Leaving the Rookie Channel

Ok, so rookie chat isn't too bad. But new players are forced to sit in there for 30 days. There is currently no option or method by which you can permanently leave the room. The moderators will not ban you, even if you ask, and even if you scam people through the channel they will only mute you so you can silently watch in horror the sheer stupidity of people fresh out of WoW

I wouldn't really mind too much, but I'm not a new character. This character is about 5 months old, and I just moved it to a new account because I had to create one for a holding toon anyway. Even if I was new, 30 days?! With no option to leave?

I don't usually make vexed threads concerning something that's personally effected me in game, but this really does annoy me a little. Especially since CCP staff will not remove you from the channel even if you ask, and even if you are clearly not a rookie

The check to see if you can leave that channel should not be done on account age alone. Either it should be a combination of account and character age, purely based on character age or based on account age and selection of a tickbox in the escape menu

At the very least the staff in the channel should remove you if you ask them to.

you can close/minimise the channel after logging in (it just auto-opens).

I just ignore it ... or try to help (usually end up trolling a little and telling noobs who wanna PvP to go to Amamake, Rancer, J-L, or other stupidly dangerous systems)

edit -- I'm not saying this is a bad idea ... but there has to be something beyond a checkbox, and/or a simple request. I really don't want to see the forums crammed full of "so I closed Rookie Chat after 3 days ... and I can't figure out how to do %THING".

Perhaps chatting with ISD (or petition) -- yeah, I'm an alt of $MAIN. CCP/ISD sends the main a mail asking confirmation. Main confirms, alt is no longer in rookie chat.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

I know, it's just annoying, I restart my client a lot for one thing :D But mostly it really grates that I cannot leave, and that CCP staff will not even remove you upon request. I mean seriously what purpose does that serve?

Yeah, this would be reasonable in my eyes. There is an ISD in there quite often, I think if someone joins and says "heya dude, could you ban me please? I'm an alt on a new account", then they should comply either after convoing the main account or if the character asking is an old character who has been transferred then simply doing it outright. Instead, I got only this for a reply: "No I will not.".

It just isn't helpful, but I'm also guessing since he point blank refused and even said he would not ban me if I repeatedly scammed players in the channel (I didn't actually scam players, I was just asking if he'd ban me if I did.) that the ISD staff are either incapable of removing a young account from that chat, or that they are told very specifically not to.

This needs to change IMHO, it's a silly feature to maintain especially in a game so well known for it's use of alternate accounts.

I'd imagine they'd want to keep you there in case you decide to give in to that irresistible urge to impart your knowledge on the younglings of EVE.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I don't think anybody in Eve wants me communicating with new players Twisted

Create the Purple Mountain Corp, and go out to attack those Red and Blue Corps.

Rifters are good, so are thrashers for fun.
