New Ship Design (With Attitude)

Primary Role: Industrial
Primary Job: Fuel POS's and Transport moon goo.
Secondary Job: Give pirates a new battle badger to contend with Twisted

Basicly with new the fuel blocks POS monkeys could use a specialized barge to transport fuel and moon goo so why not make it exciting and unpredictable while we are at it.

The design could be based on the HULK but with a T3 hybrid capability.

Its core fitting could remain the same 3HS / 4MS / 2 LS

However instead of the ship being able to use rigs it would have the ability to integrate 2 trained T3 sub systems.

So now the lowly POS monkey barge could become the next battle badger by masquerading as a hauler full of moon goodies and pricey fuel blocks it could be housing a warp scram, web and

Legion Offensive - Drone Synthesis Projector.
Legion Electronics - Energy Parasitic Complex

Subsystem Skill Bonus:
10% bonus to medium energy turret capacitor use per level
10% bonus to drone damage per level
7.5% bonus to drone hitpoints per level

Subsystem Skill Bonus:
10% bonus to energy vampire and energy neutralizer transfer amount per level

What was a juicy target that caused shivers from dollar signs in the pirates eyes just became a day ruining surprise...

With the proper sub training this ship could be unpredictable in its use but with a limited cargo bay, only specialized cargo hauling would keep it in its primary role. Fuel POS's in LS/NULL or Worm Space and haul out the moon good (Maybe PI refined goods for our worm friends) Big smile

The main purpose of this vehicle could be a blockade runner, a cloaky hauler or a POS monkeys best friend but in the end you would never know how its fit (like the T3) and could have some real LOL Kill Mails Twisted

Frankly this just sounds like an overall bad idea. The last thing we need in EVE is a carebear swiss army knife.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

Well that's one opinion, however personally I think it would add flavor to the game and for all those anti-pirate corps that have impossible task of running NRDS systems maybe giving them a litmus stick to test those pirates would be a very good thing.

Really who would object to finally having a real indy ship that could be a trap... Well besides the easy kill trolls that is Evil

And Industrial's who live in anywhere concord isn't there to protect them have a bit more manhood than to be generalized as care bears. Those that use that terminology so loosely are normally just PO'ed because we make more isk and slip through your gate camps more often Roll

Being a carebear I should probably be voting for this but it strikes me as a lazy way to think around transport logistics. No matter what you do you shouldn't be able to destroy combat ships with a haulage ship. Also, in order to balance it you'll have to lose some hold in order to gain some guns.

So you make a hauler slightly more combat ready but capable of carrying less but on it's own it will still die. What's the point of that?

If you made the hauler equivalent or better than the combat ships then people would just use that for pvp making all other ships in the game redundant.

A hauler hauls. A miner mines. A combat ship shoots. A hybrid will never beat a specialised ship at it's specialised role. I can't think of a single situation I'd use your proposed ship over one that is already in the game so for that reason.........

...........I'm out.

Over to the rest of the dragons.

Tell that to this guy

Now, I do agree that this isn't that great of an idea ... sorry, OP Oops

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

ok, yeah, I should have qualified that. I was being lazy.

Under normal circumstances with equivalently intelligent players it should be very unlikely that a hauler would be able to beat a dedicated combat ship.

With a good fit, good skills, good intel, an opponent who doesn't know his ship or how to fly it and very good luck it should be just about possible.

A hauler should be a box with an engine and a cockpit. Slapping on combat armor and weapon systems would fill the box with systems instead of cargo, reducing your hold size and making it less useful for your intended role.

Honor Harrigton series began resorting to military transport ships which where a heck of a lot tougher than a civillian freighter and it threw out missile pods to ruin's people day.s

Wouldnt hold a candle up to a real military ship though that knows what it is.

This Idea reminds me of Q ships from WW2. I think it is a novel idea but it wouldn't work in this game.

First off....

That was the idea. Its a specialized hauler with a specific role.

Secondly the fitting of two subs would not make it a solo killer, simply a surprising bait...

In the right hands and right circumstances it could (like the iteron video) be used as such but again unlikely on a day to day basis.

The most likely use of it as a bait or kill capable ship would be on easy kill pirates who didn't do their homework.

The ship proposed simply caters to a void in a decent hauler to do a specific job but with options to be utilized in different ways.

I think the biggest opponents would simply be the ones who like killing easy targets they can pretty much be assured are defenseless.

But hey it was worth a try :)

A bait ship hull that's always a bait ship will never be engaged, since everyone knows it's a bait ship Roll

That's why when you see a Maller or Prophecy you grab your alpha 'nado and remove said ship from existence.

Or... you get your own bait-ship (they never suspect the "brick Myrm"), tackle the trap, and trap the trap's trapees with multiple trapping points!!!

Ow. I think I hurt myself. X

Oh yeah... I dunno if I can support this. I already see some pretty hilarious things with Badger Mk.IIs and Mammoths.
