Hey there i got a new one.
I sucessfully probed the last log of position before a target fanished.
just a second to late to start shooting him..

However when he logged back on he didnt showed up at his logof spot.
Since when is that the case.. ?

target logged off in a mission .

Could be a number of different reasons.

1. Engaged cloak before coming out of safe warp, then disengaged it after warping away from you. If he landed just outside of the proximity needed to decloak him then he's golden. Remember, they don't come back to the EXACT spot. There is a variance of several kilometers in any direction.

2. Possibly logged off, in, off, and back in. This used to substansially change where you land at. Not sure if it still applies.

3. Eve bug ... errr .... I mean feature.

Did you actually see him on grid before he disappeared? Or were you just in warp to him?

If there was a mission involved, was it still active when he logged back on?

This is almost certainly explained by the wonky mechanics of deadspaces, but I'd need more information on the specifics of the situation. (I abhor logging off in missions/plexes because warping back to the deadspace gate at zero can be very very bad.)

Also keep in mind that if he e-warped off, the spot he will land on when he logs on is the spot that he e-warped from, which is not necessarily the last spot he was probed (if you catch him at the end of his e-warp)

A couple of thoughts:

Given: If a target logs off at spot A, their ship will emergency warp to a new spot B. When the target logs back in, they will ALWAYS emergency warp back to spot A.

If spot A is in a mission or plex, their emergency warp is often (but not always) redirected to the deadspace entrance.

The Log-out Log-in Log-Out Log-in trick to stop your ship from warping back to spot A was removed last year to stop the creation of insane (1000+ au) deep safes. No matter how many times you relog, your ship will warp back to Spot A unless it was in a mission or plex. Cry I miss my super-safes, but the loss is worth it to catch those pesky logoffers! Twisted

Some things I'm not certain of, but others might have tested:

1.) When you log back in, your ship will spawn. Does is spawn at spot B, or some new spot C?
-- I don't know, but I don't think it matters since its trivial to grab them at spot A.

2.) When a ship spawns, it will immediately align and warp to spot A. Can the warp be hindered?
-- My assumption is that you can NOT stop the warp. This needs to be tested with a probing dictor and a slow aligning ship (Freighter/Dread). Punt the dictor to the ship before it enters warp, and I'd bet a million isk it wont be able to scram the target nor will its bubble prevent warp.

You win a million iskies. I tested exactly this when I first got a JF (which I no longer have, 13b for pilot and ship is hard to resist).

After a close to disastrous first jump (hello Quam Singulari Ugh) I tested some stuff out in a quiet system.

You cannot stop the warp. Nothing will disrupt the warp back to the original warp exit point.

Stop or drag bubbles will not prevent the ship reaching point A either - the only thing you can do is to try to bubble point A, which isn't that helpful if its on a gate so you'd need a bubbler too.

If it has an accel gate, he landed at that gate, not back inside the deadspace pocket.
