, but that is not for the normal users*
No spash screen in the beginning, and now NO launcher.. Basically the launcher does exactly the same. So why to bother with it? Cool

the updater worked without any hazzle, but after accepting mission and going to the mission's system i don't have the expected 'warp to location' link

I have had similar problems as Ke'Daar and a few other mac users. I followed the link and it d/l'd fine. But when I open it and try to patch my client I get an error message that says,


Invalid Application

/Applications/EVE Online.app is not a valid EVE Online client, please try again


When I logged this morning, the patch d/l worked. The client closed to install the launcher patch and then froze completely. Had to force quit the installer program. Now my client is broken and I get a resulting error message when I try and launch it. I have looked in the Mac forums to find there is not much help on the problem we Mac users are having. Currently re-downloading the client from the server to see if I can at least get a client that will allow me to even launch and reconnect to try and get the patch to work again.

Please let us Mac users know what to do.

Why is it that I have a short skill queue every time there's a patch explosion?

You can run the Launcher shortcut with /forceupdate flag. That said, there are some permissions issues in the wild with 1.05, so this may not fix things. The definitive fallback should be the Repair Tool.

Sorry did not work for me... It started Eve but then the whole business of Patching and starting the new Launcher again.... :-(

We play EVE for the hardship. It's a shame a significant amount of that hardship comes directly from CCP.


I use WINE in Ubuntu linux.

The patching seemed to work ok. I then hit PLAY on the launcher window and a few seconds later I get a runtime error on /EVE\bin\EVE.exe. I tried running the repair.exe (6.0MB) downloaded from the linked earlier in one of these threads by a dev. It did not help.

As a linux user I expect more problems than others but this is widespread. I don't have the moral to try anything further today.

Having these situations occur often enough will drive even the most veteran player from EVE. Really CCP.... I know you can do better.

Just tried running the launcher again, updated and patched succesfully.
Don't know what happened, I didn't change anything except closing Chrome.

Dear Dev

Just followed your suggestion and both the shortcut and the repair.exe still didn't work and popped the same message, apparently these files (launcher.exe and repair.exe) wont be able to patch other files in the same directory while their processes are active.

No, not running multiple installs. In the game directory i have the "EVE Online Launcher.exe" shortcut and the "repair.exe" file, i turned the "Run as Administrator" option on, both of them still pop this message when executed: "The EVE Online launcher cannot update a directory from which processes are running. Please close the following process: launcher.exe (when i run repair: repair.exe)

Nope, repairing doesnt seem to work either. Gives me a error on the final step (7/7). Will try it later. One of my accounts has less then 3hours training time left :/ ffs (yh i know i should have EXPECTED trouble with EVERY patch ... fail on my part :()

TEMPORARY QUICK SOLUTION TO GET EVE RUNNING

as i said. forget about the whole story of new launcher and the default eve icon. just goto the eve\bin folder and double click on the evefile.exe!!!

The NEW launcher still doesn't patch properly with exception error at 4/7 and Repair does NOT work either.

Dito here. i'm downloading right now and it is taking ages. Or is the patch huge? I can't tell because it is not showing how much Mb's it is downloading on the launcher.

No error messages yet though, at least thats something :>

a little help here please..
step one - open eve... oh.. new patch .... patch eve...
step two - fail!!! nothing works... i try eve repair.exe after reading in the forums... no luck with that...
step three - delete everything eve related on the pc and dl the installer.. FAIL!!!! error doing the auto download... , gone to MANUAL dl page and dl all 3 files needed.
step four - reinstall everything and click on EvE icon on desktop... boom... launches what i think is the new launcher and then... FAIL!!! at this point im going .. OMG!!!
step five - go to ccp directory and do the eve repair thinghy.. and of course it FAILssss...

The launcher installed fine on my 2 PC's (Windows 7 & XP), but there was an issue installing it on my laptop (Vista).

Towards the end of the initial download process, it threw up the message "error creating shortcut". The installation continued and completed. The game does load through the launcher, but I cannot get into the settings menu to close the launcher down etc.


Any ideas ?

yes, but this is not the case as i am at the nourvukaiken stargate in tsuruga, not at the mission location... unless sanshas are at the gate ;) or am i missing something?
